Works great with my herman miller aeron, wish it could lock the tilt
If you sit in an aeron chair and find yourself feeling discomfort in your legs well its because the rim of the seat is putting to much pressure on your legs by having the seat too high. The aeron rewards proper posture while sitting so if it hurts you are doing something wrong. You can lower your seat to resolve this but then it may be too low for your desk, with this you can keep your seat raised and also raise the area where you rest your feet. Its very wide and built solid just dont use it to push off of as the bottom is thinner metal.Only complaint is I wish you could lock the tilt, most of the time I want it to remain in a flat position no matter where I place my feet instead it kind of acts like a seesaw where it easily tilts back and forth and if you place your feet closer to one side obviously that side is going to tilt down. You can solve this by placing something like a book in-between and That way it actually supports my legs without having to periodically adjust the tilt

It Will Move All Day
way too expensive to not be able to lock the angle properly

Attractive, ergonomic, and very durable steel footrest
After using this footrest ten hours a day for a couple of months, I'm very pleased with its design and construction. It still looks brand new, although I must admit I normally work in socks. The steel construction is well worth the additional cost over plastic footrests. The dark gray paint and non-skid surface appear to be quite durable. The red 3M label was easily removed.I very much like the tilt feature: its resistance can be easily changed with an adjustable or socket wrench. Being able to slowly rock my feet towards the back of the footrest provides a nice alternative to a fixed position. This little bit of exercise makes working for long periods much less tiring. Some reviewers have commented on the sharp edges. They're not actually sharp, but the heavy steel plate from which it is constructed is still relatively thin, and could scuff shoes. You could put tape or some kind of protective baby bumper product around the edge, but I see no need to do so. I frequently use it with bare feet and have had no scrapes.I can think of only one shortcoming, and it's a minor one: as shipped, it's not very grippy on carpeted surfaces, tends to gradually slide away, as the four pads on the bottom are not enough to grip carpet securely. I attached a thin sheet of rubber placemat material to the bottom, and that completely solved the problem.

Ok but overrated and overpriced
I was looking for a wide footrest and this one was the widest I've found. Overall the footrest is an appropriate height and width for me but lacks a few key adjustments for convenience. Recommended only because there is nothing better in this size.Pros - wide and looks professional and has a good coated finish on its metal portions.Cons - lack of a lock to keep from tilting, not comfortable in socks due to non-slip texture (I work from home), price is high (this foot rest is just a few pieces of stamped sheet metal held together with regular nuts and bolts and has a piece of fabric up top and non-skid pads on the bottom), only provides a slight (3/4") two-position height adjustment.

Probably the best of what is offered, and is priced as such
First, except for the rubbery plastic layer where your feet rest and the bottom four corners with semi-rough rubbery plastic that sit on the floor, the 22 inch wide 3M Foot Rest is made of thin but totally adequate steel sheet metal.I write "totally adequate" for use as a foot rest under a desk or table: If someone decided that they wanted to "rock and roll" on top of it, then it might break down after a while. The "rock and roll" comes to mind because I didn't realize that the foot rest would pivot it you moved your feet above the center where the bolt-rubbery-washer-frame-steel-washer-lock-nut combo holds the top to the bottom frame, and applied some small amount of pressure, with the opposite effect when you move your feet back towards you and apply any pressure downward. The pivot adds an unexpected and nice addition of flexible movement for your feet, ankles, and lower legs. One will need some tools to assemble this. The bottom frame can adjust the foot rest platform up and down in terms of height and angle. There are a few or at least two variations on that adjustment. Be prepared to wear some work gloves or heavy rubber gloves when assembling or adjusting the bottom frame: The inner hardware is a large wing nut, while the outer head of the bolt is a flat thumb screw. I wound up using an (adjustable) crescent wrench to grip the thumb screw head steady, while my rubberized work gloves tightened the wing nuts.Between the materials used, the "just right" tension on the pivoting, and the additional width that this foot rest offers over the others makes it a perfect fit for me: I'm 5'9", so I suggest that anyone taller will definitely need the extra width that this model has over the others, which as I recall varied somewhere around 18".I don't recall "exactly" what I had to adjust or assemble in terms of the "pivoting" assembly. The inside lock-nut is 7/16" I think, but the outer bolt head of that assembly may be metric, because none of my less that 1/2" box or open end wrenches would fit it, so, again, my crescent wrench came in handy.I am at my desk/computer for many hours a day and finally succumbed to "reality" and purchased and Aeron chair, which I also recommend. However, the Aeron still made my stationary hours feel like something else was needed (aside from getting up), and for me, this foot rest seems to be the perfect complement to my "stationary hours."
