Great mattress! I have the non-waterproof version for my toddler but we purchased this on sale for our second baby as it was hardly any price difference at all. Right out of the box the quality of the mattress is really nice. I appreciate the woven, breathable fabric and the cloud design is really cute. I don't find the waterproof/washable feature to be really useful for us because they don't really mention how long it takes for the mattress to dry and honestly how the heck am I going to wash this if I don't have a shower wand? We just use a waterproof mattress cover which I rip off in case of accidents or sick and then put on a new one, much easier for us.Upon opening this out of the package there was basically no smell. The only issue I have (and this might just be me) is that whenever I am putting the waterproof mattress pad on and a crib sheet, it's so difficult to put the mattress back in the crib and tuck the sheets in. I am short so this is more likely a me problem.Otherwise, great mattress!

The Newton mattress gave me the best peace of mind that I could have had. As a mom with ppa, this was by far one of the best purchases I made. I personally smushed my face against it and could not believe how well I could breathe through the mattress. It was AMAZING. I love the quality, I love the mattress protector, and well I just love everything about it. My baby also has had acid reflux for the past 8 months and this is so easy to clean! Taking it apart is even easier. Now, it is pricy and there are other infant mattresses available that go through the same testing. BUT this is the best and nobody can change my mind about it.

If you’re one of those moms that is constantly checking on your baby to make sure they are breathing and are losing sleep over it then you are the market for this mattress. I was so exhausted and just needed some peace of mind to allow myself to sleep and know my baby is safe even if they end up face down during the night. The price point can be a bit high but it’s definitely worth it. We will raise all our babies on this mattress. It’s not just for baby, it’s for mommy to relax and not worry too! I love that it’s so easy to wash as well!

Best purchase I’ve made for my baby outside of the Owlet.My husband lost his sister to SIDS when she was 6 months old so it was very important to us that we do anything we can for that extra bit of “peace of mind” when it comes to safe sleep for our son. Having a 100% breathable mattress has eased some of our anxiety when he moved into his own room and out of the bassinet. We even tested it by shoving our face into it as hard as we could!We did get the waterproof cover so that if there’s an accident, we don’t have to fully wash the mattress but I also love that you’re able to if needed!! That’s another amazing feature and reason we wanted it.It fits our normal size crib perfectly and will be able to fit in a toddler bed when he gets to that age.The quality is what you would expect from a $200+ mattress. It’s sturdy and not super squishy to help promote safe sleep, but still super comfy!

Oh my gosh. The difference between the Newton mattress and one you go buy at a store like Walmart is like 100 to 1. No wonder my baby wasn’t sleeping good she would toss and turn and cry. I felt the difference between the two mattresses and I cannot believe I ever bought that mattress from Walmart. This is a hundred percent worth the money because who can put a price on safety and comfort. Like this mattress is not only amazingly comfy but it’s a hundred percent breathable which is the main goal. My little one started turning over so we had to remove her baby sleeper pad and she was so uncomfortable crying all night long. This mattress fixed everything she’s comfy safe and well rested now. I mother of three 100 percent recommend this and wish I had had it for my other two littles. :) and to address the reviews saying it stinks or it’s hard to clean…. I’m not sure if you got a bad one or what but mine does not stink I washed everything and it’s all good. I one hundred percent would buy this again. My baby has been sleeping (safely) through the night since day one. She’s A belly sleeper and I was so worried about her not being able to breath through that cheap plastic bed I bought at the store but I put my mouth the the newton and I could breath so easy. Thank you all for making this bed! I sleep with ease now :)

My third little one is almost 5 months old and has been sleeping in her bassinet in our downstairs master. She's been rolling from back to belly since 12 weeks, but she still won't roll from her belly to her back. The risk of SIDS worries me to insanity. I woke up in the middle of the night a few nights ago to find her sleeping on her belly against the sides of her bassinet, and it's safe to say I haven't slept since. It seems that since she rolled over that night, side sleeping and belly sleeping are the positions she goes to right away. I don't recall my two older girls ever doing that, so I used a cheapy "normal" crib mattress and had the same ready for this babe.I could not shake the ideas of 1. letting her continue sleeping in her bassinet, even though it has breathable mesh sides or 2. putting her upstairs in her own room with the vinyl (yes, vinyl) mattress I'd gotten for her second-hand. Like I mentioned, my first two girls never seemed to like sleeping on their bellies and they had regular cotton mattresses, so I never thought anything of it when I got the cheap mattress this go-round.I decided to bite the bullet and get this mattress purely for the peace of mind it would give me. I was dumbfounded at how truly breathable it is. The first thing I did was put my face into it and take a nice deep breath - there was virtually no obstruction. The relief I felt was insane. I put the crib sheet on the mattress and actually think I'll leave it off, especially considering the Newton mattress is completely washable. I was surprised at how much of a difference it made with airflow after I put the sheet on, so I will likely just end up getting an extra cover.

Pricey but so worth it. The mattress is comfortable, my baby loves it. It gives me peace of mind too knowing that it’s completely breathable even with a sheet on (I tested it lol). So glad I purchased this

Good investment, excellent quality

As a first time parent, I was concerned about sleep. We invested in this mattress for peace of mind and so far it has provided that. I love knowing that if my active baby rolls over in her sleep, she will be safe! I have first-hand shoved my face into the mattress and could indeed still breathe! My baby is currently 7 months and has slept on this mattress comfortably ever since we brought her home from the hospital. The firmness of the mattress is also reassuring. I love the value in this mattress being able to flip it over and use the water-proof toddler side when she grows up. I haven’t had to clean the core of the mattress yet but am glad I easily could if needed in the future. It fits our IKEA crib perfectly.

It really is super breathable. It says standard size but it is quite snug in our standard size crib. The sheets fit but a little weird at the corners but it’s hardly noticeable. So far so good.Haven’t had to clean it yet. Will update review when I do.

I am not sure why there are other reviews claiming of strong chemical smell, maybe a fake? The plastic they use is same as the plastic used for milk jugs and food safe.Mine came quickly completely sealed and upon unsealing it there is ZERO smell, just a clean breathable firm mattress that’s is washable. Happy with the purchase! Only downside I can think of is that it’s slightly on the pricey side.
