ARKSEN 43" x 50" x 6" Extra Wide Roof Rack Basket

For the price, this basket is amazing! I took it on a 3,500 mile road trip out west to Moab, Utah and had zero issues with it! We did a lot of off roading and only had to slightly tighten the nuts down after a lot of bumpy trails. I don’t keep it on all the time so I can’t speak for rust but I did do what another reviewer suggested which was silicone seal the joining parts then sprayed it in black paint to prevent water from entering and rusting. Assembly was easy and so was install. This is also the first basket I have found that works with an existing rack, is wide enough for a Wrangler and short enough that I can take my front top panels off of my 2 door JL with the basket on! And also not over $600 🙄. I wasn’t sure if it would work with my Jeep and there are no photos of it on one so I hope it helps other 2 door Jeepers out!

Overall satisfied. Frustrating when parts appeared missing but then directions seemingly don’t require them (washers).

I've used Yakima loadwarrior for some time now, but it was just too small for the totes I was using for camping. Then I found this and noticed the width was a good bit more. That and having the price about 300 bucks cheaper I decided it was worth a purchase. Assembly isn't the easiest, just do to some pipes needing to be bent a little (have something to do that when you get this), but once done it goes right up without fuss. I would really recommend this if you're looking for Thule or Yakima alternative. Seems like they are all about the same and this is a lot cheaper.

Only used it for one trip so far. Worked fantastic, wasn’t hard to assemble or mount. However, after just the first week and maybe 3 rainstorms, it’s already rusting at the screws/seams.

Finally! A wide rack! I have been searching for over a year for an affordable wide rack for my double cab tacoma. It fits great and looks mean. My husband is jealous of the powder coating it came with because the one he got last year was not coated and has already started rusting. I was able to mount my arb canopy to it no problem without needing special brackets. There is zero wind noise once mounted at any speed. If you own a Tacoma you know finding a basket to mount onto the rails is frustrating and I can say that the way we mounted this did require some creativity. This basket does require rack rails to mount to so please be sure to measure the distance between your rails in length. Because of the length of the basket, it is not long enough to mount to the Tacoma rails the way the instructions say. But we were able to make it work and it is awesome.

My biggest problem with this product is that it came with no instructions. Putting this thing together was only possible by looking at pictures online. It serves its purpose, but that could have been way better in my opinion.

I would return this, but I don't have the original packaging and it's no longer in brand new condition. I've had this on my car for about a month. Take the warnings about rust and build quality seriously and spend more money on a higher quality product. Installing was a nightmare because the mounts that sit between the rack's bars don't fit the bars, so I had to shave them down. The brackets that clamp the mounts to your car stick up a good 2-3 inches and could puncture a bag or scratch whatever you put in the rack. The welds are atrocious - small bars welded into larger bars with large gaps that collect water and begin to rust. Yes, you can fill these gaps and coat with liners and paints but it is such a hassle considering how extensive you need to be. They should just build a proper product. I am going to have to buy extra materials and spend who knows how long thoroughly prepping surfaces, filling gaps, and applying new coating. I also need to find something that covers the brackets.

I needed a wider basket to accommodate my canoe when hauling it on top. This fit the bill. It actually seems to be the only affordable choice out there. I read the reviews about rust and took preventative measures by sealing everything with super fast dry urethane. It should be protected and perform well now. Nice replacement for the basket I had been using. This one will fit the rig much better.
