WOPET 6L Automatic Cat Feeder, WiFi Automatic Dog Feeder with APP Control for Remote Feeding, Cat Food Dispenser with Low Food Sensor and Voice Recorder, Up to 15 Meals Per Day

So, we have an outdoor feral cat that has lived on our property for about 4 years. We have never been able to pet her, but she will let us get about 10-15 feet away and talk to her. I don't know how she got here, but my wife has been giving her food and water since the day she showed up. To re-pay our hospitality, she frequently brings us food in the form of dead lizards, mice, even rats and leaves them on the back porch. We wanted to go on vacation a few days here and there, and my wife was frantic with worry over the feral cat (We named her Phantom). Because no one would be here to feed and water her when we are gone I had to solve this problem. The first thing I did was install a google nest camera under the deck. That's where she hangs out and where my wife feeds her. Then I started looking at automatic feeders and watering solutions and came upon this product. I wound up buying all three of the "frequently bought together items" that Amazon always puts under a product. One of those products solved the watering issue (mostly). Did I mention the Raccoons? The Raccoons appear in the night and raid her food and wash their dirty little paws in her water dish. Not cool. Anyway, one of the first reviews I looked at, included a photo of a secure wooden box a man had built to solve the raccoon problem. I built a very similar box, practically copying this man's design (it was very clever). So, box built, camera placed, I set about to activate the Wopet 6L wi-fi feeder and could not connect to the internet. Apparently, this feeder only operates on 2.4 GHz. My modem broadcasts both at 5 GHz and 2.4 Ghz, but you have to manually change it to 2.4 GHz if that is what you want. Most modern modems automatically select 5 GHz due to signal strength. Be aware that if you do change to 2.4, every product you have on your smart phone will need to be reset, major pain. Anyway, after spending several hours trying to solve this, I was ready to send the feeder back and accept defeat. Then, I found a clip on YouTube that solved my problem almost instantly. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0iOz_bHehU) The long and short of it is your modem automatically switches to 2.4 Ghz when you walk out of range of the 5Ghz signal. And so the answer to my problem, walk down the driveway about 200 feet, the phone chimed and "device detected" appeared on the screen. Before you walk away, go through all the steps in the app until you get ready to connect. After you hit the button you have two minutes to get away from your modem and pick up the 2.4 GHz signal. Once connected you are set, it does not dis-connect when you get back in 5 GHz range. Lastly, I mentioned the watering problem being solved mostly. The problem of the paw washing raccoons still exists and the water bottle that came with the "frequently bought together suggestions" only holds about 1.6 liters of water. It gets really hot here in the summer, sometimes over a 100 degrees for multiple days on end. To solve this, I am working on a 10 gallon watering solution using homer buckets with lids from Home depot, Rain drip 1/4 inch drip line with varying connectors to control the speed of the drip, and lastly a piece of PVC pipe cut in half to keep Raccoon paws out of the water. I will update review and include more photos when I complete this project.

Update- my dwarf rabbit was supposed to weigh 5 pounds or under. But he’s 10 pounds now since I got this feeder. Or maybe he’s not really a dwarf rabbit. But his brother isn’t this big at all. Well one fact is he is a rabbit no matter what size he is. I guess I gotta put him on a slight diet and buy a bigger bed for now. I had to add this to my wishlist because I definitely need another one. After using litter box My dwarf baby rabbit speed runs through his tunnel jumps up into the air and karate kicks his wife the (lion head rabbit) away from the pet feeder. I guess he likes the bowl so much he wants it all to himself. I’m so upset that he did that to her, she could have choked or/and got injured in the process. Also, This pet feeder has just about every feature you could think of except using it with 3rd party voice apps. I even poured rabbit food in it and it holds them well. It did struggle with a brand of dog food that has big giant kibbles so when it doesn’t get stuck from that brand it only releases 2 kibbles per portion so I won’t put giant dog food kibbles in the pet feeder anymore a regular bowl is more suitable for that. Also I’m hoping that the machine is keeping the pets food fresh because I didn’t see any Desiccants with this product but I will just place one in them from the packs of dog bones that I always buy. Lastly, it kept playing the recorded message over and over one day so I had to reboot it and it never malfunctioned again after that. It also keeps a strong WiFi connection and the timer works great and the alerts for insufficient (low on food) reminder works great too. Just keep an eye on the food level if you don’t have time to view phone push notifications alerts. Please keep an eye on food level it does get low. I have cameras set up so I can double check that food is really going inside the bowls too. We have cats, dogs and rabbits in our family and they all love this feeder. I just need another feeder for the rabbits room because you see what he did to the other rabbit on the attached video.

I had a previous version from Wopet that worked great for over 4 years, so when it died, I went to this one. Purchased in November, and really liked the integration with the app, giving me alerts when food was low. It is a fairly small food dish, so for my dog I would regularly get messages saying it couldn't dispense all of the food because the food tray was full. Not a big deal, as I figured he was getting enough with twice a day feedings, which were all very simple to schedule via the app. Problem was that getting so many notices, I kinda stopped paying attention and just checked occasionally to see if I was getting a low food warning. Fast forward 3 months and I realize I have 4 days of alerts saying the feeder is jammed and realize my dog hasn't been getting his food. I empty out the hopper, everything seems fine, but the motor doesn't work right. Food is not jammed, and it can easily turn but seems like it is attempting to turn to dispense food, but fails and gives error that it is jammed, even if there is no food in the hopper. I understand that electronics wear out over time, but after only 3 months, this must be defective. I can't seem to find out how to contact support other than going through Amazon, and the return window ended last week :( I liked this feeder enough that I have ordered another one to hopefully have a better experience and see if I can get more than 3 months. New unit will arrive today. Editing after a great experience with WOPET support. After writing the previous review, I reached out to support and they were very easy to work with. Sent me a new unit. No problems with the replacement after a month and now I have a spare. I really do like this feeder and how easy it is to use, along with the notifications letting me know if there are problems. Great feeder overall

I never had any issues with this product, would buy again if my cat wasn’t a monster. Left her alone a little longer then normal and she chew straight through the cord as a protest. I’m on the prowl to find an automatic feeder with maybe a nylon cord that would be tougher than this one, or maybe buy a cord protector. Another thing is she did learn that if she had a running start and then jumped on top of the feeder it would dispense some kibble. I was also thankful for the lock on the top, she has knocked it over before but the lock prevented it from opening and spilling. As long as you get batteries, even if it’s unplugged it will dispense food if you have it on a schedule. However if gets unplugged and it’s not on a schedule, you can’t use the app to dispense more food. Which is unfortunate for me, I only used this on days where I wouldn’t be able to feed her myself so it was never on the schedule. I’d just access the app and feed her if I knew I wasn’t going to be home to do it myself. So when she chew through the cord, I’m unable to use the app to dispense more food even with the batteries. Lastly, the portions were annoying to figure out. I couldn’t find anywhere what the portion measurements were so I had to do it myself. 4 portions is 1/4 cup btw. I really loved this feeder, it made life so much easier sad to see it dead. (Edit: I realized they sell replacement cords! Long live the feeder)

This feeder works great. It feeds the amount selected on time, every time. The one negative is that the included bowl that the feeder dumps into only holds around 1/2-2/3 of a cup of food. This is ok if your pet hears the feeder and starts eating in under 10 minutes because the feeder will keep trying to see if the food in the bowl has been moved out of the way (eaten), but after 10 minutes, it gives up. So, if your pet misses hearing the feeder start, they may not get their full meal unless you intervene. They do have a failsafe for this problem built into the app though so this is more of a minor inconvenience than a problem. If the full meal isn’t given, the app alerts you after the 10 minute window has passed. You can then look to see how many “servings” were provided and you can then manually release the rest of the meal. Or, my solution: I removed the included bowl, put the feeder on a raised surface, and put my dogs regular bowl under the feeder. Since my dog’s regular bowl is metal, this also means he can hear it better when his food drops into his bowl. The reservoir holds about 22 cups of food and each “serving” is pretty tiny and each meal can be anywhere from 1-50 “servings.” 1 cup = 17 servings for an idea of how much meal size flexibility this thing has. It can handle appropriate meal sizes for anything from the tiniest of kittens and puppies to the most of the largest dogs (and if more than 50 “servings” are needed per meal, you can always program back to back meals to combine them. Since it is app controlled, you can easily program however many meals you need and when you need them. When the feeder gets low, with a few cups of food remaining, there is a notification from the app to tell you it’s low. If not refilled, there is another notification when it actually runs out of food. There is a button on the feeder that can disperse a preset (in the app) amount of food manually. For those of us with smart and food-obsessed dogs who would take advantage of that button, it can be easily disabled in the app. Two paws up for both the feeder and the app that controls it.

I bought 2 of these feeders for my cats 2 years ago and absolutely love it! I have never once had an issue with the feeders. I put in the batteries as it suggests if the power goes out and leave them plugged in. They have never failed. They hold a large amount of food so I don’t actually refill that often. I can leave for multiple days at a time confidently knowing it will dispense the food. The app is super easy to use and I am able to adjust the portion sizes especially since I have 1 large cat and 1 small cat, they both don’t eat the same amount, and I can adjust the times it dispenses. The app also sends me notifications when the food is running low so I can refill it and when it dispenses the food. The only slight problem I’ve had is the app sometimes logs me out and will no longer send me notifications. I just have to log back in. Other than that, the feeders are great and I can confidently say I’m a satisfied customer!!

Just got this yesterday. Very easy to setup except for password, for some reason it took several times to allow me to enter a password, it finally allowed me to type it in after leaving it sit waiting for password entry for a couple of minutes then a red cursor appeared to the left and I was able to enter the password. Besides the password issue everything else was simple. We feed our 22lb adult dog 1/3 cup of Sams Club Member mark Salmon & Pea dry kibble twice a day. Measured out the portion size and 5 servings = 1/3 cup. After filling the feeder bin and priming it with a couple of manual feeds I ran a test to ensure portion control. I ran 20 programed meals of 5 servings. Each came out to be the same size of 1/3 cup so Im satisfied the portion control is correct. I also tested capacity, this 6L Bin will hold sixty four 1/3 cup servings, for our dog at two servings per day that would be 32 days!! The feeder is powered by a small usb block charger with a usb C to usb MICRO cable. For optional backup power it uses three D cell alkaline batteries not included and will cost you about $8. After I installed the batteries I unplugged the usb then plugged it back in. The programing was retained. Testing with no Wi-Fi and only battery power: I turned off my WI-FI router and unplugged the USB to test if this feeder would work in the case of a power loss. When the next scheduled feeding time arrived the feeder played my pre recorded "time to eat" message then dispensed the correct portion of feed. Cleaning: As its brand new I've only wiped it out the feed bin and washed the easily removable feed tray. The instructions are not really clear on if the feed bin is removable, it looks like it might be but I was unable to do so, did not want to break it by applying too much force. It would be nice if it was removable so cleaning would be a simple removal, wash/dry and return but wiping it out looks like it will work ok too. FEEDING RECORD: In the app its easy to see a history of feedings with time and date, portions and if their was a failure it states Feeding Failure. LOW ON FEED: This feeder also sends you a message and posts on the app when the bin is low on feed. BATTERY LOW: The app also notifies if the 3 D cell batteries are low. I'm impressed, the only down side I see is not actually interacting with my pet at feeding time, however this device along with a auto water dispenser, a doggy door to a fenced yard, a few wi-fi pet cameras and daily visits by good neighbors will allow us to leave our pet at home when we are away.

I got this for my cats. They are little piglets and don't know how to graze on food, they will eat every last morsel I put down. I can not be home every night and I worried they would gorge themselves the first night and then starve until I returned home. I was hoping this would get them on a schedule and make sure they were always fed. For the most part, it works fine. But I get notifications that say the food was blocked and your pet didn't eat on time, or some other message that worries me that they didn't get fed. It goes offline a lot, even though I have a very stable wifi connection. I just worry that is I have to be gone for more than 2 days they could starve. Also, it's not clear how much a portion is. I did a test of 1 portion and it spit out 5 pieces of dry kibble. So I tried 10 portions thinking that would be about right and I thought the food would never stop pouring out! I found that for my two cats to eat 12 portions would give each about 1/3 cup, assuming they eat at the same rate! I don't trust the manual feed in the app when I'm away from home but it does work when I'm home. The whole unit does slide around on the floor and only gets worse as less food is left in the unit. If you have very rambunctious kitties like mine you may want to consider some ways to hold it in place. Mine have unplugged the unit several times by pushing it across the floor by accident. On the upside, the unit was pretty easy to set up and get running. The hopper holds plenty of food. And when it's functioning properly it's great to have. It doesn't matter where they are in the house as soon as it starts to go off they jump and run to eat.

I bought this because it has all the features necessary for a multi-cat hierarchical household on a diet: small portions, ability to programme many meals, easy to use app to adjust feeding amounts and time, and the app sends an alert when food is running low. We’ve used it about 3 weeks now and the feeder has been running very well so far. Wopet customer service was a great help too and you can sign up on their website for an extended warranty.
