Amazon Basics AA once again are too big to fully seat in this item. If I jam it it I'll nenervbe able to get it out to replace. Chronic with these batteries. That makes it difficult to know if it's only faulty-sized batteries or the device itself.The clock is silent!

It's high time I submitted a review for this cute little clock. This is the third one I've purchased over the course of four years. I now have one in the bathroom, the laundry room, and next to the breakfast table. I tried a different clock this last time, just for a change, but it was cheap and cheesy, with plastic parts meant to look like metal. Back it went, and I ordered another of my tried and true model. It's sturdy, with a metal case, metal ring and buttons on the top, and keeps good time. It's fairly small -- about 3.5 inches square -- has an easy-to-read face, and an easily accessed button on the back to light the face at night.

Quiet and easy to see the numbers. The green is a very soft color. All in all this is just a sweet little clock, just what I needed for a nightstand.

Based on the looks, functions, and positive reviews I thought this would be the perfect little clock for a bathroom shelf to replace an old clock that died. I put a fresh battery in this clock but it would not work. The backlight worked when I pressed the button, but the core functionality of keeping time did not work. I submitted for an exchange and Amazon was amazingly fast to send me a new one before I even had time to ship back the old one. Unfortunately the new one was also a dud, the backlight worked after putting in a fresh battery but the core function of the clock did not work so it's going back and I will seek out a totally different clock by a reputable brand. Side note: Upon receipt of 2nd clock, I looked very closely at the guide that shows which way the battery should go, and it was backwards! It indicated the + and - ends of the battery to go in the opposite directions of where they should go. If you attempt to follow what it shows, the battery is not going to actually fit. Flipping it around is correct, and as I said, the light then worked on the clock - but I didn't even care about that since the base clock functionality did not work at all.

This is a sweet little clock I purchased for a shelf in the bathroom. So far, it's accurately keeping time.

I bought this to use as part of a craftsman wood clock that I made. The size and color are as outlined and battery operation holding up well. Good value for the money.

As others have mentioned, this clock is very cute and does have an external metal case. However, as others have mentioned, there are problems with the time and alarm setting knobs coming off. Mine arrived without any time setting knob whatsoever, which was highly disappointing. I also noticed that another reviewer posted a picture of almost the same thing as I have for the same clock (same color and everything) just a couple of months before this one arrived to me, which makes me wonder if when defective items are returned, if they are just sent right back out to the next customer. Anyway, if you do take a chance on this clock, make sure all the buttons are intact and everything is working.As a side note, it doesn't make a ticking sound. If you put your ear right up against it, you will hear a faint noise of the motor that runs the second hand, but I had to listen very closely with it right up against my ear to hear it.
