Old Reliable
A value-for-money reel with a 20+ year-old design that is tried and tested, and almost maintenance free. This reel is good for inshore saltwater fishing for critters up to about 20-25lbs, and for freshwater heavier fishing for salmon and catfish. It features a rugged, simple design, a reliable drag and a large arbor, high capacity spool that allows for long casts. After years of use, the bail spring might fail. Converting it from left to right hand takes only a couple minutes and a screwdriver. If you dunk the reel just briefly, the tight gear case is likely to have kept water out. (However, you'll want to disassemble the drag and clean/lube the washers before reassembly to keep that vital element working smoothly.) My only complaint is that Daiwa is creaming the market with their pricing. The reel is simply designed and doesn't feature the intricate innards that characterize the more modern (and much more expensive reels). Before buying this one (my third), I shopped for alternatives and found quite a few but as I didn't have the long, satisfying experience with them like I did with the SS2600 in the end I went with Old Reliable

Good reel
For the price, it’s a great reel. I fish mostly trevally (salt water) in the 1 to 3 lb. range. No ptoblems.

Different sizes for every type of fishing
Best reel for the price on the market. I fish 350 days a year for years and have owned at least 20 of these . I fish primarily for steelhead and secondary for salmon.

Best spinning reels ever
I bought these for saltwater fishing and paired them with All Star 7' foot rods and then spooled them up with ProwerPro Slick 8 30lb test line. You have to slow it down it comes off so smooth and quick. I'm glad I bought two when I did as they are hard to find.

Good reels
I have no problem with these reels ( I have two 2000 and 3000), I find both of them good for their purpose. 3000 is little bit more robust and heavy with more line space I’ll take it to the river when salmon run starts. I like the folding handle 2000 can fit to jacket pocket. After several seasons using this reel i'm getting to like it more and more it's really sturdy piece of equipment!
