Please don’t waste money on a one time use shovel
There were a lot of things wrong with this shovel. Spend a few dollars more to get a shovel that will last more than a day.-The blade of the shovel is thin-The square channel walls were thin and didn’t have end caps to keep dirt, water, and salt from getting into the shaft and rusting it from the inside out-The point where the shaft connects to the blade and pick had so much play in it, the whole thing would ‘wobble’ every time you dug and would be badly bending the mounts, especially if you swung it as a pick.

Great price, but not built well!
After taking it out of the bag and expanding it. I turned the thread-lock as tight as it would go. It doesn't LOCK it FIRMLY in place. Has a little play in it. (If it was a true emergency, I'd want my full sized shovel). I'm using it for prospecting. Guess I'll see how much it bugs me. I do know one thing, I won't be buying another one of these.

Great buy
Awesome little shovel . Surprised how well it’s made for the cost . Was tempted to order a few more to keep in every vehicle

Much more versatile than I planned on.
My need for this tool may not fit yours directly. Bare this in mind. I use this tool on my adventure motorcycles. I got it initially as just the shovel/axe idea. Because I free camp (rarely at a premade campsite) I typically have to dig my own little fire pits and catholes, and am careful to cover them when I'm done LNT. I was leery of the shaft as it is not collapsible and would add weight that I thought may be wasteful. However, the handle is fully hollow. I've since stuffed all my fire supplies and some toilet paper in the handle. I also added some random nuts/bolts to the shovel end of the handle to keep them from floating around my toolbag. Not only does this act as a new storage space, but the added hardware adds more heft to the swing when using as an axe. Additionally, the handle also can be used as a breaker bar on the end of a small ratchet. Honestly, now that I've fully fleshed out the potential of this tool, I won't be camping without it. It is a lot of weight to add to a thru-hiker bag, so not recommended for long treks on foot at all. But any other adventure where weight is not a main consideration, this would be a great tool.
