Love it! Buy it!
Cooks Illustrated recommends this All Clad D3 steel 6 quart stockpot to replace the 18 pound CAST IRON Dutch oven. I am so happy I bought this! It is perfect for braising. It’s my most used pot. Anything I could make in a slow cooker I can make in the All Clad. I did buy enameled Dutch ovens in the past and I did not like how freaking heavy they are when filled with food. And that they CHIP and crack and the inner pot gets stained. So I upgraded to the lighter weight stainless steel ALL CLAD. I can’t believe I broke three enameled cast iron Dutch ovens before I found Cooks Illustrated’s recommendation. I purchased a non enameled cast iron Dutch oven for baking bread in. I love my ALL clad. It’s so easy to clean!

Perfect for Sous Vide
I just received my new stockpot and I am thrilled with the size, quality and heft. I got it for making large batch soups but I realized it would work perfectly with my Joule sous vide appliance. It is going to be even more useful than I thought.

New quality at savings!
Fantastic deal on a new, “seconds” quality All-Clad D3 8qt stock pot. I perform considerable research on which 8 quart stock pot to purchase. I really wanted an All-Clad pan that had trouble stomaching in the cost of a new one. Several sources reported that Capital Cookware is a reputable dealer for All-Clad items on Amazon. I am happy to report. This is my experience. The pan was described as arriving new in a non-retail carton with a warranty and that the pot would have a 1% superficial scratch mark on exterior of bottom of pot. There were slight scratching on the very bottom of the pot and also at the bottom of the side. I had to look to find the scratch. From far away, the pan looked exactly brand new and imperfect condition. The minute I cook in this it is no longer going to be or appear brand new so I wasn’t too worried about this scratch. I was able to save $80 off the retail price. And will happily recommend purchasing from Capital Cookware on Amazon.

Absolutely love it
This is my new workhorse. I got it just as I moved into a new house while the rest of my pots and pans were en route, and I used it for everything from soup to frying bacon. It did great at everything. Nice even heat, sleek looks, and feels good to use. I found it easy to clean, and the size is perfect for a home cook doing some 6-8 serving big-batch cooking.

Well-behaved simmerer with All-Clad quality -- not much bad to say!
I don't want to suggest that this is the "best" stockpot or even imply it's better than some less expensive offerings. In fact, I'm quite positive with a little time spent web sleuthing, I could be just as pleased spending just a quarter of the money. BUT... I must say that All-Clad is the first name I checked out. Since 1997, my wife and I have been cooking on All-Clad stainless steel line (which refers to the finish -- it features All-Clad's signature aluminum core construction), and all of that gear is holding up remarkably well, with daily use and regular scourings. This pot is no different, with the same aluminum core, low-polish stainless exterior (not exactly mirror bright, thank goodness), and easy-to-clean interior that handles Brillo pads and Barkeepers Helper without complaint. The sign of any good stockpot -- this one included -- is a good amount of base material to facilitate even heat spread. The cheap pots with thin bases that develop hot spots not only require constant stirring and undue patience, they're a pain to clean all the burnt-on muck off the bottom. This one features an extremely thick steel-aluminum sandwich base plate, that heats up quickly and simmers really well, without a bunch of micro-adjustments to the flame. The other sign of a good stockpot is a tall, narrow profile -- to control the rate of boil-off and ensure all of the ingredients are absorbing the natural flavors rising from the bottom. There's a trade-off with this pot: if you're dealing with smaller quantities, this pot is too wide and, in fact, annoyingly tall. For those instances, a narrower pot is in order. For larger quantities, pickings are slim, but this fits the bill. The pot measures about 12 inches across, and is a bit more than 10 inches tall. It easily handles whole chicken and turkey carcasses. There's no flex to the sides -- which are "normal" thickness, i.e. quite a bit thinner that the fat base -- so even when I'm lifting the full, heavy pot off the cook top, the riveted handles always feel sturdy, and I don't expect any failures *ever* just like with our long-serving braiser and soup pot. My biggest criticism of this type of handle is cleaning the discoloration that eventually develops around the rivets -- but that's just a petty grievance. For a reason I'm not aware of, this 16 quart pot is a rare beast, with no presence on All-Clad's website, nor many of the other All-Clad retailers. While the price tag on this pot is "reasonable" in the All-Clad price scheme (and there are certainly more expensive stockpots out there), I again want remind you that, before clicking "Buy Now," there are more competitively priced stockpots to choose from that are almost certainly of equal quality.

Perfect size and shape
This Well made stock pot is the perfect size and shape. You can cook small or large in this 8 quart capacity. The height of the pot is perfect for seeing the contents and stirring. The pan heats well but the handles get hot. It will last forever.

Wide Base, Low Height - Ideal for One-Pot Cooking
We purchased this 6-quart stainless steel All-Clad Stock Pot to (eventually) replace our Chrissy Tiegen 4.5- quart non-stick Saute Pan. Our first meal with the All-Clad was Butter Chicken. Sauted the chicken in butter, removed, then prepared the sauce. This pan was fantastic on both - the low, wide base allowed ample room for 2 pounds of cut chicken breasts, with no crowding in the pan. The sides of the pan are truly vertical, and can accommodate a generous quantity of ingredients. For our Butter Chicken, we ended up adding in mushrooms, spinach, and several fresh tomatoes that all needed to be used. Capacity of the pan was more than adequate. Clean-up was easy; hand-washed the pan while still slightly warm. No issues cleaning the residue from the seared chicken, tomato sauce, or the cream. Interior dimensions on this are roughly 10" in diameter and 4" vertical. Dual handles make it easy to manage (the weight feels like 3, perhaps 4 pounds max). Kinda wish the lid was glass, with a steam vent, but that's just what we are used to. We simmered the Butter Chicken in full sauce with no issues. I have a feeling this will become our "go-to" pan. Very pleased with this purchase. Highly recommended.

A pot Jony Ive could have designed.
This pot cost three times as much as the Calpalon that it replaced. Is it three times better? Maybe! Reasons to spend $300-400 on one pot: 1. It is obviously made of much better materials than cheaper pots. 2. The craftsmanship and build quality is MUCH better. 3. Aestethically (I know, most people don't care) this pot is beautiful- shiny chrome exterior and brushed stainless interior 4. Function: it cooks food well without hot spots in the pot. It heats up fast and evenly. 5. Solid build, but not that heavy. For being a tri-ply construction, this pot is surprisingly light. 6. Cleans easily- you can do a glaze on it and still clean it very easily with Barkeeper's Friend 7. Design - easy to pour the liquid out of the pot due to the shape- I don't know why other pots don't do this. 8. Fit/finish- the lid fits perfectly unlike other cheaper pots. 9. Value - if you take care of this pot, it will outlast cheaper pots, so the actual cost of ownership isn't that high For me, cooking with a beautiful pot like this makes it much more enjoyable. It's just a great feeling to have something so nice in the kitchen. It gives me joy knowing that in our disposable, cheap, "made-in-china" society, there is actually a group of people that care about making something functional, beautiful, and high quality. Not only that, there are other people that appreciate and are willing to pay for that degree of care. This gives me hope.

Built like a tank
When you pick it up, it feels like it was built to last a life time. Love the rolled lip for cleanly pouring out things like soup.

Buenisimo

Excellent Investment - Very few is any Kitchen Utensils match the AllClad Make and Feel
This is my favourite go to every day cooking pot. And it is a pleasure to use. The size is perfect for a week day meal. However, would suggest that don’t let AllClad be your first set of kitchen pots and pans. To appreciate how good AllClad utensils really are, use a few cheaper brands and makes before. Once you are comfortable with the kitchen and then move to AllClad, the experience is rewarding. Used steel, non-stick and cast iron utensils from various brands over the years. But of all, AllClad stainless steel is a pleasure to cook with, in terms of performance, handling and ascetics. If AllClad is your first and only set, you may not be able to compare it with the lesser quality utensils available. As with most of my purchases, strongly recommend purchasing through Amazon, as AllClad is a fairly expensive investment and Amazon without doubt is the best online buying experience, for peace of mind and excellent customer service, if there are any issued with your orders. Had a couple of AllClad items delivered with manufacturing defects and some lost items. Amazon was excellent in resolving all of the issues. Very Happy with Amazon and AllClad.
