No guidelines on where to position curtains, but does have instructions for how to install the brackets. Don't be like me and assume 48 inches is wide enough, apparently brackets are supposed to go 6 inches off the window edge so the curtains can be pushed completely aside. I've already ordered the next length up, but the brackets are holding a random rod I have laying around nicely. The brackets do stick out far enough from the wall for my curtains to have full clearance.

Comes as seen/ purple globe end is plastic
I was slightly disappointed the purple globe on the end was plastic instead of glass but from afar you can’t notice so I kept the product. It is extremely light weight and looks nice in the nursery.
