What is the material?

Hello Cain K. Tran, Thank you for your inquiry. This self-watering wick is made of polyester-mixed cotton with stronger ability to absorb water and won't rot in the wet working condition. Any other question please contact with us immediately. Thank you Orimerc Garden

I would like to use to make self watering moss poles. Do you think it will mildew and work properly? Thank you for your feedback.

It certainly did hold the water as intended. Not sure about the mildew issue. Anything that does not get much sunlight is subject to mildew/mold. Might be worth the try.

Will this wick excess water out of the pot?

I have not had the problem of water going from the pot to the water container even when the water container is dry. I don't think the soil would be wet enough for it to act as a wick.

Will this work for a tree planted outdoors?

Thank you for your inquiry. You could use multiple pieces of wicks and a large enough bucket for a tree planted outdoors. Or you could purchase ORIMERC 1/4 inch self watering wick cord on Amazon. Any concerns please contact us immediately. Sincerely Orimerc Garden
