Lumi by Pampers Smart Sleep System: Automatic Sleep Tracking + Expert Sleep Coaching to Improve Your Baby’s Sleep (Compatible with Lumi by Pampers Diapers, Sold Separately)

Everything I get my baby has to be just right and so after a lot of research, I ended up going for the Lumi sleep kit. I couldn’t be happier with my decision. First, the unboxing was incredible and setting everything up was a breeze - felt like someone finally developed a high-end, high-tech product for babies. Using it was also incredible: The Sleep System - this was a complete life-saver. Automatic sleep tracking, incredible visualization and personalized insights allowed us to understand our baby’s sleep and ultimately get her and our family to sleep better. I couldn’t believe it actually worked - it was like magic. Diapers – They’re based on Pampers Swaddlers, so what’s not to love about them? super-soft, absorbs everything and helps my little one sleep better. I like technology, but never thought it could be so helpful for parents. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This is a review for the Sleep Sensor. Review of monitor will be separate. This sensor is so helpful in tracking baby’s sleep and diaper changes! My son is 8 months and I wish I would have gotten this during the newborn stage as it makes tracking hassle free. The monitor updates the app every time you change the diaper. It assumes wet only but you can go in the app and change to “dirty” if needed. Pros: -Tracks sleep and you can see patterns and what time would be best to put baby down for bed/nap. -Counts diaper use and you get an idea of how many diapers baby is using a day/when the last time they pooped was. -The app notifies you as soon as baby pees. Also sends a notification is diaper is very wet. -Sticks very well to diaper! I worried my son would rip it off, he has tried but is unable to take it off. Cons: -If baby is in car seat or high chair sensor counts it as a nap, but I just go in and delete the nap so not too much trouble there. -Sometimes sleep is off when my son tosses and turns in his sleep the sensor thinks he is awake and his night time sleep will show 1 hour gaps- I also just adjust in the app so easy fix. -Sensor is only good for 3 months, but with diaper subscription ($60/per month) a free sensor is sent every 3 months. Overall I highly recommend this product if you are a busy mom with not enough time or can’t remember to write down and track baby’s sleep/diapers! I love looking back at my baby’s day to see if he is getting enough sleep/enough wet diapers. Would have loved this sooner.

We have been using the Lumi since my baby was born in December, and loved it. We just got a notification saying that the battery was running low, and it needed to be replaced. So I ordered this replacement new. I opened the box and all of the seals to find this. The sensor is discolored as if it had been used. I'm not sure if this is a manufacturing error or if someone had placed a used sensor in the package and resealed it.

The lumi sensor is a life saver when it comes to tracking sleep and diaper changes. Bonus, it even enters diaper changes for you in the app to track everything, and monitors the diaper indicating whether he/she is dry, wet, or very wet. If he has a BM, you just go into the app to edit the entry. Sleep is so handy to go back and see how he/she is sleeping. Doesn't work well in the car or stroller because it uses an accelerometer, but otherwise so handy. This DOES work with diapers that aren't specifically Lumi diapers, just put the sensor over the wet indicator line and BOOM. The Lumi diapers have a wider indicator line, a spot for the sensor, and a surface that makes it adhere better. But if you cannot find Lumi diapers, this will still work.

I like the concept of this sleep sensor. I like how easy it is to apply to the diapers and use. I love the wetness tracker that lets me know whether the baby is “wet” or “very wet.” The reasons for only three stars are as follows: 1) it only works with super expensive diapers. 2) it doesn’t really track the sleep very well. It requires me, my husband, and my mother-in law, who all take care of the baby, to constantly update it with the correct sleep times (which we frequently fail to do), hence it is basically never right; for example, right now it’s telling me my baby sleeps like 21 hours a day on average which I can say with a high degree of certainty is not correct. 3) it doesn’t always sense when the diaper has been changed which is odd considering it has to be removed to change the diapers and the sensor should pick up on the fact that it’s been removed, this requires me and aforementioned other caretakers to constantly update that to assure it’s correct. 4) ( And this is the biggest deal for me) there is a “start timer” function for when a baby is eating (useless for me as I track how much she eats, not how long she eats for) but not one for sleep! In addition, I’m not allowed to input when she starts sleeping and then update it when she wakes up because it neither allows you to input just a start time or input a start time with an approximate future end time that then can be changed if need be. This drives me crazy. I wish and hope they will fix this. I really want to be able to track her sleep and it would be so great if they could improve this product in this regard as I really like the design of it. To recap, love the design and some aspects of the functionality, but wish they would fix the sleep sensor to make it more user (and budget) friendly. Update: gave it another star because realized some of the issues with the tracking were user error! Needless to say, if you do not always apply it to the diapers after a change it will not track accurately, but now that it’s been more consistently applied apparently it’s working better. Still not a five star product for me mostly because the diapers are so expensive and it only works with such limited diapers and because the manual nap inputting is still annoying. But really cool otherwise! Now that I’ve figured out its quirks, the sleep insights are really awesome actually and I feel like it’s giving me the tools to better parent. Yay!

This sleep sensor has been a true help over the last month. Basically, you place it on the front of every fresh diaper and it will automatically track baby’s sleep and diaper changes. The data is then nicely aggregated in the app. In our case, it has helped us experiment and identify the sleep routine that works best for our baby. It is also keeping all the adults in the household on point to follow that routine day by day (I’m able to share app permissions with others). The sensor has also proven very useful for the regular check with the pediatrician and being able to share number of diapers he goes through in one day, how often he gets a poopy diaper, and how much he’s feeding. Pros: - Automatic sleep tracking is a big help when starting to build a sleep routine - The app is easy to use and full of small details (for example, Wonder Weeks integrated). We use it together with the Lumi camera, but it also works stand-alone. Cons - The sensor is not always able to pick up sleep if we are running errands in the car. In that case, I enter it manually (every entry can be manually edited, too, which is helpful!) Things I was wondering prior to usage: - Is it comfortable? Yes – it is actually pretty flat and fits nicely in the front of the diaper. My baby boy does not seem to notice it at all, even when he’s doing tummy time - Does it stay securely attached? Yes – there is a patch in the front of the diaper that the sensor attaches to… we have not had any accidental knock-off and honestly, I don’t think it’ll happen because the attachment feels super strong.

We couldn't have anyone come to help us out because of the pandemic and were at our wits end. Do we risk making baby more upset by removing the swaddle and clothes to check for a wet diaper or roll the dice that it's just gas this time? How long was baby sleeping last week or a few days ago? Maybe they're just hungry...when is the last time they were fed? ---- This is like a fitbit for the baby. The apps we were using to track sleep, feedings, and diapers required manual entries and offered no graphical data representations we could show to the pediatrician. We were genuinely surprised at how accurate the sleep detection is and that it could differentiate between baby awake in rocker vs baby asleep in rocker. It got better after the first week when it began summarizing baby's schedule: Average nap length, average nighttime sleep, bedtime, average meal, etc. The "insights" are great because it helps detect what our baby is going through and offers tips (like naps/sleeping at night in our case). The "Wonder Weeks" are consolidated bursts of info to help us understand upcoming changes that our baby will be going through and what we should expect. Super easy to use -> Peel off, push on new diaper, that's it. Our baby is ~12wks now and we have already purchased another unit for when this one finally dies. The battery longevity is nice, we have it connected to both of our phones using low-power bluetooth, and it is still humming along after 7 weeks. It also saves all the daytime nap info while baby is at daycare then uploads to our phone when connectivity is reestablished. Although we weren't initially too happy about having to use a specific type of diaper, the benefits quickly made us not care, and we donated all our newborn/size 1s to the local foster care organization.

The battery is designed to last three months, cannot be replaced, cannot be recharged. Are you kidding me? So you’re basically putting B up 50 dollars for a piece of tech that is designed to break. It’s inexcusable and added to the fact that the camera has a thermostat that is never accurate I wish had just bit the bullet and purchased the Nanit system.
