I've used a hand opener forever, but I'm no longer able to bc of hand arthritis. I research everything before buying and the reviews on this item were really good on several websites. It opens cans easily and quickly in a unique way; it opens around the rim of the top which leaves a clean cut that isn't sharp on any way. It also comes with a bonus pair of scissors that sit in the back of the opener. I also like that it is taller than other openers to allow for taller cans.

I want to preface this review by saying that I have never liked electric can openers and even refused to have one in my kitchen; I much preferred the non-electric hand turned ones. However, as I have gotten older and the arthritis has become increasingly painful in my hands, it has become sufficiently difficult and almost impossible for me to operate the old style hand crank can openers. So like it or not, I had to get an electric one. I evaluated multiple options, read multiple reviews, and watched multiple videos finally deciding on this one which I might add, I found most impressive. I did not want a battery operated model which either required batteries or needed to be recharged. I especially liked the fact that the cut was made under the rim on the outside and not inside thereby eliminating any sharp edges. I finally hit the purchase button and bought this Hamilton Beach model. The can opener is tall enough to accommodate taller cans yet easily fits underneath the counter. It is attractive, sleek, streamlined and easily cleaned. The scissors tucked in the back are an added bonus. The cord is relatively short but long enough to plug in where I use it. The can fits smoothly and efficiently under the blade, and the lever is easily operated with one hand. There are no sharp edges on the can lid after being cut open. On my first use I had a bit of trouble knowing when the can had been completely cut as I noticed no change in the sound emitted by the can opener and since the cut is on the outside not the top it is difficult to see the cut. That is certainly not problematic, and I am sure it is something that I will adjust to with time. This can opener works extremely well and is a dream to use. I would be wrong to not admit how much I have enjoyed using it and how much my hands appreciate it. This can opener work fantastic. It cuts can opens without leaving any jagged edges which are a danger and can cut the user. The opening is left super smooth. I would recommend this program

I love this can opener! I was frustrated with the manual one I had purchased and the other electric one that I could never make work. This one is very easy to use--with no sharp edges left on the opened can. Really love it!

This can opener is easy to use and works well. I love that it leaves a dull edge in the can. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that it doesn’t pop the lid up when it’s cut the whole can, so I never know if it made a full circle.

This is a simple to use, solid and well made can opener.I read all the reviews before I purchased it and I’m amazed that anyone had an issue using it!! If you must , read the instructions, but I found it to be intuitive and easy to use. I was making a recipe that called for lots of cans to be opened and my manual opener-and I- we’re NOT up to the task! I’m so glad I bought this- simple, easy and efficient!Definitely worth the money!
