X-ACTO Teacher Pro Electric Pencil Sharpener, Heavy Duty, Black, 1 Count - School, Classroom Essentials

This machine is a beast. It sharpens SO quickly. Sometimes you might think it hasn't done anything, but you pull the pencil out and it's perfect. Once a week, I sharpen pencils for 4 elementary school classrooms. Today I sharpened 229 pencils in 22 minutes which included time to: 1. Line up the pencils so they all point the same way 2. Separate the pencils by "has a usable eraser or needs a new eraser" 3. Sharpen the pencils that do not need an eraser 4. Put the sharp pencils back in their classroom bag 5. Sharpen the pencils that DO need an eraser 6. Add arrowhead erasers to the pencils that needed them 7. Put the sharp pencils with new erasers back in their classroom bag 8. Repeat for each classroom And the grand total for all 4 classrooms was 22 minutes. If you only sharpen pencils, it's even faster than the time it took me. I had the Xacto School Pro, but the point was a bit dull after about a year of heavy use. This device also had a problem with overheating after sharpening a lot of pencils in a row. Since I batch-sharpen pencils for 4 classrooms, I need one that doesn't overheat easily. (The Teacher Pro has not overheated yet! But I've only tested it one time.) I had an upright Afmat and it would leave the tips dull when there were too many shavings in it. Neither of these was close to matching the speed of the Teacher Pro, though. The device is large, but it's fantastic when you're sharpening hundreds of pencils at once. The fact that the receptacle for shavings is large is really nice. The Afmat was super small in comparison. I even tried the Amazon Basics one which was minuscule. The only con is that you cannot sharpen very short pencils with this machine. There are other electric sharpeners that allow shorter pencils, but those would not be as fantastic as this sharpener. The one thing that remains to be seen is how long this sharpener will work effectively. I received it last week and put it to the test this morning. Fingers crossed for a long living sharpener!

This is THE BEST pencil sharpener I've ever had. I've been an elementary school teacher for 12 years and I get so frustrated with the burnout rate of pencil sharpeners, or how they just don't get the pencils sharp sharp. I've already gotten 3 more of these for various purposes because not only is it the best, it's a great price for a heavy duty pencil sharpener. I have never allowed colored pencils in my electric sharpeners before this year, and now I'm not afraid to let the kids get their colored pencils nice and sharp because even if it burns out in a year, the price is unbeatable. I love how it stops when it's as sharp as it's going to get with a blue light indicator. It's as loud or quiet as any other pencil sharpener. The ONLY problem is the shavings tray does not stay put. So it slowly vibrates out of place as you sharpen and the sharpener will not work without it fully in place for safety. So I just put tape on the sides, problem solved. If you have a classroom, buy this. You won't be disappointed!

I have worked in public schools for almost 20 years, and I use a pencil sharpener a lot. I was looking to replace the much-loved Bostitch electric sharpener that, after 10 years, finally quit. My only criteria to for a new one was: "Needs to be a total workhorse!" All of my students, kindergarten through 12th grade, are impressed with this pencil sharpener and use it easily. We sharpen everything in this machine, from fat starter pencils to hard-working Ticonderoga pencils, and it performs quickly and consistently every time. The points are both sharp and strong. It even fixes pencils that have been previously sharpened askew. Some of the features I love are: a built-in safety switch automatically stops the motor to prevent over-sharpening, a large shavings receptacle, a one-hole pencil sharpener for all sizes of pencils, led light indicates that it's in use, and suction cups that hold the sharpener to the desk. I wouldn't be surprised if this one lasts 10 years, too. Hope you found this review helpful!

A teacher friend had this on her back to school Amazon list, and so when my cheap pencil sharpener stopped working, I bought this bad boy. Oh man, I wasn’t expecting what came in the mail. I homeschool, and my kids looooove art. We have hundreds of colored pencils that are always dull. And my kids seem to constantly complain that they can’t find a regular pencil that is sharp. Well, that is no longer a problem. This sharpener has power behind it, think, “power tools power.” My 5 year old and I spent about 15 minutes straight sharpening our pencil stash, and this thing didn’t overheat or quit. It has an awesome set of lights which tell you when to take the pencil out (so my kids won’t sharpen a single pencil down to a nub for no reason). The shavings container is enormous so it won’t have to be continually emptied. And it also has suction cups for the feet so it doesn’t move around when you are sharpening. Seriously, if you homeschool, cyber school, or you or your kids just love art and use a lot of pencils, this sharpener is a great thing to have on hand. I’m so glad I spent a little extra $ on this one because I think it will likely be the last pencil sharpener I will ever buy.

Very nice pencil sharpener used in my class, but unfortunately it broke. Not sure what happened. Would love another one at a discount please somebody contact me.

I really love my sharpener! I got it as a gift, and it is one of my favorite things I got for my classroom. It works so amazing! You put your pencil in and it is sharp in less than 5 seconds. You can easily empty the very large shavings compartment. I did sadly have to tape the shavings compartment, because it would open slightly with the shaking of the pencil being sharpened. The second one that I bought did not have this problem though, so it was just a fluke. And I don't mind having it taped. The center is supposed to turn blue when the pencil is finished sharpening, most of the time mine does not turn blue, but you can feel when the pencil is sharpened. Again, this is not a problem.

It is fast. It is sharp. It is MATH teacher approved. Keep this one behind your desk. It is one you do not want kids to mess with. It will last you years. Keep the colored pencils away from it, and it will keep those pencils sharp. It has a large tank so you won't have to empty it every week. I got it in August, and have not emptied it yet. It is now January. Quoted from a kid - "That's a pencil sharpener right there!"

I regret buying this product. It’s the second one I bought and they both stopped working in less than a year. I am a first grade teacher and it’s convenient to have but they don’t last. I don’t allow students to use it the second time around to see if it would last but it didn’t.

I purchased this for my prismacolor eraseble pencils and it sharpens them beautifully. I used to sharpen my pencils and as soon as I tried to draw with them the tips would break off. This sharpener doesn’t do that. They are sharper than my my old sharpener and don’t break now. I even used it on my fabrice chalk pencils and they no longer break during use. Fantastic sharpener, well worth the extra money!

Lo compré para la casa, con sacapuntas normales batallaban en ocasiones mis hijos, se atoraban las puntas, dejaban basura, etc… con esto ya solucionado y súper buena punta que saca.

El mejor sacapuntas electrico que he comprado, nada que ver con las calidades dd Office Depot y en el mismo precio. Excelente Potencia, Gran capacidad de residuos y lo mejor las ventosa de sujeción al escritorio.
