Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing - PlayStation 3

My kids love this and they said it was really nice and fun

We wanted a racing game that would suite all ages since we have a 4 and 6 yr old but yet something our whole family could play together. After researching, my Husband found this game had wonderful reviews and could play up to 4 players on a split screen at one time. We bought it used/like new on Amazon and it is now our family's favorite :) There are lots of characters to pick and many tracks to utilize so it keeps the game interesting. There are different difficulty levels that are a sinch to switch if my Husband and I want to race eachother only. Also, I like that you can switch each remote to one of several different racing options because, for example, the buttons that work most comfortably for gas, steering, and shooting/items for my husband and I- don't work the best for our youngest daughter because her hands are so small that it makes it uncomfortable. Likewise, her method cramps our hands. I do like also that you can turn the commentator down or off because I don't like some of the phrases he uses and don't want my daughters repeating phrases such as "shutup!" and "he's sucking fumes"... etc. Also, great graphics, colorful, and family-friendly. I highly recommend!!!

I hate seeing good products go unappreciated, and that's why I'm writing this review. I have no doubt in my mind that if the words "Sonic" and "Sega" were replaced by "Mario" and "Nintendo" in the title, this game would have already sold a million copies day one. Apparently brand name is that important to the casual gamer...and that's a shame, because this is a fun, well made game that deserves a chance. It's not as if the characters are unfamiliar. Sonic, Shadow, Amy Rose, Tails, Knuckles, Dr. Robotnik, Jacky and Akira from Virtua Fighter. Characters from million selling hit games. Just like Mario Kart. It's not as if the game isn't exciting. It's racing! The controls are responsive and fast. The tracks are anywhere from simple to quirky to challenging. Just like Mario Kart. It's not as if the game is ugly. Sleek presentation. Very colorful racers and environments. Cute/funny/ridiculous animations. Just like Mario Kart. It's not as if the game is tough on the ears. The sound effects compliment the action nicely, while you're treated to classic themes that you might recognize from previous games. And, plenty of exaggerated voice samples that range from hilarious to cheesy. Just like Mario Kart. The game has received solid reviews from gaming websites, casual players around the web, other Amazon reviewers, and now little ol' me. What more does it take to get people to open their minds? Hey, if you squint, Sonic sorta looks a little like Mario...they're both red and blue. Will that do it for you? Will pretending that it's a Mario game actually allow people to forget blind brand loyalty and try something that they will probably enjoy just as much? Well, whatever you have to do, do it. As long as it lets you let yourself enjoy a good game.

Wonderful item.

Sonic racing has come a long way. But this is where it all began as a competitor to Mario Kart. And i think it was a solid first installment to the franchise. It has a very good roster, and i had a blast.

This game is solid, a lot of fun, very easy to get into and has very good graphics. The cars control just right so you aren't constantly wasting time bumping into stuff and getting further and further behind in the race. The only thing I didn't like is that some of the track themes are too garish. You will find a few favorites for sure (I found about 4 or 5). The House of The Dead tracks are nicely laid out (even though I wish those tracks had more spooky sights and sounds like thunder and lightning) and the track that runs underneath the ocean (Ocean Ruin?) is also a winner to name a few favorites. I didn't like the tracks with the festival theme. I found them to be too over populated with stuff and just plain overdone even for this type of game. I also did not like the Casino and Bingo tracks nor the industial looking tracks complete with robots getting in your way. I hope they have another one coming our next year as again it's easy to get into. Now if somehow H2Overdrive could be ported from the arcades to the PS3. Now that would be super nice.

Not worth the price.

Until I found Sonic Racing I was convinced there was nothing to compare to Mario Kart on the PS3 - the reviews for Little Big Planet Karting made it sound like a frustrating mess I didnt want to touch, and having tried Modnation racing and sold it with in a week I was not seeing a lot of hope. Sonic plays fast and furious with loads of options and a decent reward system giving you the chance to purchase new tracks, racers and even music. The weapons are fun and cause you an inconvenience if you get hit rather than bouts of indignant rage as you go from 1st to last place in the blink of an eye. If there is any critiscism of the game from me it would be that so far the computer controlled racers appear a little on the easy side, and generally if there are a couple of you racing you will always end up first and second with the AI players way behind.

Simple play. Simple format. Hours of fun

Extremely disappointed, the game is corrupt and disconnect after every minute.
