The First one I installed span in hole, the wall side plug end. I used the drill size required. After that I used slightly smaller bit for tighter fit and they worked ok. Strong and hold shelf well. Take your time to align holes, you can adjust the bolts a little with a hammer if not fully lining up.

Glad i found these, and they worked a treat when using them spend time setting out use masking tape so holes line up in both shelf and wall. drill 12mm hole in wall keep it level and then the 10mm in the shelf as described. fix then to the wall and slide the shelf on simple

These are ideal for disguising the support for your shelf making it really seem to float against the wall. Drilling 75 cm into stone was no fun, fun that's the price for these brilliant fixtures I was happy to pay.

These work well on 1-2 inch shelves, but don’t feel sturdy enough for to called heavy duty

I used these brackets along with some furniture/chipboard offcuts, and I'm pleasantly surprised by how easy they are to use and how strong they are. I used three brackets on each of these 1,100 x 120mm shelves, although two would have been enough the third one stops the shelf from sagging. You'll need a 10mm wood bit that is at the very least 120mm long (to get 20mm in the chuck and holes 100mm deep), and the wall must be solid construction.
