Canned Chanterelle Mushrooms, Specialty Canned Food, 7.9-Ounce Can

It's hard to get fresh chanterelles around here, so this is the way to go. The flavor is excellent. Just be aware that they tend to be very salty right out of the can, so you may want to rinse the mushrooms before cooking them.

These chanterelles are wonderful. They have amazing meaty flavor. Goes great with fried potatoes. They are pricey but chanterelles are expensive. For the people who expected dry mushrooms, the picture of the can is right in the description and the description says can. They are way better then dried which are a pain to rehydrate and get the grit out. For a special occasion, can’t go wrong with these.

I did not like these. I am a wild mushroom hunter but I also like canned goods when done right. These were something I absolutely had to check out since they are my favorite wild mushroom. When I opened the can, I had expected that the color would be preserved since there were preservatives added. They were a brownish gray color. Not the yellow / orange they should be. I thought I could make them taste good by sautéing in butter before adding to my wild rice. Still, they were not very good. They have the flavor of chanterelles, but not like fresh.... more diluted. I chopped them up to make them disappear in the rice. I just didn't want a bite full of mushy Chantelle. Oh well. How would I know unless I got one and tried it. Don't waste your money. They were gross.

I love the flavor and texture, but I don't love the price or that half of the cans arrive dented. They are often thrown into the box with other stuff and are not orderly stacked in a tight-fitting box. For an expensive item like this, it's not cool.

Tacked this onto another order to hit the free shipping threshold. I've never had chanterelle mushrooms before and cooked them in a cream sauce with garlic and shallots over fettuccine. They have a wonderful and deep earthy flavor, comparable to porcini mushrooms. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal and I will definitely order these again soon.
