Finally, A Set Of Phones That I Can Block Spam Calls
The VTech handsets were ordered for use with our landline.Since we have a security system that operates from cell phones and landlines, we ordered a new set of handsets and base. This set has so many features that it would take a book to review every feature. This particular system came with a base & 5 handsets. However, it is also expandable up to 12 handsets. The first and primary feature that I like is that I can block phone calls very similar to the way calls are blocked on my cell phone. If I am on a call, and it is from spam call, the "block" button can be pressed and added to the block list. Also, I can manually add numbers to the block list by entering the number and name on the call. The second feature that I like is that I can pair up to 2 cell phones (or 1 cell phone and a bluetooth headset) to the base. There is also a headset jack in case a person wants to use that type of ear phones rather than bluetooth. If a call is received on my cell phone and it is in within about 20 feet of the base, the call can be answered on one of the handsets. Similarly, a phone call can be made from the hand set as if it were my cell phone. In addition, I can block calls on the base that come in on the handsets by pressing the block button while the call is still in the process. The sound of the caller coming through the handsets and the speaker phone is very good quality, and the volume can be raised or lowered dependent upon the needs of the person using the handset. To date, we have not had any issues with regard to the sound quality or volume of the sounds coming through the system.Another feature that I like and use is that the contacts on my cell phone and my wife's cell phone can be downloaded onto the base for use on all handsets. There is also an "allow" call list that must be manually entered into the handsets, so that the numbers we want to come through without being rejected by the VTech system. Once a number & name is entered into this database, the call will come through. If the number is not in the list, the caller will receive a message asking them to press the "#" in order for their call to be received by us. There are other options available that allow for various levels of security, again, based upon the needs of the person who has the system.Like most phone systems, a person can add a message for those wanting to leave as voice mail. The phone holds up to 22 minutes of messages, and that should be sufficient for our use.Another feature that I really like is that a handset can be used a very long range from the base. According to the product description, the handset can be used "up to 2300 feet" from the base. The distance would be dependent on the structure of the house, the walls, and probably the terrain in the 2300 feet. 0That's almost 1/2 mile. I have not tested this as yet, but my mailbox is about 1/4 from the house, so I will find out whether that works for me or not. Frankly, whether it does is not an issue, since the handset would not normally be used more than 100 feet from the house when I working in the yard or garden. Finally, the base has a screen that is 3.5 inches long and about 1.5 inches tall. The handsets have a 2 inch screen. Also, the lettering on the screens, especially the base, is large, very large. Seniors and individuals who are somewhat nearsighted should not have major issues seeing the screens. As one who is in both categories, the screens are very readable for me.BOTTOM LINE: This is one great phone system. It replaces a Panasonic system that I had for many years that also had 5 handsets, but did not have as many features. The pricing for this system is very competitive, and we are thoroughly satisfied with it. It also comes in versions with 3 and 4 handsets. I would order the VTech phone system again, and will probably order 2 - 3 more handsets for the apartment in our 1st floor basement.

I'm hoping that this V-tech system is as good as the last 2.
Pros: #1 This handset system system is packed with features that I like . I Am pleased that I can configurethis system to stay silent and the ringers I am used to, ring instead, including my cell phone'sring while it is Bluetoothed to this phoneand two vintage 1960s land line phones., a TouchTone North Electric white Ericofon and a black Automatic Electric Type 80 desktop phone.Cons: Like all phones for the past 25 years days, This phone system DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH VOLUMEBOOST. CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?!!! (one star off my rating ) #2 its a V-tech and I hope and expect to get as good and long service out of it as I have past Vtechsystems (2) since the mid 1990s, unlike more expensive AT&T and Panasonic systems I and myfamily tried. Years ago just before ditching a more expensive new AT&T system from Amazon thatstarted going dead, hand set by hand set within the month, My brother asked my opinion abouthim buying a $200 AT&T system for his home business and I said "Heck no!" "What brand do yourecommend?" he asked. I replied "I don't know about the phones, but Panasonic has good tvs andother electronics so I recommend them." His reply was that he had favored the AT&Ts for the betterprice, but he didn't want junk, so he would followed my recommendation and got a $200+Panasonicsystem back in '07. In the meantime, we were without a home phone, my motherand I wereliving together. So on a visit to her sisters who had a V-tech phone, she brought home a littlesub $40 V-techset which I just retired today. Regardingthat system's performance, between 'O7 and now I had 1 handset of the 2 on that system go out, which I replaced with a used one and a refurbished one with another base and the refurbed onewent bad right away and I've since learned that that's what "refurbished" electronics always do no ,matter the brand or equipment. So when I buy something used, needless to say It's NEVER"refurbished." (free advice).Back to the'07 phone saga, the expensive Panasonic system my brother got lasted JUST Outside thethe warranty period and totally failed, every handset, the entire system!#3 So it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway: when it comes to land line phone systems, It'sonly V-tech for me and my family members before they all passed away in the last decade '13, '16for my brother and mother,'18 (my daughter's mother), '19 (my daughter), and '20 (My step-son, bysuicide, after his beloved sister and mother had died in just the past 2 years)

A slew of features, nice screen displays, good range, good voice quality
Generally a quite good product at a very good price. My major complaint is that it doesn't have a night mode feature that would automatically turn it off on a fixed schedule each night. I had that feature on my older phone, and it was a great convenience. Now I have to manually put it into quiet mode before going to bed, enter how long I want it to be quiet, turn off the voice mail feature (which we don't use anyway, having voice mail as part of our phone service), and repeat the next night. It tells me when a call is likely to be spam, and there's a simple way to block numbers that you discover are spam after you pick up.
