I am *not* a nail tech, just someone who polished her nails a lot for fun and swatching for indie makers, so take this as a non-professional use report please. I found this super easy to use, even for a natural-nails preferred neophyte. I’ve used polygel once before, but it was ages ago. I broke a thumb nail and needed to fix it ASAP for some instagram swatches. (See sad before pic.) This kit arrived super fast, and had everything I needed — except for the lamp of course.I followed the directions, making sure to lightly buff and thoroughly clean my natural nail with pure acetone first (alcohol also works). After curing a very thin coat of the included basecoat, I squeezed some clear gel onto the form I had selected that best fit my thumb. Using the slip solution (squirted into the adorable included glass cup), I wet the brush and gently tapped and pushed the gel around until it filled the form to a little beyond my desired length. Then I gently set it on my thumbnail and squeezed super gently to remove air bubbles (I missed a few underneath but it didn’t affect the final outcome). I cleaned up any gel touching my skin/cuticles with a quick swipe with a brush with pure acetone, then cured for 90 seconds under my LED lamp. With a gentle squeeze and twist, the form popped right off. I cured for another 20 seconds then, just to be sure.Next, I smoothed the rough edges and shaped the nail using the included file, and then buffed it smooth with a white buffing block from a beauty supply store. Next, after wiping all the dust away with a lint-free wipe and rubbing alcohol, I applied and cured the included topcoat. Sure I had some bubbles on the underside, but after a coat of regular nail polish, they didn’t matter. With practice I think I’ll do much better. If your nail is as short as mine was, I recommend applying one of those stick-on nail forms to cover the exposed nailbed, just for comfort, before applying the polygel on the form.Overall, this was super easy, and it’s showing no signs of lifting — I’ll update later if I remember, to say how long it stayed on.P.S., if you run out of slip solution, rubbing alcohol works perfectly.UPDATE: After 3 weeks, it was still going strong, but I removed it because I wanted to go back to my natural nail.

So, first I have no idea how to use polygel so this is my honest review of this product. The directions were very clear and helped with the process although I watched plenty of YouTube videos and TikTok’s on how to use the product. This kit has everything you need besides the lamp, but overall it’s good but hard to get used to. I obviously need to work at it some more because my nails took almost 3 hours to do and fell off the next day 😭 but like I said could very well be a user error lol. Very good product for the price point. Just do your research with how to apply them and practice because it’s not easy nor is it a fast job. I put my press ons in 10 minutes at most and they last me weeks. But I’m used to them, I will definitely be giving this time and trial and error. Definitely a good buy to try it out. Especially for the price point!

They do not stay on long at all and they are not sturdy
