The food is very good quality. It's appearance is itvery near human grade and it has no smell like some do, the smell that makes you think it's time to toss it. Not so with this food. Of course, that is no guarantee that any cat will love it or even like it. Cats are fickle. That's well known by nearly everyone. So some cats will like it, some will love it, and some will give you that nasty look as they walk away from it. The texture of the different flavors varied. Some had larger pieces and some were almost pate-like. You know what your cats' preferences are. Buy accordingly. Although mine will turn away from almost anything that isn't pate. God forbid they should have to chew! But with this they loved the one with huge chunks of sardines in it. Who'd-a thunkit'? Then one or two others that were much more like their favorite that I thought they'd like, they wouldn't touch. Cats! What can you do? As I said, good ingredients. None of the dreaded carageenan, but guar gum and tapioca starch DO make appearances. The protein content is higher than most. With 8 or 9% being the norm, the HQS mackerel and sweet potatoes has a decent 12% protein, with 1.5% fat. The latter is a little low for the average cat. They need fat in their diets just as any good carnivore does. Too low can be just as bad as too high in the long term. But that's just this one. I haven't checked them all, but I don't think it's a trend. Although the fact that it's in the HQS line, makes me feel a little disappointed. I bought this on sale. For the regular price HQS, which stands for High Quality Sourced, led me to assume it also meant high quality ingredients. You know what they say when you assume. I guess this is a perfect example. Overall I really think the food is a very good quality one for cats, if they like it and will eat it. But the price makes me look elsewhere. Why would anybody spend $40 bucks on 24 - 3oz cans when it's still got fillers (ie. guar gum and tapioca starch)? On sale, okay. Regular price, no way! Sorry, but this whole overpricing with respect to cat food is really getting out of hand. The foods are still the same quality as before and, as before they're designed to look appealing to people rather than being good for the people's pets. My cats never once looked at a label before deciding whether or not to eat their food! Don't fall for the hype. Now all the brands are taking advantage of the shortage of cat food (and people food) and have been raising the prices to ridiculous levels. A certain low quality, low cost cat food has gone from 50 cents a can to 80 cents in the past several months. (In some places it's over a dollar!) When cat food, no matter what flavor, becomes more expensive per pound than filet mignon and lobster, combined, that's about when I say enough is enough. If I'm going to pay that much for food, I better not see things like guar and xantham gum, or carageenan. And what exactly is the purpose of peas, potatoes, carrots and spinach in the food for an obligate carnivore?! You're telling me that these companies, some of whom have been in the pet food business for decades, don't know that cats can not digest plant proteins? Of the few that can, they don't do it well and generally have digestive issues along with it. Same thing happened when they began forcing cattle to eat corn instead of grazing on grass and other weeds and whatnots. I think we should get together and stop buying for a week or two and demand better ingredients. And that's all I have to say about that!

My cat likes this stuff. The chicken and fish look like real ingredients, not just weird pate.

This seemed like a great product but unfortunately our babies just really didn’t seem to enjoy it so we donated it to a rescue. We just have really fussy kitties, I’m sure someone at the shelter enjoyed this very much!

Bought this high-end cat food for my fancy feline… who sniffed it, gave me side-eye, and walked away like I’d offended her ancestors. Enter my dog—part garbage disposal, part opportunist. He devoured it like it was Michelin-starred cuisine. I’ve never seen him so focused. Eyes dilated. Tail spinning like a propeller. Now he refuses his own food and waits by the cat’s bowl like he’s standing in line at a food truck. The cat is outraged. The dog is thriving. I’ve accidentally created a very weird power dynamic in my household. Would I recommend? Yes—for cats who eat like dogs. And dogs with no shame. Bonus: Dog now purrs when he’s happy. Concern: Pretty sure he thinks he is a cat.

Although I feel it has more liquid than other brands, I do know that my cats love it, even the picky eater. It is expensive, too. Kitties happiness comes first.

I have 2 cats with Kidney disease & there on a strict royal canin renal rx diet can food... & I kno they get sick of it once in a while ill give in & give a little fancy feast or something... this food came up one day and I seen low phosphorus & someone else bring up how they use it for there kidney kitty... so I thought I'd try it & I'm happy I did my boy kidney cat loves em! Girl has her moments but it's a great alternative! Especially with the low phosphorus & natural food basically... the smell idk to keep its diff.... but my cats don't seem to mind and eat it so I guess it's whatever since they like it... happy to find something with an okay price (could be a tad better but given it's natural high quality... & low phosphorus.... I can't complain to much! Especially when kidney food just went UP AGAIN! $58 for a 24 pack case!) I only tend to buy the variety pack though as it's the cheapest... id prefer to buy chicken or turkey but I believe it was like 30 something... for a case... so I'll stick with the variety pack & hope it stays at the price it is!

As for me smell, taste and ingredients really well! But my cat doesn’t interested to try it, she really want to show me how she ignore this meal.
