Perfectly timed!
With all of us spending more time at home due to COVID-19 and worrying about health more generally, this book is the perfect home companion to help improve wellness at home, whether you own or rent. Wellness by Design is a well-organized, well-written and very useful how-to book addressing practical steps you can take now to improve your health in your home and reduce risk factors. I found its room-by-room approach helped me get over the initial hurdle for any book like this, which is breaking down a big topic into small projects that are doable in a COVID-crazed period when demands upon our time are many. Its discussion of the different health properties of different materials is something I have never encountered before and one I hope to implement when we remodel our kitchen area. I also think it is a great gift idea for someone else -- it shows you care about their health and who doesn't want to know more about how to make their living space better and more healthful! I highly recommend it -- Dave Tobenkin

Healthier home for my family
This book came at the right time. After relocating and moving into my first fixer-upper, this book became my go to for a bit. I needed to change some unhealthy habits. It inspired me to create a space for my new hobby, Pilates. And both my kids have asthma so it offered some splendid methods to aid and counteract its effects. It’s’ simple techniques allowed me to explore my space with creative agency. I was able to avoid some not thought of pitfalls, rather I enhanced each room. The read is quick and accessible to beginner and master builders, alike. All can benefit from this book.

Not What I Thought!
The book was ok in that it discussed features concerning organizational aspects of creating space, but if you already are living in a house, most of the changes would be too late.

FULL OF WONDERFUL IDEAS EASY TO IMPLEMENT
Extremely informative book full of great ideas for the home regardless of where you may be in your home upgrade process. I completed a gut and remodel of my small home a few years ago and vowed not to make any changes or spend another dollar on it for at least a decade; however, this book convinced me otherwise. I implemented several of its suggestions on how to organize and personalize my home which indeed contributed to my contentment with a smile; likewise, I also made some of the suggested small inexpensive upgrades which improved my physical comfort and sense of security. I highly recommend this book. You will be challenged to read it and not desire to go forward with at least a few positive changes to your home.

Great how-to on health and wellness
I love this book. It's well organized and well written. The author, Jamie Gold, is obviously very knowledgeable about home design and how it can help us reach a healthier state of being. During these uncertain times, this book is especially important; it offers us a how-to on creating our own respite from the turbulence of outside issues.

Go for the Gold
Jamie Gold is a leading voice in the architecture & design industry, and particularly kitchen & bath (she's a Certified Kitchen Designer through the NKBA). I've read her work for years, and stay apprised of her column on Forbes.com. Her latest book - Wellness by Design - is great. Following a lot of research, she dives into the intersection between interior design and wellness, laying out the 5 facets of wellness design. They're all important considerations, as our homes should not only reflect our aesthetic tastes and preferences, but also support our health and wellbeing. It's a great resource for homeowners and design enthusiasts.
