Save your money on a Clarisonic and get a pore unlocking mini spa every night!
I am sorry to hear about the previous comment about it exploding in the face--I have had no such problems and have used this Conair product for several months every evening. After watching the "Secret Life of a Bionerd"'s youtube tutorial on using a mixture of oils as a way to combat oily skin (sounds crazy I know!) I had to give it a try. The results are better by far than devices that cost triple (including the Clairisonic facial scrubber). I have oily skin but using harsh astringents really just makes you skin produce more oil to combat being dried out. I have never given myself a home facial like this and it's a real treat! 5 minutes a day of zen time before I hop into bed and my pores are open and ready for any creams or serums you may collect--especially those pricy Sephora samples! It is pretty idiot proof as there is a tiny fill cup you fill to the line, hit a button to start it --> it beeps, then you hit another button for the timer and it shuts off automatically after how ever long you have it set for. Easy routine to add to your skin care that offers incredible results and feels so relaxing to have the hot steam. Sure you could use a towel, but wetting towels over and over again and washing them versus leaning over this machine that continuously creates steam and is easy to empty and fill....it really is a no brainer. I recommend this to seasoned beauty veterans and first timers alike. So happy with the product, even my boyfriend is thinking of getting one!!

Excellent durable product, made to last
I bought this Conair facial sauna (MDF2R)about a month ago and so far i have used it 4 times without any problems. The item is really easy to use out of the box. Before buying this product i was concerned about the safety issue since someone had posted that the blue neck is not long enough and it might be too close to the hot water. Let me clear your doubts, the water is never boiling (bubbling) so there is no splashing going on and there is more then enough room (safety space) between your face and the hot water. You will have to move your face to either sides if you wish to steam those areas. The steam is pretty stationary and only moves while you exhale from your nose. So there is a little learning curve and you will leaned to move your face to the right angle in order to make the steam hit those spots. The easiest way to use the product is on a waist level table OR on a bathroom sink counter while sitting on a chair. That way you will be comfortable and you can hold the base of the steamer with one hand (for safety) and use the other if you wish to keep a towel over your head. So far i have not witnessed any hissing noises since i only use the machine for 15mins or under with still little water left in the reservoir. The timer works pretty good also and it can be turned on only after the water has reached its temperature. I have not used any of the attachments since I don't have any need for them and therefore i will not review on it. I definitely recommend this product if you are in the market for a facial sauna. When i purchased this item little more then a month ago it was 20 bucks even and i see that it has gone down a bit since then so good luck.

Good for Colds or Beauty
I bought this facial steamer for allergy and cold relief, but have also enjoyed it for beauty purposes. The pros are that it comes with a facial cone for beauty needs, and a nasal cone for health needs. I also love the color, the timer, and the level of heat that the steam reaches. Its not too hot to bear, but its definitely not lukewarm. My only complaints (and why I gave it 4 stars) is that while it produces a nice volume of steam, it doesn't billow out like crazy (don't expect clouds and clouds of steam) and I didn't feel like the facial cone angled the steam in the right way. Unless you rest your face on the cone itself (which isn't comfortable and which is kinda suffocating with the amount of steam coming at you) it doesn't really hit your forehead with steam the way it hits the rest of your face. That being said, if you put a towel over your head (which I DEFINITELY recommend for colds, and which is optionally helpful for beauty steams) then the heat of the steam can open your pores on your whole face, including your forehead. The facial cone is not a deal breaker for me, and I still feel like this is a good beauty product that will improve anyone's skincare regime. I did not use the brush that it came with, as I had my own already. But I like the size of it, and it seems to be good quality from appearances. If you are looking for cold/allergy relief, buy this, as well as some peppermint essential oil. A few drops of oil, with water, in this steamer will greatly relieve congestion. For a cleansing beauty aid, use this steamer before deep cleaning your face with the brush. And finish by applying products to your freshly cleaned face, with or without the foam applicator brush head. I would recommend this product!

Do I think the funnel could have been designed better? Heck yes
I've had this thing for about three years. While steam output is less than boiling water in a pot on the stove, being able to direct all the steam onto your face makes it comparable without having to run all over the house. Plus, it takes less time to heat up, and it has a timer that beeps when it's ready. Do I think the funnel could have been designed better? Heck yes, but I've had time to give it some thought (because what else do you do when your face is in a bowl?), and I think I've figured out what the designer had in mind. Hear me out. Given the small boiler and slightly lower steam output, I think the idea is that you're not supposed to steam your entire face at one time, but are rather supposed to do one side and then the other, and then possibly your forehead separately. When I first got this thing, I turned it around and around trying to figure out how this was supposed to work. What sort of squash-faced alien thought this was a good idea? But if you're leaning over it when it's sitting on the bathroom counter, and you turn your head so that your chin rests inside the bottom lip, it actually fits pretty well. And, of course, they don't want you to suffocate while you're down there, so they left some breathing space for your nose. I don't actually think doing it that way was entirely necessary, because there seems to be adequate steam to do your entire face at once (draping a towel over your head contains all of the steam quite well for an all-over job, too), but I thought 20 bucks was a great price for the convenience of having a small face steamer in the bathroom. Considering it's held up well over the years, I can't really complain. It does seem to work best when the boiler is full. If the water gets low, the heat output is greater than the steam output, but I honestly never get to that point with one use. It has the option of a fifteen minute timer, but I usually feel "refreshed" after about three, even with having to turn my face, even with the small surface area of water releasing steam. Would I recommend to a friend? Yes, if they're cheap like me. For the money, it seems to work just fine.

Conair MDF2R Facial Sauna With Timer - Good Value, Nice Unit, Could be Better
The Conair MDF2R Facial Sauna With Timer is a nice product for steaming your face. The size is large enough for most people with small to medium sized faces, though many will have to adjust their heads side to side to get even steaming all around. This is a product that will most likely be used more by women than men, and the face cup seems to be designed with that in mind. I purchased this as a gift for somebody. While they enjoyed it, it ended up being one of those items that gets infrequent use. I started using it after that. After doing some testing on it myself, I found that there were some good things about it and some that could be improved. PROS: + Very fair list price and a good value for the mix of functions + Seems to work relatively well, depending on your needs + Nice compact size + Simple controls are intuitive to figure out + Decent amount of steam is produced quickly + Timer feature and auto-shut-off will be a pluses for some + Extra sinus attachment may be useful for some + Both the normal steamer or sinus attachment help to relieve congestion + 2 year warrantee is quite generous given the price CONS: - The face brush doesn't produce enough friction to really perform deep cleaning - More heads on the brush would have also been nice - The unit little water, requiring most people to refill it to finish a session - Difficult to position yourself for comfort and full coverage - The edges of the bowl could have been better designed for comfort I am not sure if larger units that hold more water for steaming are sold here. This unit requires refills for a single session. That can be distracting when you are trying to use this alone. The face brush includes two small heads for cleaning and moisturizing, but doesn't seem extremely effective. Yet newer versions of the brush concept may not necessarily be better than a washcloth to gently clean away dead layers and dirt from your face. This item works, but there are alternatives. The jury is still out on similar tools, even those with wider cleaning heads like the Neutrogena Wave Deep Clean Foaming Pad . Even tools like the Clean & Clear Blackhead Eraser Kit may deserve consideration for cleaning out problem areas. More established tools like the Clarisonic PRO Professional Skin Care System have prohibitively high price tags. Many will find that the steam helps not only with skin care but also with opening the sinuses. Higher end steamers are also hard to find, but if you are primarily looking for something to aid your sinuses the Vicks Personal Steam Inhaler is probably worth looking into. Finally, the number of creams and other cleansers that may achieve similar results without steaming is almost infinite. If you need steam at the cheapest price, this unit is a good consideration. If you want a little bit more comfort and capacity you may want to try another product. Enjoy.

At last, I can look at myself in the mirror & smile! :)
I bought this versus paying $45 at the salon. For once in my life, my face has lasted more than five minutes without being greasy at all. I couldn't believe how it practically shrunk my pimples and made my face feel fresh & if every pore is alive. I'm the kind that no matter how many times I wash, what I use or how I use it... That grease look is there. It was GONE!!!! And after ONE use! Here's the other thing, it has a special sinus took you can use, it works wonder. My lips get chapped from breathing through my mouth all the time. I even had surgery for my sinus to no avail (hurt more than labor), even that didn't do much. After using it with a towel (locks in the stream perfectly), I stood up and took a breather through my nose. I started coughing from how well I could breath versus the strain my nose goes through daily. Best purchase of my life. Forget doctors for sinus, forget the salon for better skin and way less acne... It'll be the best thing you've bought for yourself versus another pair of heels you can't even walk in. Do it, I am so happy right now with each breath I take. I don't feel exhausted. I feel absolution.

Conair all day, every day
I am absolutely in LOVE with this face steamer. I bought this for myself because I read an article about face steaming benefits. After over a month of using this I feel like my skin has definitely improved. It feels more healthier, radiant and softer. My forehead started to break out a bit a few weeks before I even considered buying this, and it is so amazing how it cleared it up. I bought this Conair one because I feel like I've always used some sort of Conair product in my life - hair brush, dryer, etc. and I feel like I just can't go wrong with them. I am very confident to say I didn't go wrong on this one either. When I first received this product I used it for 3 days straight just to test it out and I saw results after the second time. Right now, I personally like to use this at least once a week either before I shower or afterwards. This product comes with two different size cones, but I just use the largest size to get my whole face. It also includes a facial brush which is also nice too for the price that you pay compared to expensive facial brushes! I definitely feel like my own home is a spa when I whip out my steamer!

Don't Do It!
I burned my face!...Yes the instructions say don't stick your face all the way into it so as to not rest any part of your face on the rim. I did not rest my face on the rim, I was about 1 inch away. The problem with this unit: you are basically just inches away from the boiling water, which relies on passive dispersion-the heated water turns into gas which then rises. So, if you are far enough away, it is really pointless as most of the steam will not pass your face and escape between the rim and your face. If your are close enough to expose all of your face to the steam, your chin, mouth and nose will be too close to the surface of the boiling water. This should have been designed better with an additional chamber that holds the steam and with openings to then diffuse it. You would be much better off just boiling some water into a pot, pour it into a bowl and put a towel over your head. Much safer. I ended up buying a unit that actually dispenses steam/ mist / water vapor through a nozzle and my face is never near the part that does that-that feel very good. That said, never let someone use this that does not understand this, or make sure you are there to supervise.
