Great toner cartridges to avoid Canon’s rip-off pricing
2-1/2 years ago I bought a Canon imageCLASS MF743cdw printer. I don’t do a lot of printing so it was nearly a year before the printer started to complain about low toner. At that point I was in for a major shock learning that a full set of high-capacity toner cartridges from Canon would cost 50% more than I paid for the printer! Immediately started looking for other options. Someone I know recommended TRUE IMAGE cartridges as he had purchased a set for his Canon printer (a different model) and had good luck with them including great support when one of the cartridges was misbehaving.First up, the TRUE IMAGE high-capacity cartridges for my printer (series 055H) cost less than 1/6 of what Canon wanted for name-brand replacements. Another good thing about them is that they come with a logic chip so that the printer can communicate with the cartridges. More about the chip later, but know that it is an essential component. Other brands want you to salvage the chip from your old cartridge and reuse it on the new one, which only works a couple of times before the chip itself dies. Now here is where Canon strikes again. I received the new cartridges but I didn’t want to swap them in until the old ones were thoroughly depleted. That took another 1-1/2 years! Apparently, the Canon cartridges start to report as low when they are less than half used up. Canon makes a great printer in the MF743cdw, but some of the tricks they use are really deplorable. The day finally came to swap out the cartridges. Unfortunately, at this point I did run into an issue with the new ones. One cartridge, cyan, was not recognized at all. Most likely the chip was bad. Further, the magenta cartridge had a slight alignment issue on test prints. It was only a fraction of a millimeter, but you could still tell. What am I to do now? I’ve had these for over 1-1/2 years so my options are limited, right? Wrong! An email to TRUE IMAGE asking for possible fixes resulted in a response the next day asking for more information regarding the messages displayed and a sample of the bad alignment. A day after I sent the requested information I received another email offering to replace both cartridges. One form later, of course there is going to be some paperwork, I had two replacement cartridges on the way which arrived in only a couple of days. The two new cartridges worked great. The design has changed slightly since my original order and the new cartridges appear a bit stronger (as in less flimsy) than the old ones. You can tell the new design by “remove before use” plugs that you take out of the sides. The original design didn’t have these. All four cartridges, two from original order and two replacements, are now working and producing clear printouts.OK, back to the chip. Of course, Canon being Canon, they complain about third party chips. Any time the printer powers on it shows a warning about how bad third party (they call them counterfeit) cartridges are. Once you dismiss that message from the console, it won’t come back until the printer is powered off and on again. The one other thing to be aware of is that Canon won’t report toner low status with third party cartridges. Of course, based on what I wrote above, Canon’s report when toner is low doesn’t mean much so you are not losing anything here. Just do a test page once in a while, using any of the free calibration pages out there, to see when output starts to fade. One other sign may be if the printer spends a lot more time churning between prints. That may indicate that it is having trouble getting enough toner into the right spot for print. Considering the print volume I produce, these cartridges should last me for several years, but hopefully this helps others to diagnose when toner is getting low.In the end, I’m very happy with the product and extremely happy with the support. I definitely recommend TRUE IMAGE for replacement toner cartridges over Canon’s overpriced option.

Inferior Product
Affordable? Yes. Compatible? Questionable. Hassle-free? Nope, try again. This product is inferior and does not work as intended. The color ink bleeds and leaves streaks on printed invoices. The cartridges (multiple batches) are desultory. Some arrive intact, some don't. The cartridges are leaking powdered ink right out of the packaging. This is not an isolated incident. I've purchased multiple boxes over the last few months for my business. I print invoices each month and every print session is a nightmare of reprinting invoice after invoice due to the streaking. I should be able to print a batch of invoices and trust the ink won't smear or streak. Instead I have to print one invoice at a time and review the quality before printing another invoice. Each month of printing has yielded the same disappointing result. Not only do I have to waste time reprinting and wasting paper (sorry trees), I also have to spend time cleaning my printer from the ink cloud that has coated every inch of my printer with a layer of colored ink dust. It's absurd. I will be returning this product. To all the five star reviewers here, I too was also promised a discount if I wrote a good review. I have in the past and after the fourth recurring issue, I've decided the discount isn't worth the effort involved in reviewing, reprinting and reaching out to True Image for non defective ink. To all users undecided, there are other compatible brands out there that are just as economical, but actually work. Good luck.

Quality product at a reasonable price
Finding quality and reasonably priced replaceable consumables for printing needs have often been an exercise in futility, frustration, and disappointment. Anyone reading this review can identify with that statement. The fact that it is almost cheaper to buy a replacement printer that it is to buy replacement ink or toner cartridges is a sad state of reality. All to often the cheaper alternatives to factory replacement supplies are a disappointment as they are often defective, cause printing jams and/or provide very poor print quality. This is what I have experienced from trying not to "break the bank" by buying replacement toner cartridges for my Canon MFC743C Color Laser printer. Until recently, all of the more "reasonably" priced toners have either produced poor quality prints or actually caused printer misfeeds because of the toner "bleeding" its contents into the printer. The latter causing a big cleanup mess that almost led to me having to replace my printer. With all that said, I tried one last time on replacement toner cartridges and keep my fingers crossed with desperate hope that maybe there is at least one provider that produces a product that works at a reasonable cost. If I sound a little dramatic, trust me there are a lot of people that feel my pain. I will say that this product not only works as well as the "insanely" priced factory cartridges but have lasted longer with the same output quality. I definitely plan to purchase again if these ever are depleted (smile). Seriously, I have gotten over 2,400 prints (Rated for 2,300 Black or 2,100 color) with no reduction in color quality. Maybe I've been just lucky, only time will tell, but for my money and piece on mind, these cartridges deliver as advertised.
