Make your acid loving plants happy
If you are growing blueberries, hydrangeas or any acid loving plant you need this. I used this to prep the soil prior to planting acid loving plants to create the appropriate soil acidity (pH). Then yearly to help maintain the appropriate pH. The first thing you need to do is get a soil test done so you know your current soil acidity level. Then follow the bag instruction to bring your pH to the level you desire. Then yearly maintenance. Make sure you work this fertilizer into the soil and just don't leave it sitting on top. In addition there are other things you can use to adjust pH like adding peet moss and acid fertilizers.I planted 14 varieties of blueberries and I added this to the soil to adjust pH to the optimal level for blueberries. This stuff just works. Within one year my blueberry plants went from a twig to a nice bush already producing blueberries. If you want big blueberries or amazing hydrangeas this is a must have to get the correct soil pH.Pros:Creates a more acidic pH for your plantsEasy to useGood instructionsI get big blueberries now ;)Cons:None after using for 4 years

Blueberry Soil Additive
Fertilizer works great, blueberries are acid lovers. However it will be the last 30 lb bag that I order. Last two years I have ordered this every 3 months. This is the second time in a row the bag arrives split open and fertilizer is dribbling out. Will order smaller bags in the future and see if they survive. Absolutely no packing inside the oversized box, so the problem starts with the seller. The soil additive is heavy, my guess is the box was dropped multiple times. Between the two creates a mess for me at this end. Not worth the hassle of returning, besides I needed to spread it now. Wear a mask, sulfur is dusty. After heavy rains will need to reapply. Even though bummed by the split open bag the product is great.

Great for Keeping Blueberry Bushes Happy
I live in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, and I have alkaline clay soil. I have a 2-acre orchard with 45 highbush blueberry bushes, which prefer acidic soil. So, I have been using this Espoma soil acidifier for the last fifteen years to keep the soil at optimal acidity levels for my blueberry bushes.I buy these 30-pound bulk bags to save money, and I have found that the price seems to vary wildly from day to day. So, if you don’t need it immediately, check back frequently to see if the price goes down if it is over fifty dollars. This acidifier is the safest product out there that I have found that I don’t worry about burning my plants. The instructions indicate to use 2.5 cups of acidifier per established blueberry bush, but I have found that much is not necessary if you mulch with pine bark mulch, which aids in acidity levels as well. I make sure that I have a heaping amount of pine bark mulch around each plant, and then only need to add 1/2 cup of this acidifier per plant by sprinkling it over the mulch before a good rainstorm each spring. This method has yielded me gallons upon gallons of blueberries each year with minimal effort and minimal cost, making this 30-pound bag of acidifier a great value.

My GoTo Organic Plant Fertilizer for Acidic Loving Blue Hydrangea/Plants for 20 Years
I think this is one of the best all-around outdoor organic plant fertilizers for blue flowering acidic loving plants such as Hydrangea that you can use. I've been using Espoma UL30 Organic Soil Acidifier Fertilizer for 20 years around all of my blue flowering plants / shrubs that thrive in Acidic soil. This includes my rhododendrons, hydrangeas and blueberries. It's great because it's organic, it's slow-release (takes time to get to the roots with watering and rain so can't burn) and super easy to apply. Because it's slow-release, I just sprinkle it on top of the soil all around the plant and then just use my finders to work it in. Note that this fertilizer is not for plants that don't want/thrive in acidic soil. For a general all-purpose fertilizer, my go to is Espoma Organic Plant-Tone 5-3-3 Natural & Organic All Purpose Plant Food.
