Best on the market but expensive
Best flood vent on the market, but expensive. The combination vent/flood vent means less vents you need to install overall. Stainless is forever, install and done.

Building inspector was very pleased with these!
These were recommended by a friend who use to be a building inspector. I installed two which was code required on my 14x24 shed. On the final inspection the current inspector was very impressed with these and said they would have more then necessary flow unlike the plastic ones he usually sees and has to fail based on inadequate flow. I was just glad to pass the inspection. These were not hard to frame out and install and I can always close them off inside right over the framing I put in. If you gotta install flow throughs these are the best.

It's ridiculous how much they charge for this vent; if the building department didn't force meet use 5 of these in my new construction garage, I wouldn't have bought them!

I am very pleased.
It lowered my flood insurance and keeps the wind from blowing under the house (crawl space). I am very pleased.

These are the worst flood vents I have ever encountered in my 30 years of construction and inspection experience. And to have them forced on builders, contractors and home owners by building codes and adopted ordinances just lets you know the hand is in the cookie jar through lobbyists pushing bills through to have this be the Fema recognized flood vent. These vents are $230 each which is extortion for a flood vent. These units a so delicate and finickity that I would say 80% of the ones I have inspected after Sandy did not open. Indeed the little float mechanism they have in there to open the vents gets overwhelmed by the smallest amount of dust and debris never mind storm debris. I test these regularly without having been subjected to any kind of water inflow or storm conditions and without fail the floats are stuck due to simple dust. This is corporate greed infiltrating the building codes with no regard for safety. A simple two flow hinged vent will do a perfect job for a 1/4 of the price and be more reliable. Dont waste your money unless the building department forces you to they do here in NJ

Vents are opened all the time
I have four of those installed on my garage under (NYR), Sandy recovery program. I wasn't pleased to find out that they stay open all the time. Actually they suppose to close under 37F. Thus all dust and gets into the garage. Don't mention that a little spring holds the dampers open and if something gets wrong with it my pipes will be frozen in no time. Metal flaps are made of tin metal and easy can be open by strong wind. These vents don't provide wind or freeze protection. I wish the architect did some research and install solid, flood vents instead these one.Perhaps they are good for Arizona, but definitely not for New York.
