Brave 7 LE Action Camera, Navitve 4K 20MP IPX7 Underwater Camera

Update after more than a year of use The camera may be old but, after a year of use, I decided to update the review because I actually grew very fond of it. The camera offers an amazing value for money and a rich set of features. The other positive reviews cover the gist. It is very reliable and well made. I never had any issue with it and it survived a couple of hard falls at speed on tarmac. During daylight, the video is clear even at the low resolutions and the colours bright and pleasant. Lots of settings to play with and get the desired results whether it's video, photos or slow mo etc. The killer feature for me were the two batteries and the dual charger. That would give me more than two full hours of solid video recording, which matters to me. It also comes with an extensive set of mounts and adapters covering very different uses. It's also easy to attache it on some gopro mounts which was useful for me as I had a set of 3d printed custom mounts and the transition was seamless. For the record, I had two complains: One was solved after a bit of experimentation and it was that I would often stop the camera unknowingly by touching the screen. I figured out that when you have lock enabled AND start the recording with the button instead works perfectly as it will only stop the recording by pressing the button. The second was that it would lose the date/time when left without batteries an issue. This may be solved by their support, in which case I will update. Finally, the communications I had with the company regarding had been top quality indicative of a top notch support.

Hi Folks! I do a lot of outdoor adventures ( Long distance hiking, Kayak Touring, EMTB / Bike Packing etc. ) I've always taken my Sony RX100 to take stills but, thought I'd start recording videos for social media etc.. and wanted an action cam that would get me started and wouldn't break the bank. I didn't want to spend Gopro money to find I found the video thing a faff. So, I did some research and cheeked out reviews online and saw that the Akaso brand was one of the best at a more budget friendly price. I finally went for the Brave 7 LE for a paddling trip 85 miles down the river Wye, Wales, UK to see what I could capture on video. WOW! I have to say I'm blown away by the image quality ( All shot at 4K 30FPS wide angle ). It really does look quite amazing once down loaded onto my lap top. Sound quality is also good, both internal and ( YES! now included on the LE ) external mic. It's picked up my voice very well from being attached on the front of my 14ft kayak. And did a decent job of picking up background noise too. The touch screen and interface are very easy to use and not complicated at all. The wristed strap remote worked well ( Included ) as long as you pointed it at the camera. Which is really handy because I couldn't reach it from where it was mounted. The app seems to work as well. Although I only tested that at home. Image stabilization works well on a kayak. Even on class 2 rapids! After down loading and using Clip Champ ( very easy to work out after about an hour of playing with it ) I've managed to create a very good 1st video of one of my adventures. I'm so impressed with the Brave 7 LE I will deffo be buying at least one or two more brave 7's or 8's to capture different angles of my up and coming adventures. Which will enhance video experience and content. I wanted to upgrade from my basic action camera but still didn’t feel I could justify the cost of the mainstream brand. I saw this, watched some reviews and thought it must be too good to be true for the money (but then that would have meant all of the reviews were wrong.) I decided to give it ago and see for myself and I wasn’t disappointed. Simple to use and navigate. Build quality is excellent, accessories galore and comes with two batteries and a charger. Image and video quality is fantastic compared to what I was used to and for someone who just wants to record and enjoy holiday trips and days out, this provides excellent footage. The main test will be when we go on our regular safari game drive holiday early next year and it’s mounted to our car over rough terrain - an added benefit is that I don’t need to worry about the chance of rain and putting it inside it’s case. I’m yet to try out the waterproof capacity without the case when swimming but to be honest, I’d probably use the case anyway for that added protection. A word of advice though - don’t make the mistake I made initially. I watched some footage back on the camera and was dissatisfied with the sound and video quality. Once you view/download onto your phone, tablet or computer etc, all your worries will go away. Obviously the speaker and screen on the camera can only do so much. I don’t know how Akaso have packed so much into something so small and kept the price down. Whilst those more professional than me may see the difference against top end models, 99% of people like me will just love this.

I was on the lookout for my first action camera and on doing a bit on-line research the brand Akaso cropped up, so I checked out some YouTube videos and they looked ok, I was hoping to get the Akaso 6 plus or Brave 7 but couldn't find them on Amazon so decided just to take a chance on the 7 le, I haven't actually gotten the chance to test it out and about due to contracting the C virus so have been stuck in doors. I have managed to take a couple of snaps and a short time lapse video from my bedroom window (not very exciting). The image quality looks ok and I am hoping to test it out properly when I go to the lake district in a month's time. The camera comes with an impressive amount of accessories including waterproof case, two batteries and remote control watch which seems to work well enough. The camera feels well built with an easy to use touch screen though the the compartment covers for the battery and connection ports are difficult to open but this is due to the fact it is waterproof and they need to be tight fitting. I would say this would be a good first action cam, not to expensive and comes with almost everything you need, I did purchase some extra bits a case and other attachments. So for a first action camera I would say its a good buy. Note - My firs pic showing the Akaso bundle was taken with my phone and not the Akaso 7 le.

This product is a very good alternative to a go pro. I bought this originally for to capture moments on horse back, I now bring it everywhere I go. It’s also able to capture great moments when swimming as the waterproof case is really strong and sturdy. The case takes a little while to figure it out but is completely sealed and won’t let a drop of water in. I have not taken the case off for fear of it getting wet while out and about but the camera itself is supposed to be waterproof. Came very soon after I purchased which I was super happy about. Also came with a lot of accessories which I did not expect (see attached pictures), however there was a few parts missing which was originally said on the box like a USB cable, was also supposed to come with 8 mounts which I did not receive. The battery lasts really long which is very useful when going on long trecks, it also comes with 2 battery’s so you get double the amount of time. The battery charges up really quickly and you get a little over 1 hour at 4k (longer at lower resolutions). Coming from a person who doesn’t understand a lot about different settings for different situations the default settings on the camera pretty much suffice every situation. (You can however play around with it and the AKASO website provides a lot of information) It also comes with an easy guide to set up and you can download the detailed manual if you wish. The AKASO go app was really easy to find, install and connect up to my camera. Took about 5 minutes and your able to control the camera from the app which is really useful for taking pictures or videos far away from the camera, this is useful for not having super long videos until you get set up which also saves on battery’s and editing time later. The camera also comes with a remote watch to control the whether you want to take a picture or a video. The sound on the camera is a lot better than I expected, it picks up you speaking really clearly and it doesn’t pick up the sound of the wind which I was afraid of. All in all very happy with my purchase and I would recommend as a cheaper alternative to the go pro cameras.

Camera feels well made and solid. rear touch screen is easy to use to navigate through the settings menus. My fat fingers did occasionally change settings between shot while holding (more user error, but be careful when holding and check the settings read out on screen) Dual screens is a bonus. Only the rear camera is a touch screen. Battery life so far has been about hour per battery. The rear screen turns itself off after a couple of minutes when recording and the camera can be set to power off automatically when not in use. That the camera comes with 2 batteries & a charger that will take both batteries at once is a great addition. Additionally, a power cable can be connected while in use, with a driving setting and loop recording mode means it could be used as a dash camera. (Driving mode the camera will automatically switch on and start recording when it gets power, loop mode means it will automatically split videos into 1/3/5min segments and overwrite the oldest video file on the card when the card is full.) Camera comes with a wide variety of mounts, couple of straps & waterproof case. Though it doesn't come with a hand grip or tripod. Have put in a 128Gb SD card which will hold around 5 1/2hrs at full 4K @ 30fps or around 12hrs at 1080 @ 30fps Usage wise - the picture is very good. Image stabilisation is a must. Have found while the wind reduction helps a little, the microphone still suffers from picking up a lot of wind noise, and as the camera is not compatible with an external mic, alternative methods need to be found - either fitting a foam cover over the camera, or using a separate sound recorder. The included remote on a watch strap means you can start/stop videos and take pictures without touching the camera. In addition there is an app from which you can remotely control the camera and change settings.

The first thing you'll notice is that this camera is a lot heavier than some of the other Akaso cameras. It feels robust with its body made of hard plastic and offers weather sealed joints so it can be used in the wet without issue. Both the battery compartment and the USB compartments have a rubber seal which presses into the compartment to ensure no water gets into important parts of the camera. The displays are made from plastic which will no doubt help to stop any screen breaks. The touch screen is smooth and responsive and it's navigation menu is very simple to use. The front facing screen helps to see where it's being pointed while vlogging. Next to the battery compartment there is a 1/4" metal thread for tripods. The buttons feel very strong and are made from a rubbery plastic. Image quality is quite impressive for this price point and the 4k30 is very good as is all of the other resolutions such as 2.7k and 1080p. Just note that every other resolution has a choice of 30fps or 60fps apart from 4k which is limited to 30fps. There is also 1080p120 for slow mo footage. The 20mb max photo quality is reasonable and would be more than good enough for posting on social media. You do get the ability to set custom iso, EV and light metering. Sadly, you're unable to set a custom iso in video mode, but you can set the angle for both video and photo which allows super wide/wide/medium/narrow. Image stabilization is quite impressive, but obviously not to the standards of DJi or GoPro, however you shouldn't have any major issues when cycling or jogging, in fact you'll get very good results. The audio is acceptable, however there is a bug whereby turning off all system sounds will mute audio recording. The work around is to disable all sounds apart from the bootup sound, then you'll be able to capture audio in your recording. If you like to leave system sounds on then obviously you won't need to do this work around. Overall it's a very impressive little camera and it's a nice companion to my DJi Action 2.

The quality of videos and photos are good. You can record video about 2hours with full charged battery, it is also fair to use with this price. But it doesn’t have GPS, cannot use auto low light sensor with anti shaking feature. You need to set date/time manually and not automatically sync with you mobile through apps. Do not have one button powering and video starting mode. So I may choose GoPro 8 or 9 (second hand) which you will be able to buy similar price now if someone asks me what action cam to recommend for better apps and more features. But if you want new and fair quality video and photo in the price range, it is no bad or I can say above my expectations.

It's a good product for the price it costs. Could have a better image resolution. But it's quite user-friendly

Buena cámara, calidad precio, resistente, grava bien, yo la utilizo para la bicicleta de montaña, grava bien en los descensos, pero recomiendo ponerlo a 1080P a 30, Alta, y activado la opción de vibración, salen mejor las imágenes, si lo pones a 4K necesita mucho proceso el chip para gravarlo, y a esta resolución de 1080P a 30, salen mejor las imágenes, necesita menos proceso el chip, la batería me ha durado 2 horas y 3 minutos, y aún me sobraba batería, solo utilicé una de las baterías, con dos baterías supongo que supera las 4 horas y mas, trae muchos accesorios, y dos baterías, mas que de sobra para la bici, etc., tiene dos pantallas que se agradece la frontal a la hora de hacer selfis, utilizando un palo selfi y el reloj que trae para hacer fotos y vídeos desde tu muñeca, o adaptada al palo selfi, las fotos son increíbles en resolución, pero hay que tener cuidado de no moverlas, pues me han salido fotos movidas, también en la noche no grava muy bien, ni fotos ni vídeos, habría que configurarla en las opciones para la noche, tubo fluorescente, etc., cosa que aún no he hecho, yo he comprado aparte más accesorios tipo Kit de GoPro, que suelen traer de todo por unos 20 a 40 Euros, aparte compré accesorios para el manillar o tija de dirección de la bici que se nota menos que llevas en la bici esta cámara, no me gusta llevarla en el manillar por encima, o casco. Echo de menos que no hay carcasa de goma, o metálica, para esta cámara en el mercado WEB, pero supongo que es una recientemente nueva, ya saldrán carcasas mas adelante, solo la carcasa protectora de agua que trae de accesorios la caja, la recomiendo, estoy muy contento de haberla comprado.
