The Sherlock pole locking mechanism is the only way to go
I bought this to attach to a Wooster painting cage (roller frame) with Sherlock. Most poles have a threaded end that screws into the handle of the painting cage. The problem with that design is that the roller tends to screw off while you're painting, and you have to keep tightening the cage while painting. The Sherlock just clips into the corresponding handle of the corresponding Wooster cage with corresponding Sherlock. The roller doesn't unscrew and rotate, and it's much easier to evenly apply paint with the roller. That said, this pole also comes with a threaded conversion tip as well! I was pleasantly surprised to find this out because I have a pad sander that I need to thread onto a pole. I can use this pole for both painting and sanding! Big fan.

It’s a pole, but just not for painting
What can I say. This is an extension pole for painting, & it’s constructed very well (best ever used in my 30 yrs of painting) & the clip system Wooster uses, brilliant & easy, even w/ arthritic hurting hands. The nice thing about this size....perfect for most ceilings in bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, basically any “standard room” in a “normal” house. This means if your ceilings are no taller than 8 feet. The 2-4 ft pole is “light” enough that your arms aren’t wet noodles at the end of the day, from holding & using; especially if above your head doing a ceiling etc....The other nice thing, don’t need to buy the other Wooster Sherlock GT convertible roller cages etc...AS this will WORK w/ any roller out there! There is an adapter in the handle, that will allow one to convert any “old” style roller w/ normal threaded handle....to use this pole. Awesome. Gotta say though, sometimes the adapter falls out of my handle, so be weary of this; and that’s one of two only negative I have for this. Able to do field repairs w/ the kits can buy, attach sanders, broom heads, basically anything that’s in the Sherlock GT “system”, or use the included adapter to use with this. The second negative I have...the adapters are plastic (albeit, hard “durable” plastic material); but they do break at times, or just wear out & need to use a new adapter. Nice thing, comes in set of 2 & the cost is very affordable...so, it to horrible of a thing, & rather pay less than more for an adapter that may last 10x longer than the plastic ones; but I do usually get 7-14 mos before needs a new one (yes, can recycle broken adapters). Heck, far as know, can recycle the entire pole if reals to wear impossible to repair (but than, Wooster support will most likely help you out), as it’s metal & plastic. Am I happy with this extension pole over others. Yes, the push “clip/button” system is super easy & the “click” you “feel/hear” when using is great for knowing the item (roller, sander, broom) is in place. Would I recommend for the person just using once to paint maybe a room or two every 5-10 yrs. YES, as I said before....not just a paint roller extension. It’s so much more & very useful. Even bought Xmas light adapter to put my lights up in trees, house this year. Worked great & arms weren’t tired...for this model. Great job Wooster, like this pole a lot & been using since bought my first one many many years ago (bought more b/c wanted more for others, ot b/c it broke😁). Hope this helps.

This is a game changer for sure!
Forget the old style telescoping paint sticks. This is the easiest one I have ever used. It cost more than the cheaper ones, but more than makes up for the cost when you are actually painting!

This item's awesome.
This is really a great item. I have another paint pole that I bought awhile back at a big box store where you have to screw to tighten it. I quickly learned that those aren't any fun or practical. They twist when you paint, which leave lines in the paint that you have to go over, and after awhile mine just stopped tightening well or telescoping correctly. I hate to say that I almost didn't buy this item or their roller cage, because I really hate the color green. I know it's stupid. I get it, but it is what it is. Knowing this to be true, I purchased it based on its design and am glad I did. This pole has been awesome, has stood up to use, and worked seamlessly with it's roller cage. I love to by quality pieces that will last. This is one of those pieces. If you're unsure, feel comfortable that this is will be a quality purchase. Best of luck.

Sturdy
Upon receipt of it, I thought it would not work with my paint roller since it had nothing on the end that appeared to screw into the end of my paint roller. I'll be honest, I had to set it aside to a couple of weeks because I figured I would have to return it. Then looking at it more closely, I saw that it "bolt" was inside the handle! Wow! Once that was done, Voila! It worked! Very sturdy and I've already painted the dining room ceiling - beats climbing up and down the ladder!

After 15 minutes with the Wooster Sherlock system I'll never go back to the others. Excellent build quality. Excellent value. Exceptional convenience and time savings for the typical production job. Simply push the release lever then extend or collapse to desired length with a positive lock at that increment length. No more messing around with twist style locking poles or collars. Also uses a push button snap-lock mount and release for Wooster roller frames (which are also very good quality). Highly recommended product series. After using the Sherlock system a few times I realized all others I owned or have owned were substandard by comparison. I got rid of dozens of "professional grade" extension poles, roller frames, etc. that I've had and used for years. An excellent companion for the Sherlock system, or any other for that matter, is the Wooster 4 gallon paint bucket with optional cover.

Non rotating hex shaft and quick adjust legnth. Unless throwing it away after use. This is the only type to buy for keeps.
Positive engagement extension pole is a must. Has the quick change tip and threaded quick adapter in the base. Hex shape beats any round pool brush type pole any day. Forget about locking rings that jam, break or wear out and slip. This uses holes and a spring loaded pin. Never will be an issue or can be repaired in the field. Lowes did not sell quick change with the one I purchased 4' - 8' Swapped tips no problem. It is replaceable with 2 self tapping screws. I purchased this one to swap the tip which is 3/4 of the cost of this pole alone. Tools spinning off will not be as much of an issue with this one or I will swap them back as needed.
