One of my favorite travel accessories I've purchased in the past few years. I get compliments on this thing all the time. As other reviewers note, it is very well made, sturdy, and can fit a lot of things. It has been able to fit under the seat of every flight I've been on, both domestic and international (minus when you sit bulkhead and there isn't space under the seat in front of you). Be warned, it is fairly heavy. Even when I unattach it from the wheels, it's still a pretty heavy bag. So if you cram it with a ton of heavy stuff like a bulky laptop, and don't plan to wheel it, it can be pretty heavy. When I have a lot of stuff in it I only wheel it. I try to keep it to only light papers when I'm carrying it like a shoulder bag. All the pockets and dividers inside are great, and I love how there is a rain protector (never used it) and the straps fit on the inside zipper. I was desperate for a bag like this - a nice, business appropriate bag that could transform into a shoulder bag when needed. I was so surprised to see one like this actually existed. What really sets this apart is the fact it detaches from the wheels. When it does detach, you can't tell it was supposed to have wheels like some other bags. Very sleek, clean and professional bag with lots of pockets. Perfect for the savvy business traveler!

This is the BEST briefcase I have ever purchased. I use it to carry my laptop, iPad and work files back and forth from the office to home. My office building and parking lot are a good distance apart. I was looking for something of good quality that I could use as a briefcase with wheels to easily tote my things. This is it! It is perfect. It has a fair amount of compartments to keep things organized inside. The leather is beautiful and of very good quality. I chose the "red" color hoping that it wouldn't look cheap or cheesy; it's far from that! The color is more burgundy than red. The detail in the stitching, handles and brads really add to beauty and quality of this piece. It is possible to completely detach it from the roller base so that it can be carried by the handles. It's an easy, quick adjustment to take it off of the wheel base and put it back on. The bag itself is very sturdy, with very secure handles that can hold quite a bit of weight. The cart's had a retractable handle that extends long enough to tow the bag behind comfortably. I'm 5'8" and it's the perfect length/height to reach and pull. I even have a small umbrella tucked down inside the base (outside the briefcase) and it fits just fine. I've gotten lots of compliments and inquiries from my coworkers. It's definitely a statement piece that I look forward to carrying for a long time to come. I haven't traveled on a plane with it yet, but I ordered this size and orientation with air travel in mind. The width of this briefcase should fit easily down the airplane's aisle, and will most definitely fit in the overhead bin. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Update: After several years of daily use, the rubber on the wheels began to come apart. The wheel design changed with McKlein, so I went to a local repair shop only to be told that each wheel would cost $65. Being that a new bag will cost $148, I got a new one. I'm glad to say that I like the new wheel design better AND the 'old' bag still looks like new. Since the bag can be detached from the base, I have a nice set now and continue to get compliments everywhere i take it. I've had this bag for about a month and am pleased so far. I'll start with the negatives: I will say that because the leather is shiny, it looks like plastic at times. Also, I guess I wasn't really prepared for the zippers that connect the bag to the rolling base ... they looked kinda weird to me at first. But all-in-all, I like this bag. I will say, that I was very aware of the negative reviews regarding space, so I was prepared for a super small bag. To my surprise, this was actually a little more spacious than I originally thought - again based on all the reviews. But I will say that it is NOT as roomy as some others have stated either. However, it's big enough to fit my needs. In it is my laptop, my tablet, about 30 pages of documents, my power cord, pens, a mini stapler, a retractable Ethernet cord, and my mouse. I haven't used the front pocket for anything yet ... so I can't comment on that functionality. I agree with most that this is a very stylish bag and I receive compliments on it all of the time. The wheels roll nicely and smoothly and I love the retractable handle. The vertical styling makes it fit easier on the floor of my car. And, unlike other bags I've had in the past, this one has not once tipped over. I think this is a good deal.

I ordered this bag because of the good reviews. I love the appearance and it is easy to use. It even fits (tightly) under the airplane seat. There is enough room for my large laptop and power supply along with notebooks, tablet and other accessories. However, once it is packed there is not room for anything else. This will not function as an overnight case. The handle is a good height and I like the extra storage behind the bag. I keep an umbrella there. I have not tried to convert it to a shoulder bag but it seems simple enough. The leather is a very rich red and is high quality. I recommend this bag for everyday use. I have had it for a month and use it every day. so far it is holding up very well.

A really nice Christmas present for my busy wife. Stylish, well made and practical! Delivery was also good, arrived before the stated time.

Big but in love

I purchased this 'wheeled' briefcase after a lot of consideration. It's not cheap, but I kept on coming back and viewing it. Now I've got it, I'm pleased as punch. The leather is heavy duty, not flimsy at all, and will survive the test of time. The zips and internal compartments are of high quality. I love the fact that it detaches and can be converted into a 'hand/shoulder' briefcase, by tucking the zipped areas into concealed compartments it is simply transformed and you'd never know of it's tranformation from a wheeled to shoulder case. Very clever. I thought it would be heavy, but considering how sturdy it is, it's reasonably light. admittedly I haven't used it as a shoulder case yet, just wheels and it maneourves very well. The reason I gave four stars rather than five, was the locked compartment at the very front of the case. The lock does not match the high standard of the rest of the case. It took ages to get the compartment to lock. It's fiddly. The lock, in my opinion, is annoying. If you're going to provide a locked compartment, especially, when spending this amount of money, it should at least work and remain locked until such time as you want to unlock it. The key is a give away that the mechanism is very basic. So after fiddling with the lock for a while I made the decision not to use the lock... total waste of time. It's a small irritation, but one I can live with. I was going to send it back, as I thought the lock was faulty, but thought to myself 'would I really use the lock' and the answer is no. So I packed all my paperwork and laptops into the case and it's working a treat and has rescued my poor old back. I'm a very happy customer.

It is bigger in person than in the picture on Amazon. It looks stylish and it has plenty of room. It also has a tote bag hidden at the back. All together it seems like a nice bag on wheels. Oh and it is detachable so you can use it as a regular handbag, if you wish.
