Learn to Speak Farsi in 30 Days: The Only Essential Book You Need to Start Speaking Farsi

THE best book for learning Farsi
I wanted to learn to speak and understand Farsi (Persian) but was put off by the complex writing system, which is much more than just a new alphabet, because the forms of the letters can change depending on where they are in the word. I was delighted to find this book which, as I saw from the sample pages, uses phonetic transcription throughout. As the author says, you learn the language the way a child does, speaking and understanding long before he or she learns to read or write. This book is exactly what I needed. The linguists of the U.S. Federal Service Institute have said that, for a language with a radically different writing system, it makes a lot more sense to teach it phonetically, at first. Then, when you can handle the language quite competently, it's much easier to learn how to write what you already know. But if you're faced with the complex writing system right from Day One, it can overwhelm and discourage the beginner. This book is arranged in subject categories, but it's NOT just a phrase book. I was glad to see that it includes information on the STRUCTURE, meaning how the language WORKS, so you learn how to say the negative of something, or ask a question about it, for example. These are all vital skills to acquire.I have plenty of opportunity to speak to people, in my neighbourhood, and I'm unlikely to need to read or write anything -- so this book was PERFECT for my needs.

This is Iranian Farsi only
There a HUGE difference in Iranian Farsi and Farsi from other Countries. This book is ONLY for Iranian learning. So you WILL NOT learn Farsi in 30 days. Maybe, a year when you speak to other Farsi speakers and retranslate what’s in this book. Also, learn French. It’ll help.

Excellent book
This books has been an excellent tool as part of my approach to learning Farsi, which also includes Mobil apps and lessons with relatives. The conversational scenarios prove interesting even after many repetitions.
