Lake: His Life, His Sermons, His Boldness of Faith Review: Amazing examples of God's power flowing through a consecrated life - There are only a few books in print on Lake's sermons, most of them compiled by Roberts Liardon, including the massive (almost 1,000 page) John G Lake: Complete Collection Of His Teaching. Before purchasing, I perused the available information on the books and this book published by Kenneth Copeland Publications is the only one that seemed to have a reasonable sized biography of the man. It also had 546 pages of his sermons and writings, which is ample material to get to know what he believed and taught. These two things helped me decide on this book. Without a biography, one has no timeline or overview of Lake's life and has little idea of what happened in his life and what was accomplished. The book contains an 18 page authorized biography of Lake as well as a 6 page letter written by Lake late in his life (then living in America) to a church leader in South Africa, in which he reminisces on past events and gives a glimpse of his passion for God's presence and power. The book has 44 chapters, most of them consisting of Lake's sermons. But some appear to be Lake's thoughts on a subject or descriptions of events, including remarkable healings. In his sermons, he sometimes describes events in his life, which give us additional biographical information as well as illustrating the point he was making. The book also has a series of articles by him, photographs of him in different settings with captions, and other extras. I think the selections were thoughtfully made and the compilation is good. I am very pleased with the book. This book will be loved by all who want to know what God is willing to accomplish through a consecrated life that believes in His willingness to heal and to deliver from evil. It can be an eye opener to those who are open to consider the things of God. Review: ... of the Bible > this is one of the best books a person could read > regarding God and ... - Outside of the Bible > this is one of the best books a person could read > regarding God and the things of God. John G Lake lived his life just about as close to the Way Jesus lived more then any human being I have known or read about. Doctor Lake Loved the Lord, he was a Holy Man, A man of great faith, forever a student of the Bible also a man of serious prayer, holiness and faith. He was dedicated to living for God and God worked through Lakes life in very powerful ways. If I had to be stranded somewhere for the rest of my life... and somebody said to me > you can only bring 2 books with you that you can have for the rest of your life. I would take A Holy Bible and this book. I even had supernatural encounters with the Holy Spirit while reading this and meditating on God and how powerfully God worked in and through the life of John G Lake.

Powerful
A very inspiring and enlightening book. It has been written long ago and the language may be hard to understand for modern speakers of English but I often read Old English and really can understand it and I can't seem to put it down. It is loaded with the love and power of the living God.

A TRUE MAN OF GOD
Outstanding book. I have purchased many of these for friends and family. One of Gloria Copeland's best. I Highly recommend this to anyone needing to understand that God is still a faithful God that heals his people, A Must read guide to a man who demonstrated the power of God in Africa and the US. He once issued an ad in the Seattle Times stating that if anyone came to his Healing Rooms and was not healed with in 30 days, no matter what the disease, he would pay them $5,000, in today's money. He never had to write a check. It was also documented by the government that Seattle, during his reign, was the healthiest city in he nation.

Best Book I Ever Read After the Bible
This is a LIFE CHANGING book! I learned more from this book about faith and relationship with the Lord and dwelling in the Spirit than all the Christian books I have read put together. After reading some of the concepts I had to stop for some time and dwell on the truth that was presented...Man the Habitation of God, for instance. Each chapter contains more wonderful knowledge than you can get from an entire book of watered down info today. It's packed with powerful stories of miracles in John G. Lake's life and the people he encountered. Even if it is a concept you already know, here is a man who put the concept into practice with great faith...so many people saved and healed...

John G Lake had THE MOST powerful healing ministry outside of Jesus on the earth, hands down. No one else is anywhere close. Not even Oral Roberts. Yes, in his zeal he made some mistakes while in Africa, but I would suggest to you, many of the people who find this a deal breaker in coming to terms with Johns ministry, in your judgment of him, this same level of mercy is what you'll have your own mistakes dealt with, so be extremely careful, my advice to you is from my friend James- 2:13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. Let God deal with Johns shortcomings, we have one judge, His name is Jesus, we have no need of another judge, the job is filled. What we need is lovers, we need people to bring the Gospel to massively broken & lost people. We have need for many candidates to fill these positions in the church, apply now, operators are standing by. How many men established 1200 churches anywhere in 10 years? How many people have had a healing ministry that has touched in a major way, 100's of thousands, who knows, probably millions, over the decades it was in the earth? People that if God didn't move, by sundown, they would be dead. How about you pray for them? That's the short list. You would do well to have faith like John G Lake. And have that zeal for the work of the ministry. This is what is missing in the American church, you would be a freak of faith to have this today. Get this book, it will stoke your fire for living a John 14:12 life, if you believe, if you don't, just stay lukewarm. The best book on healing hands down.

This book has near its beginning a biography of Mr Lake's life which mainly revolves around his quest for divine healing to be restored to the church as a result of illness and death which plagued his birth family. A number of his siblings died in childhood or youth. A couple of others suffered life threatening conditions as adults but by this time Mr Lake was beginning to discover that divine healing is indeed God's will for the present time (his time being late 19th and early 20th centuries). Two sisters were miraculously healed and a little later his own wife was also healed of a condition which in those days would certainly have otherwise ended in her death. Later his calling as an apostle and stories of miracles, salvation of great numbers of people and his planting of churches in South Africa. There are recorded numerous of his sermons (apparently his second wife [his first wife did die from a different cause some years later] was an excellent shorthand writer) which among other things clearly set out the biblical grounds for it being God's will to heal all who ask of Him, that it's His will to heal them in the present and that it is never not God's will to heal. Finally, it sheds interesting light on the early Pentecostal movement in early 20th century which has now also benefited many Christians in the older more "traditional" Christian groups per the "charismatic movement."
