So much better than cheap paints! Love it!
I tried this watercolor paint out last week and it was so easy to use. I quickly did a small painting and was very satisfied by the quality of paint, the brush was actually nice...I would recommend. I painted a Xenomorph for my son's birthday card. Payne's gray, blues, browns, ochre, white. I was able to get a wide range of lights and darks--lots of depth and small detail.

These paints set up your professionalism
I have many brands of top quality paint but these are always my first choice. They move well on the paper, they lift and blend and they respond well to various external aids such as salt or blooming with water. They mix well and they are deep and intense. Just a lightly wet brush pulls up a lot of pigment. I have tried other brands but these just seem to give me better results without the frustration. I also love that they come with tubes of Payne's gray and Chinese white. I am not a purist and there are times that a good white can make a painting pop. Paynes gray is typically one of the first pans that I will use up so having a tube in the set is ideal. The brush was also of a good quality and I feel comfortable using only that one when I travel with this set.

Student Grade-are you kidding!
These paints are wonderful! I cannot believe they are student grade. The colors are vibrant and beautiful. They active very easily and are a dream to use. I have the professional version of these paints also, Rembrandt, and I cannot tell the difference. Both are awesome!

Lovely vivid watercolour set
These Van Gogh watercolour paints are a very intense, vivid product. If you want a real vibrant color in your watercolour art, then these colors are sure to please. Overall we are happy with the purchase and the quality of this paint set.

Very nice paints for hobbyist and student.
They behave more like the expensive watercolors than other sets such as Sakura Koi and behave differently if you just want to play more with your art style.Colors are very nice and I enjoy the effects they create. Interesting transparency mixed with opacity. My local art shop would have refills for these if I liked them and was going through certain colors. The travel case is not very portable because the pans do not stay put. Others have used tack to set them in the box- but that may make replacement of the pans difficult later. Even if not flipped upside down the pans can fall out of the pan.Otherwise I'm very happy with these paints they are an interesting change from the Sakura Koi colors I was using for years.

a great watercolor set for students
Van Gogh is much easier to master than Winsor Newton CotmanIt is extremely easy to get the color on your brush and the color is "denser" than other brands, which means a half pan will last much longer, save your money, highly recommanded for students

Paint grew mold - company replaced it
I purchased this product on the recommendation of my sister who has had a Van Gogh set for two years with no problems. Unfortunately for me, the paints I purchased in September have grown mold in several of the colors. I am quite worried that everything I've painted in the last six months will start growing mold. If this happens I am out hundreds of hours of work as well as faced with replacing everything I've painted for other people.Follow Up (3/30/17)I contacted the company and they sent me a new palette. I am very pleased with their customer service and am changing my review from one star to three to reflect this. I can't make it higher with the fear that the things I already painted may grow mold. I am also adding a picture of the new non-moldy palette.
