Kid bike? Not so much.
First of all, the quality of this brake set is good for the price. I was trying to install it on my kid’s 16” coaster brake bike and it seems like a perfect set.Installation was easy but I need to shave the outer edge off the rear brake pads as the reach was a little bit short. Moreover, the rear cable was too long for a kid’s bike. However, the biggest shortcoming is that it requires quite a lot of strength to squeeze the brakes it is tiring even for an adult. I need to apply more than 10 lbs of force to stop a wheel. After installing it and seeing it fit perfectly on my son’s bike, I just can’t imagine how a 4 years old kid can squeeze the brakes. After all the effort to set it up, it is mostly for decoration now.

Great product for the price.
Easy installation. More than enough brake cable for a 26" Beach Cruiser. Only issue , the rear brake, had to flip the side calipers to make the brake pads reach the rim. The brake pads aren't the best, but roughing the pads with sandpaper, helped with stopping...will replace soon with better ones. Overall, I am happy with the brake set, just couldn't get use to the coaster brake that came on the bike. Great upgrade.

Overall a good replacement part
This is good product and give it five of five as long has you have proper expectations. For me I was replacing terrible stock breaks on kids bike, plastic levers and cheap pot metal parts for calipers. These are full metal levers and calipers and don't deform like the stock ones I replaced, they feel solid and tight. The bike went from stopping like a freight train to being able to leave skid marks on the pavement. Overall I would recommend and would get them again if I had a similar situation. One thing I would note is the pads are not great but definitely fine. I had a set of good pads I put on instead which gave more stopping power. For those that may not know, the metal gromit on the cable housing will pull off so u can resize the length to fit your bike, then press gromit back on and ur good.

Very Satisfied.
What I like about brake calipers is that they are cheap, easy to install and maintain, very durable over decades, can be problematic in a light drizzle when you expect to stop like right now. Disc brake supposed advantage is better modulation and consistent stopping power in varying weather conditions but can also be noisy, more expensive to replace a damaged rotor, harder to adjust and maintain, heavier and more complex. I've had a rear bicycle wheel ruined when I applied the brakes in the rain due to instant lock-up. Spokes were ripped out of the hub. Hope this problem has been resolved since I used disc brakes back then. This kit contains a pair of levers, cables and calipers for long-reach applications with a low price. Installation to a BMX bicycle was quick, no problems encountered. Included pads are of a hard(er-ish) rubber compound but silent when used on this rim, were easy to align, was careful not to over-torque the screw caps. Caliper mounts seem sturdy enough, don't bind when they aren't supposed to, mounting screw doesn't back off the post when loose due to Teflon insert. Levers are relatively lightweight, simple and functional, not over-complicated, in fact better than some singularly purchased and higher priced levers I've used in the past. Cables were thicker (=better) than expected, housings look like standard issue reliable in black. All parts accounted for, were thrown in a bubble-wrap bag, boxed and shipped. Saw no evidence of damage.Would definitely buy again if/when a project calls for this assortment.Very satisfied with this purchase.

Pretty decent brakes actually!
Not bad little brakes! Seem very solid, the hand levers are pretty nice, plenty of adjustment, the cables are good too. For the price, which seemed pretty high at first, I can say, the quality is fair (Anybody who shops much on Amazon knows that you often get disappointing sight-unseen junk)The pads are, as many have pointed out, junk, but the bike is so small that I can't imagine she'll need much stopping power, plus it's got the coaster brakes too.

Great Brakes
My son's 2 year old Mongoose BMX no longer had functioning brakes. The bike came with a rotor and that was part of the problem. I removed all of the old brake hardware and started from scratch. These are really well built and the installation was simple. Much better stopping power than the old ones.

Nice set of Brakes
I ordered this set of brakes for my daughter's beach cruiser type bike. She was having difficulty stopping with the coaster brakes. I remember going through tons of tires from sliding skids as a child. She just can't stomp on it like we used to. It took about 30 minutes to install. The rear cable was little long but not really a problem. Everything needed was included. The caliper arms are a little short for a beach cruiser. Her bike has fenders so there appears to be a little more clearance between the mount location and the wheel. Because of this I had to mount the rear brake on the underside of the bracket rather than on top (on top the pads miss the rim altogether). For both front and rear I had to slide the brake pads all the way out to the end of he caliper. The only thing I overlooked was that you have to remove the grips in order to slide the brake levers onto the bars. Had I realized this I would have ordered grips and cut the old ones off. I do not remember grips being so difficult to slide off. In the end everything worked. She is very happy and confident with hand brakes.

Safety FIRST! They WORK!
If you know what you are doing these get the job done. Added brake protection on my son's bike which had a cheap front disc brake that was very light bringing the bike to a stop.I removed the disc brake and installed this and so the bike now has more stopping power. I also installed one on my daughter little kid bike that only had back pedal breaking she is not yet use too and it works great. She is slowing down now at a safe pace.
