Very Necessary and Fairly Easy to Install
I have four can flood lights in the soffit of my house. All four were infested with wasp or hornet nests. While searching online for a solution to this problem, I found this product. I've since installed four of these, so I wanted to add a few comments. Unless you're installing when the temperature is below 40 F, you should use some wasp or hornet spray a day or two before installing. If you don't spray, you're probably going to be attacked before you even take out the bulb. If you do spray, you will want to avoid inhaling the poison that kills the insects, so don't rush the project. Remove the bulb, which probably is going to be too long to reuse with this product. The manufacturer offers a spacer ring, but I bought some new LED flood lights that were at least an inch shorter than the old incandescent flood lights. The shorter length allows the bulb not to touch the new cover, and the low heat LEDs further minimizes the risk of heat damage to the new polycarbonate cover. The cans usually are held in place by two spring mounts, which need to be undone to remove the cylinder. The part where you screw in the bulb will still be there. Take a broom handle or a cloth and knock out the nests. Next, install the new bulb. The mounting ring is secured by three screws. Be careful to center this as well as you can. The polycarbonate screen often comes loose during shipping and needs to be snapped back into the trim ring. The trim ring must be aligned with the mounting ring and then twisted an inch into the sealed position. The alignment of the three connectors is the hardest part of the process, but not excessively difficult. The result is a pristine, flush-mounted white ring with no visible screw holes. The polycarbonate screen allows air (and perhaps a mosquito to enter), but no wasps or birds. When it is time to change the bulb, you can twist the trim ring counter-clockwise. As I was installing these, I was noticing that this really could have been manufactured as one piece, although this would have had three visible screw holes. If the screws were the same color as the trim ring, it would not have been noticeable, but it would have made installation a bit easier.

A well thought out quality product
The inventor of this product did build a better mouse trap. Installation was easy, about 5 minutes per light. The plastic pieces fit very snuggly together. I used some Q-tips and silicone spray to apply to the plastic parts that slide on one another. Don't spray the whole thing, just dip the Q-tip into a small puddle of silicone spray and apply with the Q-tip. Took a little time but made final assembly very easy. The final installed product looks like original equipment and the plastic screen really doesn't cut down on the light output. Would buy again!

Very helpful, responsive seller and excellent product
Got these to cover outdoor recessed patio lights that have chronic hornet nest issues in them making it unpleasant to sit out on the patio. Our bulbs stick out a bit from the fixtures so contacted the seller who promptly sent us spacers and longer screws. We wound using the spacers with attached rings plus the original ring that came with them so bulbs didn't touch. Bought 8 x 1.5" screws to install this modification. Install was easy and straight forward and these should solve our wasp issue. Before and after pics above. Great product and excellent seller!!!

Easy to install and work as advertised
Painted and installed these over my outdoor can lights to keep wasps from making a home. They look great and are easy to install. Would have given 5 stars had they been a bit more reasonably priced. But they were exactly what I needed and function perfectly.

AMAZING!
We have an overhang on our porch with recessed lighting, and have always had a terrible hornet problem. They fly up into the lights and make nests and it was impossible to sit there and enjoy our porch because they were always falling on you or swooping aggressively. I bought these to try and I can say I have not even seen ONE hornet. NOT ONE! these were super simple to install and work like a charm. Worth EVERY PENNY!!!!

Easy to install and looks great
I had an old and rusty metal cover over a light in my homeโs roof soffit. I removed the old cover and this plastic cover fit the space perfectly. It was easy to install and looks great.

Hopefully no more wasps
Last year I replaced the bulbs in my external recessed lighting fixtures with external LED bulbs. That means there was little heat to discourage the wasps from crawling past the bulbs to get into my house attic area. I purchased four of these light covers to install over the exterior recessed lighting to keep the wasps out. Two sets of two. On three of the four sets, the screen part was correctly installed in the trim plate. The screen was loose for the fourth set. It took a lot of force and a few minutes to install it. The trim plate fits into the mounting ring and is then turned to lock into place. None of the four seemed to lock into place. In fact, I could not even turn three of the four to the end of the mounting slot. I worry that the trim ring and the screen may come loose and fall to the ground. So far, they have stayed in place for two days and one thunderstorm. I will update this review if they ever do come loose. My house has permanent siding and sheet metal soffit (or overhang) vents with lanced holes in every other section. To install the mounting ring around the recessed lighting fixture I had to drill three 7/64 inch holes into the sheet metal. I then used the provided screws with my screwdriver to secure the mounting ring. I used masking tape to hold the mounting ring in place while drilling the holes. If you look at the picture you will see that the sheet metal soffit has a U area that goes under the trim plate and screen assembly. I worry that the U is large enough to allow an insect (or wasp) to still get to the bulb. My hope is that the screen comes into contact with the existing trim and prevents that. I can say that last night when I inspected these after the light had been on for about an hour that a bug had gotten past the screen. It could have been trapped in the attic when I installed these two days ago, or it could have been small enough to get through the screen. The bug was not there when I looked this morning. 09/08/2016 Update: It has been a few months since I installed these. I have had to clean the light cover next to my front door to remove wasps twice now. I am sure that the wasps were coming from inside the house. (There have been no bugs in the last two months.) All screens have stayed in place. In fact the one next to the front door now locks in place when it did not at first. I have only had to clean the one cover so do not know if the others would lock into place or not. Based on how things are going I have decided to increase this from 4 to 5 stars.

Might not fit like you expect
I'm a pest control professional in BC, I was looking to try a new product to provide a cover over an exterior light above a customer's front porch where brown bats were periodically nesting in the light housing. Cut to the chase: I got the product to work (finally) but in the end the customer had to buy a special low-profile LED replacement bulb because this cover has almost no depth to it, and sits completely flush with it's mounting ring. There's probably 3mm or so from the back of the mounting bracket, which would attach to the ceiling, to the back of the plastic grill, which mounts over the bulb and housing. So if your light bulb or beauty ring on the light house protrudes from the ceiling at all, it's going to hit the plastic cover. It's a great product for lights or holes that are perfectly flush, or don't stick out past the face of the ceiling, but for a "normal" light it's a headache to get this cover to fit properly without a special bracket - which the seller can apparently provide, per a message inside the box.
