I love the quality and convenience of the glass Clever Dripper, and the addition of the larger #6 filters improve the flavor and option for larger volume even more. The Melitta filters are very sturdy, and I use my fingers to push the filter down into the base of the cone, around the two flexible black projections that stick up from the base. This fills the space between the glass and the filter, so there is less area for plain hot water without coffee grounds to dilute the result. Ater adding hot water and coffee grounds, I stir it in, then add more hot water to the upper rim of the glass. This produces 16 ounces of rich, full-flavored coffee in one batch. It shortens the prep time for our two cups of barista-quality joe each morning.

My family has been using Clever Coffee Drippers for years and years. It makes *great* coffee with the ease of a drip cone but you can custom brew like a French Press without getting any of the gritty sludge of the French Press. Pristine coffee in 3 or 5 or 7 minutes to your taste! In the past, with the original plastic design, we got occasional broken legs that made it hard to keep the CCD level during brewing. And, inevitably, they stained. That didn't affect the flavor at all, but it really *did* have a negative effect on the appearance. This new glass design is great! The cone is very strong & durable and the base is now flat 360˚ around and can't break and tip to one side. The glass won't stain and that's a *major* improvement. The sole issue with this design in the round handle. When you lift the CCD to put the cone on your cup and release your brew you need a secure hold. The handle is strong enough but the round shape means that if your hand isn't dry it slips because all the weight is on one side. I hope they'll address this in their next edition but I consider it minor in comparison with how we've loved this brew system for so many years.

I absolutely love my Clever glass dripper coffee maker! A friend of mine has a $150-250 Gina by Goat Story, and I loved how that one had a control valve. This was the best unit I could find with a valve and I actually think I like it better than my friends pricey unit. I bought a caraffe to go with my Clever, and with fresh roasted coffee, a scale for precise measurements, and a good kettle...I am getting excellent results. I notice the coffee comes out a bit more bitter than my french press at the same grind size and measurement, so after the immersion and flow, I add a bit more water to compensate just with a pour over method. This has worked perfectly. The coffee isn't quite as full bodied as my french press, but the flavor is on point, and the coffee is much cleaner. One word of advice I got off a YouTube barista...put your water in first and then your coffee---the time for your drip down after is 3x as fast with no loss in flavor or texture. I've also added grounds and immediately made a second batch pour over style and it was still very tasty! (Not as strong, but my mother doesn't like hers as strong as mine.). I'm very happy with this coffee maker!

I love the simplicity of a pour over coffee maker and wanted something that would 1) allow me to use a filter for easy cleaning, 2) allow the water to sit in the holder with the grounds for the desired amount of time for strength, 3) have a lid on the top to keep the water hot, 4) be large enough to hold approx 11 oz of coffee, and 5) has a handle. This product checks all those boxes. And most important, it makes GREAT coffee! Cons: 1) I don’t love that the lid is plastic. I don’t think it helps to keep the brewing coffee as hot as it could be. 2) The large cups that I love to use every day are too big for the dripper to seat properly, so the dripper sits a bit awkwardly on the cup. I realize this is my issue but still worth mentioning, 3) I wish there were measurement lines on the dripper so you could tell how much water you are pouring in. 4) it’s not very pretty to look at. Again, that’s my issue, but so many coffee making devices are stylish. This one could use a little updating.

I have a V60, Chemex, Aeropress, Espresso Machine, and French Press. This is by far the best coffee brewer I've used. I love drip coffee and the immersion process made sense. So I tried to create it by brewing in a glass caraffe, then pouring through a V60 cone. This helped, but it caused the coffee to get cold, and the drip through on the V60 was incredibly slow - it seemed that the fines from grinding were clogging up the pores in a way that doesn't happen when I brew directly in a V60. But I was noticing more flavors. So I bought the Clever Dripper, and besides being even easier than V60 and Chemex, the flavors are brighter, stronger, without any increase in bitterness. With this immersion style, there isn't the same dependence on grind size and brew time. Grind size only impacts amount of extraction (with finer grinds, surface area increases and extraction increases) - so it's much easier to dial in the brewing process. Minor side benefit: it takes a very common paper filter.

This unit is really ingenious. It's so simple and obvious, makes you wonder why it took so long to invent it. Just pour your hot water over the grounds, and when it's ready set it on the cup and it automatically discharges the brew. Compared to the French press, clean up is much faster. Pull the paper filter out, dump it, then rinse the unit and your done. With the French press you need to take apart the filter and rinse each part, wash the used grounds out of the unit which can be messy. Both make good coffee, but the Clever is much faster and well worth the paper filters you use.

I really enjoy the design of the glass dripper. It has a bit more weight to it, less of a rattly feel, and the specs on the bottom design is different enough to need less vertical movement for triggering the plunger. It also fits on a cup the plastic clever dripper wouldn’t fit on: my Keith brand titanium 600ml mug. I don’t have a measuring tape nearby so I can’t measure the diameter, however it’s the same diameter as the Snow Peak brand titanium 600ml mug. The glass doesn’t feel fragile at all, it slipped out of my hand while cleaning and tapped right against a metal container without any issues, and I consider that a wow. It also washed without any problems. The empty was smooth and only took about 20-30 seconds to empty out a completely full container through the plunger. I do think this looks much nicer than the plastic one, as well.not that it matters since I’m the only one who sees it but oh well ;)

I've used the BPA plastic version of the Clever for years, it is my goto and favorite method of coffee making. Wanted to try the pricey glass version. The gap between the paper filter and the glass walls and bottom of the filter is odd indeed. The bottom of the number 4 Melitta style paper filter (edges folded) rests on silicone "lips" There and to bottom sides there is a significant area where filter doesn't meet up with the brewer, and may dilute the brew, I know it does if you use a water first, grinds on top method (my proffered method). may not hinder the brew as much on grinds below method. Still it's odd.. Other than that its quite elegant in a 90s clear Imac-ky kind of way. Don't love the round handle. Why this gap? why the labia. I am under the impression that the original version will make better coffee at less than 1/2 the price, this does have a wow factor and Its nice to watch the brew go through, If it weren't for this inexplicable void I'd give it a 9 out of 10. perhaps it has a purpose, faster draw down times? To avoid clogging? Would like an explanation. I may modify it, return it or gift it. Hmmmm.

I always loved the Clever coffee dripper as it allows you to control the brewing time and immersion perfectly. The glas version is even better as more stylish, better to clean and just cleaner taste (though the latter may just be my subjective feel). I can't follow other reviews issues with the filter clinging to the glass too much as I can easily lift the used filter out of the glas without any spillage and the cleaning is super easy just hold it under running water, the glass dries easily without any residue which I could not say for the plastic version. Nonetheless, the price is steep for the glass version but I noticed that even the plastic version has increased in price.
