Awesome amp in a small package...
I just recently installed this amp in a 2012 Ford F150 FX4 with Sync, and no sony/nav unit.I used the speaker level inputs. No "trigger" or turn-on wire is required when using the speaker level inputs. The amp senses an input signal, and automatically powers up, then powers down when the signal is removed (by shutting down the head unit). Just tapped into the speaker wire in the channel under the door sill cover, and routed the wiring to the back of the rear seat where the amp is mounted. Super easy. I swapped out the factory Chinese paper cone speakers in all 4 doors with Infinity Kappa 6X8's which are specified at 2 ohm load each, so this amp is used as a true 4-channel setup. No bridging. I guess I didn't need to go with so much power... half volume and my ears feel like they want to start bleeding. Sound quality is remarkable. The high power allows for plenty of headroom, and it doesn't lack at all. Tight bass, airy, whispery highs, just what I wanted, and it runs as cool as the other side of the pillow. I'd buy this amp again in a heartbeat. Nice screw terminals for wiring, even has a set of RCA outs for daisy-chaining another to amp, which will be very handy when it comes time for a sub under the rear seat. I'm seriously thinking of another amp identical to this, and bridging the 4 channels to 2 for a stereo sub setup. Love this amp.

This amplifier is underrated and rocks!
I have been running this amplifier to infinity ref 6x9s in the front doors of my 2014 Silverado and a Kicker CompR 43CWR122 12" Dual 2-ohm wired up as 4 ohm using the rear channels bridged under the backseat. I love my music loud and regularly play it there! I have had no issues with this amplifier for a year now and it just keeps on cranking! I don't know if quality control was a problem due to the bad reviews but I cannot give anything but praise for this amp. Presumably some people had shorting wiring issues causing dropped channels (people regularly mess this simple stuff up). Be careful with your wiring and you shouldn't have any problems. I just bought a second GM-8604 to put in my boat this summer and I can't wait to rock the lake with it!! Check out some youtube videos of this amp getting tested on an amp dyno, this amp was putting out 550 watts x 2 at 2 ohms bridged!! severely underrated by the manufacturer, but i cannot speak to the durability at these levels. This is actually stable at 1 ohm per channel (thus 2 ohms bridged) which provides the utmost versatility for your audio desires. I suspect i will be purchasing at least one more of these for my other car in the future.

Pioneer GM-D8604 4 channel amplifier
As many reviewers have said, the first one I received blew one of the speaker outputs almost emedietly. Amazon was great and sent me a replacement the next day. Some say that part of the music definition is lost with this amp. I haven't noticed that myself. It seems to be a clean sounding amp. It pushes the 6.5 inch Alpine components in the doors nicely as well as the Pioneer 6 x 9 inch 3 way speakers in the rear deck. On a side note, the amp matches the weave of my carbon fiber hood. Not that anybody can see it. This is the first time I've had digital amplifiers, I also have a Rockford Fosgate 300 watt rms powered, enclosed subwoofer that provides plenty of bass without the thumping- I'm in my forties, a little old to be punking myself like that. It's amplifier is also digital. I'm not sure how long this technology has been around but it seems like they've worked most of the bugs out. For a 4 channel amp that only cost me $135, I can't complain. The only thing I wasn't crazy about were the way one has to connect the speaker wires. You connect them the same way you connect the power and ground wires. You have to crimp them down with a blunt ended skrew. This would be ok if you were using 10 gauge speaker wire. I prefer the screw down clamp type connections that most amps have.

You can buy love!
My amp came right on time. I was using an Alpine FR-300 4 channel in my truck to push my 2 Kenwood 6.5 3 way speakers and my 12" Pioneer subwoofer. I built the box myself to go behind my seat of my 83 Chevy Silverado. My 300 was a beast in itself but I was hardly bringing my sound anywhere close to its full potential. I'm one to read reviews and base my decisions off of others experiences with products since we are all using the equipment and not trying to sell it.The Pioneer amp is love in a box. I just simply swapped out the amps and secured it to the floor of my truck under the seat. I have everything less then half way for high pass and low pass on the amp as well as my head unit. The clarity is outstanding with absolutely no distortion or hint of straining from my sub or 6.5's. I do understand this is a 1200w max amp and I'm only running a 3 way system but I drown out anybody who has a system around me. The best part is when they realize its coming from a single cab P/U hhaha. I have always been a firm believer in quality products, and for the price off under 170 with shipping is a honest come up. I am more than satisfied with this piece of equipment and would recommend to anyone looking to gain power while keeping your expense low. Also this amp is very compact and connections to the amp are an upgrade from the older model amps where you use the two prongs fork then tighten the screw down. I hope this helped some people if they were still unsure.

It worked great out of the box
I don't usually take the time to review products, but I had to in this case to WARN people to stay away from this amp. I figured it had 4/5 stars and only some people were having issues so I decided to give it a shot. It worked great out of the box, but then after a week of normal use the front right channel stopped working. I could hear a low audible buzz coming from that speaker. I checked all my connections and connected an extra speaker I had lying around directly to that channel with a short piece of speaker wire to rule out any grounding out of the installed car speaker wires. No luck, same results. I wish it worked because the price point is great. But for all the trouble I've gone through on a one week old amp, I should have just spent a few bucks more for something more reliable.
