I use these at work and decided id order a set for myself. When they got delivered, all the sticks are broken. I can still use them, i just dont have full sticks as refills. Now i have 3" sticks as refills. 😂

The holders are cheap and don’t hold much tension. The soapstone pushes back into holders and is a pain. But the soapstone is the main reason I bout them and that part is great. I would recommend these if you’re in the market.

I've been teaching myself how it Weld and neither helping I can actually see my marks.

Just like a wooden pencil, soapstone marks work well for specific purposes. I like them for marking steel for cutting and welding. While the processes are inherently messy, these holders limit cross contamination and keep the soapstone clean and protected. Soapstone is soft and easy to break, these holders help a lot.

It's a cheap alloy holder and when tightened all the way down if you press down hard enough the soapstone will retract into the holder. The soapstone itself also seems inferior.
