Hard Wood is Great
These work really great. The house I just bought is about 25 years old & needed shims in the crawl space. It took a while to find hard wood which is much better than pine or other types of soft woods.

Hardwood Shims 4" x 9" x 1" - 30 Pack. For shimming pier block foundations on manufactured homes.
Really hard to find anything else comparable online. These would be difficult to make yourself. My concern is that they don't seem fully dried, and so may shrink and become loose over time. But they were hugely valuable in leveling/shimming up our manufactured home.
