Very good helmet
This helmet was a bit tight at first (this is actually a correct 'sizing' to my head) - but it has loosened a little from on / off cycles and simply wearing and sweating in it (I know..... GROSS right!?).I like the visor feature in case I am riding into the setting sun. As far as head-whip (visor acting as a 'sail' at higher speeds) - I have not experienced this. There is a little 'grabbing' of air that the visor does at 50 mph but it is minimal thanks to the louvers in the bill. The cooling effect (air flow over my dome) at speed in our hot Arizona summer days is minimal. It is better than nothing, but you are still pretty hot. The wind screen is easy to operate while riding. The multi-position ratchet keeps things where you want them to be. I sure appreciated having the screen over my face when a big juicy bug hit me at approx. 50 mph. Without it - I probably would have a mark on my face, or maybe have crashed.

I love it
I took a big chance buying this online because none of the dealers around me carry Shoei where I could try one on. I opened the box very carefully just in case I had to send it back, but it definitely will not be going back. According to the size chart I should have bought a large, but I own several helmets and I've always taken a XL, and sometimes those are even a little tight, so I ordered the XL and it fits snug but it's very comfortable. I did have to get the thinner cheek pieces from the Shoei website, but I have kind of a fat face so I anticipated that. Summer isn't far away and I can't wait to use it

I’m a Shoei fanboy but..
I ride a DR650 on & off road and looking for a non-polycarbonate adventure style helmet with beak visor. I tried both the Shoei Hornet X2 and the Arai XD4 and the Arai just fit my head better. Both the Shoei & Arai are great helmets but I have to say I expected more from a $700 helmet.Wind Noise: Both were louder than expected but neither had that awful high pitched polycarbonate sound, the fiberglass on both muffled the wind slightly and produced a much more pleasant tone, Arai was slightly better on my setup.Shields: The Shoei is optically correct but fogs up quickly when shut completely (at full stop) but holds open at 1st click to vent at stops. The Arai comes to more of a point so it is not optically correct at the nose but becomes optically correct when looking through the main portion, only an issue if you are venting on the 1st click when stopped.Beaks: Shoei buffets, Arai better.Ventilation: Both ok but both could be better. Shoei wins because you can leave the face shield cracked open to the 1st position without distortion. After trying both I bought neither, I really like the internal shade visor feature available on other helmets and leaning toward modular helmets so I can leave my eyeglasses on when putting the helmet on or taking it off. There are only a few fiberglass modular adventure helmets on the market but if I’m going to spend $700 bucks I want a few bells & whistles..

Best brand helmet
This is my 3rd shoei over the years and i love them. i will always buy them. Only gripe is i wish it would come with the auto tinting visor especially for what they cost.

Smaller than the Neotec
Nice helmet, but the 2XL was still too small.

Virtually silent
What an excellent helmet. You get what you pay for. Basically no wind noise at all, even at higher speeds. Visor is clear but there’s plenty of room for sunglasses (I wear aviators). Lens anti-fogging kit is included and works very well. Good airflow for hot weather and still warm in the winter when you close up the vents.

Broken vent
When my helmet came in the front vent was completely broken and unusable.

Just buy it
After a ton of research and reading reviews I finally ordered this helmet. I am coming from a scorpion 950 adv helmet and this is everything I was hoping for. I trusted the measurements listed and it worked out for me. Once the helmet is on I can just slightly move it to adjust for glasses and strapped it. I tested it out first thing on the highway and noticed right away that wind sound was cut down dramatically and buffeting was almost gone. I tried it first with all vents closed then opened them one by one to feel the difference. Once the shield was down and all vents open I could actually feel the air flowing. The helmet is much nicer in person compared to pictures. It took a little playing to figure out what direction everything had to be in for the vents to be open and closed. People really took notice to it as well. For some reason people started looking and waving at me. I think the bright white is much more noticeable. I don’t have a lot of experience with different models but if you are considering this one just do it. It was a huge upgrade for me.
