Bought a cheap one and it was much larger and sounded like an airplane flying in my ear. This one is an update to an older one I had for a decade... its small, ergonomical, and quiet when trimming ear hair.

Great trimmer. Works very well and doesn't catch and yank hair like the last brand did. Really like the ease in cleaning it.

As Wintable mentioned, banging it on the countertop helped his start. Mine quit after 2 years so I tried hitting it on the countertop. After progressively harder hits, it started running again. I don't know how long it will last but it's worth a try.Another suggestion if you use it only every few weeks or less is to remove the battery. Sometimes the battery will leak and that ruined my previous trimmer.

Excellent design, smooth and quiet operation, cuts nose hair closely and painlessly. Used for ear hair too with great results. Very sharp blades cut without pulling or tugging. No issues regarding battery life.

My old Panasonic died after many good years of use. This one seems a little nicer and works well.

This is the second one that I have purchased. The trimmer does a very good job for its intended purpose. The problem is that after just a few weeks it begins to malfunction and will not turn on. I remove the battery and adjust the connecting battery tab. That works for a short time and then it has to be done again. I readjust it again. After a few times, it will not operate. I purchased a second one thinking that the first one was just a lemon. After two weeks, the same thing happened. It trims better than the other brands that I have tried, but I wish the unit lasted longer.

When my previous Panasonic trimmer died last week after 9 years of service, I researched all the alternatives to see if it was time to upgrade to a better trimmer. Maybe some robotic AI-controlled Bluetooth-enabled beast was waiting for me (j/k). After reading lots of reviews, I decided to just buy this one again. In fact, it's my third Panasonic trimmer in the past 20 years, with a brief foray with a Wahl trimmer that just didn't work very well. The only good thing about the Wahl, which I wish Panasonic would adopt, is a light. Otherwise, this is the perfect trimmer, and when this one dies 8 or 10 years from now I will probably buy it yet again.

Easy to use but sometimes a little balky. The motor sometimes just doesn’t seem to want to work, but coaxing — switching it on and off repeatedly — always works. It’s just a little frustrating. Does a pretty decent job of cutting and doesn’t seem to be as inclined to nick you as the other brand I used before.
