Affordable, high-quality external recorder and monitor
I really like this piece of equipment. The fact you can record 1080p 60 at 10 bit 4:2:2 is awesome, then you pair it with the fact that you can record to cheap SD cards. The screen is nice, and after a little calibration it looks pretty similar to my camera's monitor. That being said, it's not completely color correct so just use this as a nice composition/focusing monitor. The housing seems high quality, and I have not been let down by the ergonomics. Plenty of threaded holes on top and bottom to position this how you want.HELPFUL TIPSYou can only use the Sandisk Extreme Pro 95mb/s cards with this. I tried the PNY Professionals 95mb/s and it did not work. You need a mini-SDI cable to connect to this monitor with SDI. This is also called DIN. These cables are stupid and expensive, but Alvin's Cables makes an awesome, thin cable that is about 1/3 of the rest. I've never had any connectivity issues and they are really good at replying to emails and creating custom orders for different lengths. Fast shipping too. This is an external recorder with a better, larger screen than the entry level Atomos gear, and you can record 1080p60 instead of 1080i60. You receive both SDI and HDMI connections, and you record to inexpensive SD cards. After SSD's, this costs the same as one of the lowest class Atomos recorders and you can do a lot more with it. They're also constantly adding features so that's a plus.

Great image but LOUD
Great price. Great image. Controls are pretty intuitive. I just use as a monitor but 1080 recording worked for me when I tested it. Fan is loud. Problematic in general small spaces loud (office, bedroom, office...) which makes it less useful as a production tool. Would love a firmware upgrade that kills the fan during recording.

Awesome product, fast shipping
Love, love, love, love, LOVE this product. I may just order another one as a backup, but will wait on a lower price. However, the editing software, once installed on my PC laptop was difficult to understand and use. I so far have not used the software. I guess I should take a videography course or something. The instruction manual online doesn’t help, as I’m a visual learner. YouTube has some vids but not many to fully understand and benefit me. I may take up a class instead. But the recordings come out great using HDMI cables and cameras.

Nice Unit
Truly a Professional’s device. THIS unit’s display is NOT scaled down, it is a FULL 1920 X 1080. To see on screen information, just swipe up from bottom, or swipe down to remove it.Be aware, I used a ScanDisk 80 MBs SD card and it could not keep up with the bit rate for HD video (1920 X 1080) . ScanDisk Support advised using their 100 MBs card. However, this isnt a issue for this device. It only records uncompressed video. So expect your SD card to fill up like parking garage for a Taylor Swift concert where the tickets are free.

Recorded files are great. Unreliable unit, poor color science with the monitor
Great price, records well .... when the unit does not malfunction and turn off. Generally waiting for some time later it seems to miraculously come back on. Oh and whats with the yellow cast on the monitor, what you see in the monitor is nowhere close to the color being recorded thats good because the color profile of the monitor is at best... awful. For an inexpensive recorder it is ok, but be aware that the one provided me shuts down and perhaps this is a one off issue. The prores files are great. I can't however really recommend this product from my experience with it
