Get a cold one and read this - Circulation of Heat is Key... having radiant heat without circulation wont cut it.
Bought this in mid January 2016.. Have it mounted per recommendations, using 10/3 gauge wire, and a 30 amp breaker at 240vac. Its in an attached Garage that's 575 sq ft, insulated all around, and a Cement Floor, located in Central Wisconsin.Only two things I can see to improve on.1) The Fan, although quiet enough in my garage, doesn't push the heat as fast as I would like it to, but once the temp is up in the Garage (I have it set for about 60), it's ok.2) The dollar/watt cost was excellent (2 cents/watt or .6 cents/btu ) compared to the next units up, but would have enjoyed this same unit at 7500 watt maximum. That would mean at 2cents/watt for 7500Watts or $150. Never saw a 7500 Watt unit for 150 bucks.. that would have been Ideal.3) Thermostat Hysteresis has a bit to be desired. I guess I could compensate with a remote Thermostat but based on my initial research there was no remote or wired thermostat option available for this one. Also own a 30000 BTU propane portable. It too provides supplemental heat but is radiant only- not forced air. Not as effective as the Profusion. With BOTH these units running full tilt, (outside temp was 3 F) the initial garage temp of 37F was raised to 60F in about 1 hour. That included Heating up the two cars and Harley with average Garage hardware that initially started out at 37F. It takes a lot of energy to raise cold steel and air to 60 degrees that fast..Without the Profusion supplementing the propane Heater (it cant do it on its own) and thus augmenting the extra warm air mass I KNOW the garage temp would never make it past 50 in even 4 to 6 hours.THE PROFUSION ALONE will heat the garage from about 48 to 60 in about 1 hour under the SAME CONDITIONS.Thus, the propane heater even though it provides 30,000 BTU it just doesn't circulate it efficiently and the garage STAYS COLD.

Decent heater for the price
I bought this heater for my attached 2 stall garage which is insulated and drywalled, with 9 foot ceilings. The unit is a little on the noisy size from the fan rumble, but for a garage that doesn't matter to me. You could easily carry on a normal conversation without having to raise your voice when it kicked on.I left it on the 3,000 W setting since this will cause a longer cycle time and circulate the air more. One of my main reasons for installing this is to dry out the damp floor from the snow and ice dripping off of the cars in the winter, so the air circulation is more important to me that fast heat up.All in all, for a very reasonable price, I have the extra heat in my garage when I need it. We will see about the longevity.About the description here. It is wrong. There are not 3 heat settings, only 2; 3000W and 5000W. A more accurate description is on the Northern Tool site for this same model

Better than Expected
At First I was not sure about this heater after reading some of the neg reviews. But I am glad I went by the posotive reviews instead. This heater works very well. Some of the lower reviews said the heat output was low but, after turning it on it seamed to be that way but as it warmed up , I could not hold my hand in front of it for very long. At 10 feet away I could feel the heat blowing on me and it works very well. Now mind you it was not like a turbo heater but it was nice and warm. I bought 2 of these and hung them from the ceiling in a none insulated 2 car garage. While that was not practical they warmed it up to 50 deg. in 1.5 hrs.running constantly with temps outside at 22 deg.. I am going to insulate the garage this year and am looking forward to next winter. 1 thing I did do was check the nuts holding the fan on because of some of the low feedback saying that the nuts were loose or missing and these were none were missing and were nice and tight. Don't expect this heater to blow you away but it does through out a nice constant heat. I did not notice to much difference between low and high settings but it has them if you want to use a little less heat. The thermostats seam to work well. I did turn the at 50 deg. and you could here a click and it turned the heater off. The unit has to cool down before it shuts off. In all I am very pleased with this heater.

Great little heater for work shop.
I installed this heater in my work shop which I built last year located in NY. I used the reflective bubble wrap insulation to insulate my shop which is 16'x24' with 10' walls (384 sq ft) (3840 cu ft) I did install 3/4" plywood over the reflective bubble wrap so I could mount all of my tools/equipment to the walls wherever I wanted, without having to worry about catching the framing, so that does help insulate things. I keep this heater on the 3000 Watt setting when I am not in there, and keep the integrated thermostat on a very low setting just to keep the temps from getting too cold, and freezing my cans of stain, and aerosol cans. When I am in there, I will flip it into the 4000 or 5000 Watt mode, and crank the thermostat up and within 10 minutes I am able to take my jacket/hoodie, and hat off and feel comfortable working in there. I have not had the chance to see what my new utility bill will be yet, but the heater only turns on for 2-3 min every hour or so when I am not in there and have it on a low settings at 3000 Watts.

Best heater for the price.
I bought this for my 2 car garage. Heater works great, turns on and off with built in thermostat. So far no issues. I mounted it to the ceiling, ran 12 gauge wire to a switch, and connected that to the 240 breaker in my panel. When I want to warm up the garage, just flip the switch and heater turns on.

Excellent..... However
Works great if placed on or near the floor. The ceiling mount idea is completely crackpot. Heat rises. It can’t do much of any use on or near the ceiling. I actually tried it both ways. Ceiling = Fail !• Add a filter on the back so the heating elements don’t get clogged with dust.• Use with a solid state relay and digital thermostat for daily control.I am building a metal shelf unit to hold it about 6” off the floor.(The fan could move more air, but mounting low is the key)
