Verbatim does not disappoint.
Verbatim have long enjoyed a fine reputation and whereas far-east copies might seem cheaper, the quality build of this German manufacturer is worth paying for. Put simply, it does its job and it does it well.It comes with various connectors, a wealth of instructions and both a DVD of the manual and a blank BD. Verbatim continues to exceed the bar and has again produced a superb piece of kit. Silent when running it's indispensable for copying BDs for your library, keeping the originals in pristine condition should you ever need to make more copies.

Excellent - and LibreDrive compatible to boot!
I've had a few external DVD drives over the years including a full size external LG drive and up until recently it's been doing me fine, but it stopped agreeing with my Macbook recently and was taking up space and a plug socket. This drive fit the bill - USB-C (so it would run fine off one cable), blu-ray capable, slimline, and LibreDrive compatible for MakeMKV. And it works great! I spent a few days backing up all of my discs that I've got on my shelf and it chewed through them all no problem. Even read some scratched up ones just fine.Only thing is that due to ridiculous DRM requirements it's highly unlikely that I'll be able to play UHD 4K Blu-Rays using this drive, but it's not the drive's fault. Intel only included the extensions to play them in 6th to 10th generation processors, and the only systems I have are before or after that point (4th and 12th). My other systems are all AMD so I'm squit out of luck there. MakeMKV should make short work of that though, with any luck.

Fast drive and works well
This is a great wee drive. It is very slim, and so feels a little bit flimsy, but it works really well and, for me, it seems to be pretty fast. I got this to use with makemkv and it works perfectly with it. I can certainly recommend it.

Broke the third time I used it
Bought this item back in April of 2023 and upon arrival, immediately used it as part of a pair of editing jobs. It worked great. I didn't have to work with physical media until this past October, six months after I bought the drive. Plugged it in, the light on the device lit up... then turned off. I tried multiple connections on my laptop (including multiple USB slots and even the Lightning connection) and multiple wires and then multiple laptops. Nothing could get the drive to power on.As I'm just outside of the six month post-purchase period I am not protected by UK law and am unable to pursue a refund or exchange from Amazon. Reaching out to Verbatim, I received shocking customer service where after a couple of exchanges I was told it's illegal to rip blu-rays in Europe, which was not something I made any reference to in my emails. Hard to do anything, let alone rip blu-rays, if the device won't turn on.Now I'm left with a £90 device that worked twice and unable to obtain a refund or exchange. Sorely disappointed.

Works out of the box
Unit is nice and slim however it is slower than a desktop drive and can be a little noisy when initialising a disk. However this is to be expected and is common with slim drives. Overall I am very happy.Unit works great out of the box for MKV. For 4k playback you need to make sure your setup is fully compatible.Would highly recommend at around the £90 mark, especially as it has official 4k disk playback support.Unit comes with player, usb c cable and adapter, 25gb blank disk and software package. Once again a bargain for the price

Awesome blu ray player
I got recommended this model a lot, and I have to say it was a solid and hassle-free choice. Just plug it in and it plays blu rays no problem. Haven’t tried it on dvds yet though. Slim and comes with the cable to link it to my laptop.

Perfectly portable external reader/writer
Why did you choose this product over others?:A very nicely proportioned and weighted external drive - Especially when you apply the supplied adhesive 3m rubber pads. Your choice to apply or not, but makes the drive quite unmovable on the desktop. I would imagine the rubber pads improve read and write reliability also. I enabled Libredrive in about 30 mins of receipt of this. Marvellous. My DVD and Blue Ray collection is being copied to home network right now. My expensive original disc collection can remain on the shelves risk-free. I am a windows 11 user.It is a quick and silent drive in operation. The supplied USB cable is comically short; but easily replaceable with a longer one of your choice. I can't tell if the outer shell is brushed aluminium or plastic at the moment. The weather is too warm and I read mixed reviews - Some saying plastic, others saying aluminium.Whatever, I am extremely pleased with this perfectly performing USB single cable powered portable Blu Ray/DVD/CD reader/writer.

Great device but don't buy it for playing movies!
In terms of hardware, this product is top notch. It's slim, lightweight and the operation is silent. If you are looking for a drive to backup and copy data from multiple disc formats then this is a great option, especially since it's cheaper than most other 4K USB Bluray writers. If you are looking to buy this so you can watch your 4k Bluray and Bluray collection on your computer, don't bother. I wasn't able to play a single disc from my collection and after doing some research on-line, it turns out that Windows 10 and 11 are unable to play 4K Bluray and Bluray discs due to various legal, technical and region code related restrictions. There are endless web-sites and videos on YouTube showing you how to fix this issue however, I'm convinced they are all bogus as I was not able to solve the isssue despite being tech savy.
