Get the fine sand, but buy more than you think you need!
This fine sand did an amazing job of capturing detail! We initially did not order enough, 10 pounds is probably enough for casting one ring or a really small sculpture. I wish we would have bought the 25 points bag but I was being cheap. After trying to cast with only 10 pounds and realizing it was not enough, I ordered another 10lbs and it did the trick. Make sure you really pack it in well so it doesn’t fall apart. There was some chunks that we initially thought were moldy but deemed they were not mixed in all the way, it didn’t seem to be an issue. After casting we separated out the burnt sand (which is really smelly) and save it in a coffee can for small jobs in the future. Hopefully we have enough un-burnt sand to do a few more castings. Definitely it is something to add in to the cost of your project as it is only partially reusable. Don’t forget to get parting powder! We bought some from Amazon as well and it worked beautifully.

Great, but a small amount.
This is a quite small package, much smaller than I expected. It works very well, though. Keeps it's shape, etc. I guess I will have to buy a couple more bags to get the amount that I expected.

Detailed castings
This sand is easy to work with and captures fine details from the model. Too expensive for large castings in my opinion.

Easy to use.
First time using this type of product. As I am new to using this type of product and casting metals, I don't have experience with other brands. However, my project went very well, and I found this easy to use. I had some fine detail work to bring out on a military challenge coin, and the final product was very satisfactory.

I would buy again!
I’m a rookie and tried a no oil product first and failed, then i tried this casting sand and it works beautifully! Highly recommend.

Ehh… I know it’s good… but.
I know this stuff is the expensive stuff , the diy’ers all say so.. but damn it, I wanted my first casting to be puss…nope… can’t get a good cast to save my life.. every time I try to make a mold it chunks off little bits and I get frustrated as heck… it’s probably user error but damn, I get the principle point, but have had 0 luck?
