The item took awhile to get here (delivery date clearly stated no rush delivery and gave an estimated shipping time of nearly a month, I believe - and it was shipped in a lovely box which was delivered to me within the specified time frame and he received in very fine condition. The pieces of thus item are made prey well. I would not say it was made with precision in every detail of design and finish but got the price i would say it is very good quality. The pieces are kind of delicate and it needs to be handled with a bit of care so not to break the hurricane glass. It is easy to use and delivers a smooth tasting coffee. If you do not prefer particularly strong and robust cups of coffee then you will appreciate this machine/device even more so. It is a worthy display for home libraries, offices, Coffee Bar, breakfast area, and kitchens. It does not take up a large space, easy to clean, and serves as a really cool novelty item that is just as practical to use.? I recommend having an electric kettle to preheat the water in a library or coffee bar and it is a terrific novelty piece for conversations. By all means USE it for conversation starters because it is easy to use and fun to watch work and easy to clean.

This was a hit with my dad for Christmas! We were at a restaurant when my dad had coffee made from one of these machines and it was pretty cool. It’s more of an experience thing and the coffee is delicious. I think it was worth the money for how often my dad uses it. Easy to clean and operate.

This coffee maker is just darn good looking. Oh yeah, it actually works. It takes a little extra time and it is not a push-a-button. The coffee is superb. It is also quite interesting to watch. Who knew, stepping back in time, coffee could taste so good. The alcohol burner has an odd smell when it is working, so be ready for that. But man, the coffee. Can't get this from an automatic. It is a great gift item.

We love this coffee maker. We had a Bodum coffee maker years ago that was also a vacuum coffee maker. We wanted to get something like it that wasn't made out of plastic. We did not want plastic to come in contact with the coffee either. This is made of glass and metal. The filter is cloth.It is so much fun to watch and makes a very smooth cup of coffee. It is small though. It makes about 1 very large mug or 2 small cups of coffee. We don't use it every day but we love it when we want this type of coffee.

The coffee maker is beautiful but it doesn’t brew. I used 3 types of coffee, it’s still too light.I’m not returning because it blend in well with my other antique collections

This machine makes a fantastic cup of coffee. However, after 2 years of owning and less than 5 pots brewed in it, the siphon no longer sits in the metal part of the machine. This caused to my horror, the siphon to burst out raining hot water on all the guests at my dinner table. I tested it again in my kitchen to see if it was a user error, placed the siphon securely back in and relight the wick. It exploded in my face and thusly went straight into the trash. I and my guests are very lucky to not have any serious injuries, but the shock of it all was enough.

This is a novelty item and not for serious regular coffee making. The cool steam-punk effect is off the charts but not without its downsidesPros: looks good, well made, makes me happyCons: takes longer to set up and clean between uses. It’s HOT... even the valve to open to get a cup, you will get little burns here and there till you totally get the hang of it. It uses twice the coffee of a regular drip style.... the water is only with the grounds a couple of minutes before siphoned off...therefore requires more grounds to make a normal cup. You barely bump it wrong and knock it off alignment.... especially closing the valve shut as it’s almost empty... it tumbles apart too easy.

I liked the look of this product. A real conversation piece.
