Welsh Baker Welsh Cakes - 2 Flavors - 8 Cakes - Currant, Cranberry Orange

I love to have some sort of biscuit or cookie to dip in my tea and coffee. I had ordered some other items but these Welsh cakes caught my eye. They were a little pricey, but after tasting them today, I am happy to pay the price! They are absolutely delicious! They are somewhere between a scone and a dense cake. They are sweet, but not too sweet. I ate one straight out of the package, but I can imagine that warming them up with butter would be extraordinary. I'm going to try some with tea here in a moment, but they are so good you can eat them straight out of the package. These are going to be a staple in my home from this day forward.

Love them! Tastes great. Pack it up for a road trip or one in a ziploc for the day. Great for breakfast on the go.

These Welsh cakes are smaller than I expected - I'm used to the larger ones I've had in England - so they were a bit pricey, but it's a small business, so to be expected. The taste is excellent, but they are very sweet and contain too much sugar for my liking.

I bought these on a whim because I had never even heard of Welsh Cakes before. Yesterday I warmed up two of the cranberry orange cakes for 15 seconds in the microwave. OMG! These were delicious! Although I'd planned to add some jam, it wasn't necessary, as they were sweet enough without being too sweet. Same goes for cheese or cream as they were rich without being overly filling. I am almost embarrassed to admit it, but I enjoyed my cakes so much that I warmed up the rest of the package and devoured them as well. This might be the best dessert I have ever had! The texture is completely unique, satisfying without being heavy underneath a light powdery top. I haven't tasted the current or any other flavors, but based on the cranberry orange variety, I am eager to try them all. Of course, the price is, unfortunately, too high for me to make this a regular purchase, but, perhaps, if I limit myself to one cake per day, I will be able to enjoy this lovely little treat.

The cakes are ok. The ingredient list is simple, high quality, but the flavor to me was bland. I imagine if they were homemade that they would be better. Not worth the price.

These little cakes are absolutely delectable. I did not know what to expect but the taste of these treats remind me of my mom's baking as a kid. I am not Welsh but these definitely hit the mark. I was happily surprised that they were as fresh as right out of the oven. Never received a baked good as fresh. I have seen some reviews indicating an issue with texture? I do understand those comments. These little guys melt in your mouth, especially with 8 seconds in the microwave along with clotted cream and jam. I would recommend the currant flavor to anyone. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Delicious! Only regret is that I didn't order more. This was my first order. . .being cautious and all. Now I have to wait for another batch to arrive. Why am I just finding these now?

I had seen references to these griddle cakes in historical novels, so I decided to try them. Are they a bit pricey? Well, yes, but this is not an overly sweet yellow oblong sponge cake injected with whipped cream. These are real treats made with authentic ingredients. I tried the cranberry and orange, a real test for me as I am generally not terribly fond of either fruit. I warmed it in the microwave for 10 seconds, then ate it with a fork, to avoid just wolfing it down. It was perfect: flavorful with a light dusting of sugar on top, not too sweet, and perfect with a cup of tea. I look forward to enjoying the rest, and to trying other offerings from the Welsh Baker. I had NO clue what on earth a Welsh Cake was, it just showed up one day as a recommended item from Amazon based on previous purchases and I became intrigued. I don't eat a big breakfast but I do have a biscotti or something small to take with my meds. These are the perfect little breakfast cake! It's not dense and buttery like a shortbread, it's lighter than that. It's got this lovely fine sugar coating the whole outside of the cake so to me you really don't need butter or jam or anything else! I put mine in the toaster until the outside is just golden brown and they are delicious! It's soft, not dense, lovely taste of fresh oranges and cranberries, nothing artificial. They aren't big but they don't need to be. Enjoy each bite with your tea or coffee and don't just woof it down and it's perfect! They always arrive freshly made and now I can't imagine a morning without them! My ONLY suggestion would be to offer more options on quantity. It's either this pairing of Orange/Cranberry and Current or they have a huge assortment with lots of flavors like cinnamon and chocolate chip. I don't think I'd like either cinnamon or chocolate chip so offer the buyer a discount to put together their own flavors into a bigger bundle order.
