Summary: We had a 12 foot shade for our bedroom, but at that size, the lowest point was rather close to the house, inhibiting some air flow into the window. So we upgraded to this 16 foot version, which moved the base away, and increased the air flow noticably. The color we received was Pebble, and it is a nice neutral color; lighter than the last (which was a tan), and that actually increased the light in the room. Observations: 1) There was a seam, and I didn't notice it at first, but after putting it up, I decided to orient the seam horizontally rather than vertically; for both aesthetic as well as structural purposes (majority of the forces will be between the top two mounting points, so the seams going between them would be a natural ripping/failure point). 2) This is actually the 2nd Coolaroo product; these first being a dog bed. We were very impressed with the dog bed material, so I have no doubt that this sail shade will last with out a puppy running around on it. Recommendations: 1) When installing the shade, be sure the check that when the shade moves from wind, that it does not rub against anything; in my case, I had it too close to the roof edge, and had to reposition. 2) Lay out the orientation on the ground. 3) Use proper sail shade hardware. When I put up the first 12 foot sail, I just used 550 paracord, and cheap carabiners. But for this installation, I tried out two different Stainless Steel hardware sets. The Weitars was a little stronger/bigger, so I went with that over the Heleman set because of the larger sail size. Pros: Excellent quality, good fit & finish; each corner has cord already attached (can be removed if not needed, which I did); clear instructions. Cons: None. Conclusion: I ordered another one of these for the back of the house. Very much recommend this sail shade. I received this product and haven't used it yet. But It looks great. it won't be good for rain, but it will provide shade.

So very great, one of my best product that I’ve ever ordered, my 3rd items from coolaroo !! I have 3 rectangular shade covers in 3 different colors for my back patio connected from back of my house to the middle patio, 10 feet, covers the area that I needed, family relaxes in the shades and it also keeps the back part of the house cooler during sunset !!! Always measure the open space/gaps for shade before you order !!!!

These will last several seasons, they are durable and good quality, I am in AZ, many items only last one summer, I purchased these again because I have some that are 3 years old & still going strong.

I purchased the Coolaroo 11 foot 10 inch sail canopy to provide afternoon shade under a west facing gazebo. Installation was easy, about 30 minutes - just centered it on top of the gazebo, and wrapped the nylon ropes attached at each corner around the support structure. I may install 8 inch boat cleats on the gazebo and wrap the lines around those for a cleaner look. The area this shades is noticeably cooler without blocking all the light. So far it's weathered several southeast Texas summer wind and rain storms without needing any adjustment. The pebble color is good, and the fabric and stitching are strong. The shade is an equilateral triangle. The sides are curved inwards somewhat more than I'd expected from the pictures but that's not a deal breaker for me. I recommend this product. Update on 9/3/2014: The canopy has withstood the Texas heat and sun as well as the summer storms we've had this year. It looks like it did the day I installed it. Installing the boat cleats is still on my to-do list. Update on 9/3/2015: It survived a second summery of heat, sun, and storms without any rips or tears. The ropes are still attached and the seams are intact. The fabric looks a little worn close up, but it's not noticeable from the ground. I think it's amazing that it's still in one piece. Installing boat cleats is still on my to-do list.

This was nice and easy to install, but it ended up being a bit too small for our deck. So, we decided to purchase another one from another brand to layer. Without comparison, this product was fine. But, when the other brand arrived, we realized the differences were big. This was of thinner material where water/rain could penetrate through; while the other one (SUN shade sail by Petra) was solid. When it rained, I would have to poke the shade sail with a stick to let the water out, but, by being solid, it also provided more shade to more effectively cool down the area. So, it really depends on what you need it for, I guess.

Easy to work with. Worth the cost. One package of 6x50 was sufficient to shade my pool from the hot Texas sun that scorches my back yard fro 11:30 am to 5:00pm. I was able to get two 25' panels out of one roll of 6x50 roll with stretches across my 16x26 pool. I purchased thick 25' tent rods, closet rod base brackets, and heavy duty snaps to make a double canopy to cover my pool. It is very durable and stands up tu the wind. Please note...manufacture suggests not using for pools due to chlorine incompatibility. But I figure...if I have to reconstruct the canvas each year at $114.00 a bolt, it's woth it for the 90% UV filter rating and huge cost savings of orher products out there that did not work for this purpose. It looks refined and great with my gray color scheme as well.

Awesome shade sail. Permeable material so rain doesnt pool on it. Replaced the poly rope with aluminum caribeeners and coated steel cables for maximum tension to keep it from flapping in the wind. Much cheaper solution for a hot deck rather than ridged awnings or erect-a-set gazeebos that will get destroyed in high wind environments. Will be buying a few more to stagger them across the deck for a resort-style spa look. Having just one looks like a giant thong suspended in the air. The neighbors will be so jealous!

Coolaroo is the best name in sun shade. very high quality. This my third sun shade from it, never disappoint me. Highly recommended!!

Wir benutzen die Coolaroo Segel seit 20 Jahren und haben noch keine Alternative gefunden. Die Segel lassen sich sehr gut spannen, hängen also nicht durch. Desweiteren beschatten sie zuverlässig, sind aber trotzdem licht- und regendurchlässig. Das heißt, es bilden sich bei Regen keine Beulen. Das ist in 20 Jahren der 3. Satz Segel. Die ersten Segel wurden uns im Winter von Mäusen zerfressen. Der 2. Satz Segel ist tatsächlich angerissen. Allerdings ist das bei einem furchtbaren Unwetter passiert. Auch da hat sich die Qualität gezeigt. Jedes andere Segel wäre wahrscheinlich komplett zerfetzt worden.

We have not used the shade sail yet but will this summer. It seems very well made and we have other Coolaroo products that we have been using for years. We love the roll down shades. They work excellent!
