So far so good!
I haven't had to use this yet so fair warning to those wanting an after-use review. Hopefully I won't ever need to use it. But I bought this Buckeye extinguisher so I can mount it inside my truck. It's mounted on a br"Bracketeer" seat bracket. I will update this review if it leaks or any other new developments are found.I went with Buckeye cause its supposed to have a good reputation within the community and I believe they use a metal inner tube/valve which is important for vehicle mounted applications. Kiddie is notorious for being garbage because of their plastic inner tubes and valves, which caused recalls. So I steer clear from kiddie. The Buckeye came brand new in a glued manufacturers box with 09/18/18 stamped as date of manufacture (I bought this 10/05/18) so that's awesome that it's brand new stock. It came with a wall mount that fit my seat bracket perfectly. Not really much else to say about this extinguisher. Feels well built as opposed to the cheaper first alert/kiddie stuff. Oh and it has a metal handle/lever. All better than plastic.

Nice Fire extinguisher - BUT IT's EMPTY
This is a nice looking heavy duty extinguisher however mine came nearly empty. AND IS NOT RETURNABLE!!!!!!!!!! Have emailed the vender and will change my review if they resolve the issue.Update: After emailing the vendor I was immediately contacted and a new Fire Extinguisher was shipped. I have received the new FE and it appears to be fine. It fits in my truck nicely and I am now happy with the purchase.Changed my rating to 4 stars but 5 stars for customer service! This is a very nice fire extinguisher as I have said above but I am concerned with its reliability since the first one was empty.

Inspect Your Equipment
• Use Review •• Cautionary tale •A few years ago I pulled over to help someone put out a truck fire on a freeway offf-ramp. I didn't have an extinguisher so I used coolant (gross, sorry environment).Lesson: keep an extinguisher. The other day I woke up to a fire alarm, and my roommate panicking while the toaster oven held containment of a small oil fire.I grabbed my extinguisher, which had been kicking around my life since the aforementioned, pulled the pin, aimed at the base, and put out the fire with a single short spray. My extinguisher had done its job, but I had not done mine. That singular burst was all my extinguisher would give me.Had the situation been more severe, so too would have been the consequences of my negligence. At some point the plastic retaining ring for the pull-pin was incidentally broken, and I left the storage angle of the device to do the job of keeping the pin. Stupid.Eventually the device acquired some crush-damage to the handle, which pushed the flanges used for the handle-hinge out, but didn't impair the function of the device.Lesson: protect, inspect, and maintain your equipment. Your life and livelihood may depend on it.

Saved From Car Fire
25June20: Driving home, I noticed a car on the shoulder. There were two people beside the car; its hood opened. Driving past, I assumed they were experiencing minor engine trouble. Then my rear view mirror began reflecting an orange glow, their engine bay had caught on fire and it was growing quickly. This fire extinguisher has been transferred from 3 different vehicles, taken aboard many fishing trips, and has been handled roughly since November 2018. Today was the day I needed it most; to help this family from having their car completely engulfed. I stopped, grabbed the extinguisher from the trunk, recalled my training, and placed 100% faith on the extinguishers serviceability. It performed flawlessly and successfully. I’m very happy that I could help a family of strangers and for the reliability of this product. I will be purchasing again.
