Sun Dolphin Excursion 10-Foot Sit-in Fishing Kayak

I have been putting off buying a kayak because I wanted one that could be used both recreationally and fishing. I kept increasing my cost to the point I would back off and not buy it. I realized putting it off was depriving me of kayaking experiences so finally I pulled the trigger on two of these. I will say there are better kayaks out there if you want to spend $600.00 plus but if you aren't sure and want to get out on the water for a minimal investment this kayak is good. I took mine out onthe Willamette River last Sunday and had a blast. Very stable even with all the boats speeding by. There are several videos out there on how to add little things like seat cushons, additional tie downs, etc which I have done. All that being said, one arrived damaged and had to be returned so I am waiting for that to ship. Amazon was very good about doing a swap unfortunately it appears they ran out of stock so hopefully I get it before September when we will have a great time kayaking down the Deschutes River!

The product itself is not bad for the price. I have taken it out and the water bounces at the seam and you can hear it, the sound raises an alarm to a leak but no water seems to get in. My other set of kayaks are much higher quality but I also paid 3x the price of these. I would not recommend these for intense kayaking but they are great light weight floaters for lakes and calm waters. Perfect for the beginner or those who just want to hang out in calm water and fish. They are quite roomy, plus, they have holders for fishing poles and a storage compartment for tackle or whatever you need. Overall I am happy with the product and would recommend them.I do have one big cautionary note; if you order these call amazon before it ships and make sure they do NOT ship them using the Pilot shipping company. I ordered 2 of these at the same time, hoping to get some time on the water before summer ends and Oregon rain sets in. One was shipped through a different freight company and got here within a week, the other was shipped via Pilot freight and it took them almost a month, and it would have been longer if I didn’t fight with them on the phone. They will set up delivery times and tell you that an adult has to be home to accept the delivery in the 6 hour window. They never show up and they never call to cancel the delivery, it happened to me 3 times! My husband took days off work to be home to accept the deliveries that never showed up. All 3 times the boat never even left the last loading dock so they could have at least called and said they weren’t going to deliver it instead of wasting our time. After the 3rd one and a lot of hassling the company they finally outsourced the shipment and it was here the next morning, but the bottom of the bot had a bunch of scratches and dings on it. I had a similar experience when Amazon sent a TV using Pilot freight a few years ago, they made me drive 2.5 hours to meet them or they weren’t going to deliver it for 2 more months. I work in logistics so I try to be understanding of this kind of stuff but twice in a row? That is just ridiculous...

Kayak was delivered as promised. very lightweight and great for fishing.A little tight to work on your fish but doable. I prefer it to using my canoe. my only complaint was that the the screws on the side that hold the foot straps were loose and the boat was leaking. a little silicon and a screwdriver took care of it. Like the beige color.

It floats. Don't have many other kayaks to compare it too but its fairly lightweight and stable. For fishing purposes a skeg would come in handy. I find its likes to drift when trying to go strait even in calm water. Also, there are elastic cables on the side, these are not carrying handles! I tried to pick up the kayak using this and it snapped (ouch). However, cant beat it for the price!

The kayak was shipped without the front swivel rod holder, but after emailing the manufacturer one was graciously shipped to me at no charge. The kayak tracks well in the water and is stable enough for me to confidently carry my DSLR camera on board. The only negative aspect is the hard bottom of the seat, which is easily remedied with an inexpensive seat cushion.

Honestly really like it , could get a pelican basic one which may flow through the water better as this is very flat but seemed to work great when in shallow with rocks , overall it’s very good for the money and I love the offset fishing holders! Comes with paddle in case you were wondering !

Arrived as expected. The fishing kayak was a gift to my husband and he is enjoying fishing on our little lake.

Good little fishing kayak. Could use a little more storage and a work area in the front of the cockpit. Works well on ponds and small streams. Not sure I'd want to take it out on big water.
