If you like your board games on the "heavy" side then this is a fantastic game and very well produced with some really innovative gameplay and a lot of room for expansions and replayability. You get a LOT of stuff in the box - punching out all of the tokens takes some time and the only complaint I would have is that it takes a fair bit of organisation to store everything in the box in a manner that allows easy set up and take down (a lot of grip seal plastic bags are included - I ended up labelling them with a sharpie). A well designed storage tray in the box would have been nice. The game itself is for the strategy fans. My family of 4 (two boys aged 10 and 12) managed to get the hang of it pretty quickly. It DOES need someone to study the rules and explain them to children. My 10 year old was right at the limit of his strategic thought capacity. It's worth reading wider reviews to see if this game is for you. As a family we love "engine building" games like 7 Wonders, Terraforming Mars, Wrymspan and Scythe (amongst many others), and Anachrony takes these sorts of games to a slightly higher level. There is no inter-player conflict other than competition for a limited number of options that can be taken each round, although it is only towards the end of the game that this becomes more limiting. LOTS of room to play this simply or take it really seriously, including several expansion rule options that come in the box and numerous separate expansion boxes which can add new dimensions (almost all of which are modular - so you can choose which you like the most and only play with those options). Highly recommended for fans of strategic "Eurogames".
