Another nice mystery from MHC!
Neeve Kearny, along with her retired police commissioner dad, never did find the true killer behind her mother’s murder. An owner of an established clothing shop, Neeve was the personal consultant of Ethel Lambston, a notorious freelance writer. Neeve was the only one that suspected Ethel might be missing.Meanwhile, there’s a hit on Neeve’s life. When word got around that the head mobster that vowed revenge on the Kearny family was being released, Neeve’s father was understandably concerned. This one was a little slower with Neeve running around trying to figure out Ethel’s whereabouts. More than halfway through, the dead body of Ethel Lambston was finally discovered. Question was: who killed her?Another nice mystery!

The Queen of Mystery still rules !
This book was filled with several believable characters. A true “. Who done it”, right to the final chapter. I could not put it down. Even after her death, Mary Higgins Clark will live on in her wonderful books.

Columnist Ethel Lamston is tops in her profession of writing ...
Columnist Ethel Lamston is tops in her profession of writing scathing columns on the most successful people in New York City in society and in business. She was about to expose the corruption of the garment industry in the City when she was found murdered. Neeve Kearny, daughter of the former police commissioner, and owner of an exclusive high-end women’s fashion shop in Manhattan had dressed Lamston for years. Her death reminded Kearny of her own mother’s unsolved murder years before. Kearny decides to involve herself in pursuit of the killer, not knowing that she is also on a hit list. Clark has written an interesting, fast paced novel. However, MHC spends way too much time on detailed descriptions of surroundings, people and their clothes. I also felt the ending was a bit amateurish for a seasoned writer. I give the novel 4 stars.

Good Book - Kindle Editing Disappointing
I haven't read a MHC book for a long time, and forgot how much I enjoyed her books. I thoroughly enjoyed the usual twists and turns of this book, and loved the ending.I was disappointed with the Kindle edition, however. One mistake in spelling or grammar you ignore, two is a raised eyebrow. There were so many errors that it was off-putting. I like to get lost in a book, and an error takes me out of "the zone", so to speak. Kindle edition e-books should have the same standards as standard editions. This is not a complaint on MHC, but rather the publisher (Pocket Books).

While my Pretty One Sleeps
Another winner for this author. She writes her heroine into mystery filled circumstances and weaves her stories and characters into mysterious scenarios and then she keeps you in suspense until the last minute. If you enjoy a good mystery pick up this book.

Proofreaders Needed!
Love all of MHC's books. I started reading them from her first book and am thoroughly enjoying them. I'm only giving this book 4 stars because of the incredible amount of typos. I am a professional legal secretary and I can't imagine this book being published without proof reading. Shameful!

Not bad, could have been better.
One of Mary Higgins Clark's earlier books, written before she developed her best style. I had read the condensed version long ago and was pleased to read the book in its entirety. Some repetitious descriptions occur, but otherwise a good read.

Thin plot
I can't help feeling I've read this plot before, or something very like it. It certainly doesn't seem original. Once again we have the standard cast of MHC characters, as always fronted by the beautiful, talented, worried, late twenty something, church going heroine who, after threats to her life, finally ends up with the man of her dreams. This particular novel, relying heavily on references to the fashion industry, can become tedious to those not especially interested in haute couture. All those descriptions of designs and colours and matching garments simply pad out an otherwise skimpy plot. The caricature Irish, Italian, Jewish, Hispanic personae also become a bore.

While my Pretty One Sleeps
Nerve Kearney owns Neeve's Place a fashion boutique and Ethal Lambston a journalist is a big customer, so when she fails to keep her appointment at Neeve's Place to pick up her clothes, Neeve becomes concerned. Eventually Ethal's body is discovered by a walker and things start to happen. Also the murder of Neeve's Mother is still unsolved. Is there a connection. And what does Nick Sepetti a Mafia mobster have to do with Neeve's mothers death? Very iintriguing. Good descriptions about the fashion industry and contrary to a previous I don't think the description on what people were wearing was overdone. Good book which held your attention throughout. Would recommend.

I always enjoy reading anything by Mary Hioggins Clark
I always enjoy reading anything by Mary Hioggins Clark. They are all different, but they hold you right through the book and you find it difficult to think who or what has done it! This book is a very good read.

A good read
I read this book years ago and loved the story. I love how it keeps you guessing as to who did it, even though I knew this time, it was still a good read. Bit Mills and Boon meets dark and dangerous.
