I purchased 4 of these to replace the uplights that my home builder had installed. They look great, the matte black metal casings are quite durable, and look very sleek and unassuming during the day, at night they cast a nice glow against the house. I can even animate the colors using the Hue app to make for seasonal lighting schemes. A few caveats: 1) These are not lights you just plug in and use. You will need to install them to existing wiring boxes, or have an electrician/contractor install wiring boxes for you. if you DO opt to DIY, be sure and kill the power at the breaker while you're working, just to be sure you don't hurt yourself. 2) While the lights themselves are very weatherproof (they've stood up to a couple of years of Texas storms, now), you do need to apply silicone caulk around the mounting base to keep rain from getting into the electrical box they're mounted to. This also keeps insects from using the electrical box as a nesting spot. Be generous with the caulking, and only leave a hole along the bottom edge, so that if water DOES get in, it can drain properly. 3) For best results, you need a Hue bridge, and make sure it is in range of the lights themselves. A small home might not matter so much, but if you've a big place, you need to consider placement so the lights can get a decent signal to/from the bridge. Also consider that metal garage doors and 'wet walls' with water pipes might block the signal, so don't position the bridge where such fixtures can interfere. TL;DR - Well worth the cost to dress up your home!

Love my hue lights. I have many other hue lights throughout the house. I have these on both sides of the garage. They are not as bright as I’d hoped, but they do the job. Would purchase again.

Super easy to install, we even put in on a blank concrete wall with no prior light fixture. Now on a back porch/lanai, with about 10 other hues, it feels like an island paradise in my backyard. This light gave the porch just the right amount of up and down lighting for security, and for sitting on the porch with a little extra illumination. Better than expected!

Philips Hue lights are on the expensive side and the exterior lights all seem to be on the dim side. Negatives aside, the light fixtures look very high end and install very simply. It is very easy to add them to the Hue app, and in over six months of use, I’ve never experienced any issues with any of my Hue exterior lights. In addition, you are able to add them to your Google Home app and perform some limited functions through that app as well. While they do look very pretty, I took a star off for the lack of brightness. Even at pure white with 100% brightness, they are probably still the dimmest exterior lights I’ve ever seen. When you switch it to color mode, it get significantly more dim, especially with deeper colors. If you don’t need a ton of light or have other lighting that will supplement these, the light it casts on the building looks phenomenal and you won’t find a light that’s easier to install. If this will be your only source of light, you better bring a flashlight or pick something else. Recommended with caveat.

I purchased 3 of these Hue outdoor lights to replace older(non-smart) lights on the back of my home. I have several hue indoor lights and setup was just as easy as with the indoor lights. Reading other reviews, I was a little worried about the brightness, but they work well for my setup. In the attached picture, all 3 lights are set to 50% brightness. During the setup, the lights defaulted to 100% brightness and I did notice that that all 3 fixtures seemed get really hot given they are led lights(almost too hot too touch). When the lights are set to 50% there is basically no noticeable heat. I currently have the lights setup through the hue app( lights on 10 hours at night). I can’t speak on the longevity of the lights as I only installed them a week ago. If I have any issues, I will update this review. As of now, the lights are meet my expectations and are in line with my positive view of other hue lights.

Highly recommend these, I was a little worried about the brightness but as you can see in the picture they are very bright. Customizing to any colors, automate sunset lights turn on and turn off at sunrise. You will need a Phillips hue bridge to operate these lights. Very easy to connect and operate from your phone.

For the price, I expected way more from this Philips Hue outdoor light. It’s nowhere near as bright as I hoped, making it pretty useless for actual illumination. Feels like you're just paying for the smart features rather than quality lighting. Definitely not worth the cost!
